How to get started in PowerDirector Video Editor for iOS Apple And Android Devices.
I have bokeh this video tutorial up into 3 sections
Prepare your footage for Powerdirector import
Import video & photos into Powerdirector editor
Get to know the Powerdirector App Layout & lastly
    Alright here we go.
    Prepare your footage for import
When you take a photo or FILM A video your with your Phone it automatically stores the media in your Camera Roll or recents album.
At this early stage of the game you have the power to make your life easy
    OR
make your life very hard in the future.
You see, there is something that needs to happen before you decide to make a video in Powerdirector, or any editing app for that matter.
Step 1 - You need to manage your clips into albums. In your photos on your Phone
It only takes a minute, and it will save you hours later.
Make sure to not have more than 10 to 20 clips per folder. If you have more than this Group them into little scenes of clips that will belong together and put them in seperate albums.
In you final edit each album of roughly 10-20 clips will make about a minute of video (roughly speaking o fcourse).
The second step to preparing your Powerdirector edit is to clean up the albums first.
Quite often you will film more than you need for the final edit.
Either you tried to film the same thing twice (or ten times) to get the perfect take…
Or you filmed very long clips and want to cut out and use only a piece of it.
Both of these are completely normal things to happen.
You could delete the unnecessary duplicates in the Powerdirector App later.
But once you have ALL your clips in an editing ap, choosing and trimming can become just a little harder to manage.
Rather trim and remove your clips right here in the album.
Now that you have a beautifully clean album waiting to go, we can move into the Powerdirector App.
Import videos & photos into Powerdirector editor
The Next major step on our journey to making a video with your smartphone is start a new project in Powerdirector.
Tap to open the Powerdirector Video Editor App.
If you have never used it before you will have a “ new project” button at the top of the Screen.
    IMAGE 1P
    What now?
You guessed it… push the button.
A Pop up will appear where you are going to set project settings.
First name the Project. This is important so you can find it again later.
    Second choose your Aspect ratio.
You have a choice to make a Landscape or 16 x9 Video, portrait or 9:16 & Square with is a 1 to ratio
Once you make this selection you will be taken to your timeline with the media library tab open.
See this here is your media library, meaning where you go to importa video clips under this tab, and photos from here and music & audio from here.
This will open on the start of a project automatically.
Now, because you followed my first instruction and placed your clips in a nice neat album, you see your albums presented here. Select tha blum with your clips
Look how nice and neat this is.
Next select the clips you want to use for your edit.
It should be all of them!
REMEMBER you should have cleaned out what you did not want in the album cleanup process already.
Just tap on the clips in the order you want them to appear in your edit.
One tap to highlight and another on the plus to see it move to the timeline.
At the bottom of the screen you will see your timeline starting to build.
You can tap and hold on a clip to drag it down into a unique position.
If you are unsure of which clip you are looking at… like these two look similar, you can preview it here.
So this one would come first then that one.
You can reorder them on the timeline at any time by dragging and dropping into a new position.
Let’s hit the back button now. First we will go back to the media library top folder. Back again takes you to your timeline.
    Welcome to your project.

Wow thanks for this video, just need to learn how to overlay. Anyways, I just started using this tonight. And once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty crafty and can get the job done. At least better than any other app I’ve tried so far.

Creating overlays is pretty simple. Just remember, your devices SOC/processor determines how many video or image overlay tracks you will see. I have a bunch of overlay tutorials on my channel. Feel free to stop by and check them out.

Great video! :) Thank you so much for sharing all that wonderful, insightful and valuable information!:) How do you go back and edit the "Project Aspect Ratio" of a video that you have already started from 9:16 to 16:9, if you have initially determined the project aspect ratio as 9:16 but wanted to change it later on (while still working on it) to 16:9...? Thanks! :)

Hi Dean. I recently bought a GoPro and being a mountain biker for so many years I'm now really interested on learning to make some nice videos.
I'm using PowerDirector but every time I save a 4k video project, I realize that it gets compressed when saved. Then it will have another compression again uploading on CZcams. Can you give some tips here?
Nice videos you have here in your channel!

    • @PowerDirectorApp
      @PowerDirectorApp Před 3 lety

IMHO CyberLink compresses 4K videos to assist with storage. If you select the Upload to CZcams option I would think that there would only be one pass at compression. But if you're like me and prefer to upload to CZcams manually then we're stuck with double compression.

    • @PowerDirectorApp
      @PowerDirectorApp Před 3 lety

The render options will be dependent on your SOC or processor. If your processor supports 4K rendering the option will be there. If it doesn't you will not have that option.
