    I read in a book.hydrogen gas was discovered by action of zinc metal with dilute hydrochloric acid. My question is why dilute hydrochloric acid why not concentrated hydrochloric acid?

      Zinc is above hydrogen in activity series so its more reactive. So conc acid is not required

      It's an exothermic reaction as high amount of heat energy is released (as you can see that the candle lits up everytime it goes near the mouth of the test tube )

    Chemical Reaction :A chemical reaction is a chemical change in which matter changes into a new substance. A chemical reaction is accompanied by certain external indications or characteristics. This include change of colour, state, smell , Evolution
    of gas ,precipitate formed,heat evolved or released .
    Reactants: Reactants are atoms or group of atoms which breaks to form new substance called the products
    Products: These are the new bonds or substances formed as a result of breaking of atoms or group of atoms called the reactants
