Same here. It’s funny how so many people here are commenting that his performance was bad. They don’t get it that what they think is bad performance is just getting the character perfectly. Aro is somewhat mad, and Michael Sheen acts accordingly. Still, he shows a range of emotions in a subtle way. I was just observing his face and how it changes. All the while, the other actors have those wooden faces, not because their characters are cool, but because they cannot act.

Michael Sheen did a brilliant job analyzing this about the character and portraying on screen, showing real respect for the source material. What I can’t stand about some of the other actors is that they openly disrespect the books and their author and it shows on screen. Doesn’t matter if the books are good or not, if you treat it with respect, you can create a standout performance as Michael did.

People say he was just fucking around, but to me he was the only actor who took his character from the books and faithfully brought him to the screen. Aro had a calm voice and was a creepy character. Michael took him and made him even better.
