    LLORET DE MAR
Lloret de Mar is a coastal town located in the comarca of Selva, in the province of Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the northeastern coast of the Iberian Peninsula, along the Costa Brava, approximately 75 kilometres northeast of Barcelona and 40 kilometres southwest of Girona.
Lloret de Mar is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful Mediterranean beaches, attracting visitors with its vibrant nightlife, historic sites, and numerous leisure activities.
The town covers an area of about 48.7 square kilometres and has a population of roughly 40,000, although this number significantly increases during the summer months due to tourism.
Lloret de Mar's primary attraction is its extensive coastline, which features several beaches and coves.
The main beach, Lloret Beach, is a 1.6-kilometer stretch of coarse sand, well-equipped with amenities such as sunbeds, showers, and a variety of water sports facilities.
Another notable beach is Fenals Beach, located in a sheltered bay, offering a quieter alternative to the bustling main beach.
Aside from its beaches, Lloret de Mar boasts a rich cultural heritage. The town's history dates back to the Iberian and Roman periods, and several historical landmarks are well-preserved.
The Church of Sant Romà, a Gothic-style church with Renaissance and Modernist influences, is one of the town's most iconic structures. The Santa Clotilde Gardens, designed in the Italian Renaissance style, offer stunning views of the sea and are a testament to the town’s artistic legacy.
Lloret de Mar is also home to several museums, such as the Maritime Museum, which provides insights into the town’s maritime history and the evolution of its fishing industry.
For those interested in outdoor activities, there are numerous hiking and cycling trails in the surrounding hills, such as the coastal path (Camí de Ronda), which offers scenic views of the rugged coastline.
The town's nightlife is another major draw, with numerous bars, clubs, and restaurants catering to a wide range of tastes and preferences. This lively atmosphere and the town's numerous festivals and events make Lloret de Mar a dynamic and engaging destination.
Lloret de Mar is easily accessible, with frequent bus services connecting it to major cities like Barcelona and Girona. The nearest airports are Girona-Costa Brava Airport and Barcelona-El Prat Airport, both of which offer a range of domestic and international flights.
