    Why not just get a second hand beautiful tweed coat and a second hand denim jacket and take them to a tailor to merge them. It would cost a fraction of the price plus you could choose the exact fade of denim and tweed that you like.

    • @DavidMoseer
      @DavidMoseer  Před 3 lety

      Well I guess its not only about the materials but cutting, pattern work etc..

      @@DavidMoseer Thanks for getting back to me. I didn't want to be too heavily critical about the item as it's something that you are happy with and that's the main thing.
      My background is in tailoring, I studied fashion too as an Ma student. Just to pick up on what you said about it having qualities in cutting, pattern work etc, It doesn't. It has no pattern work at all tbh, it is just a quite crude cut & sew job really. You can see how the shape of the jacket is at odds with the added denim, how the edges are not harmonious. It is the most basic cut & sew job that is possible. The way the denim sleeves are loosely hem stitched to the end of the the other coat is so crude it's a bit shocking to me that Greg Lauren has the nerve to charge more than 200 instead of 2000 for these.
      If you did take a tweed coat and a denim jacket to a tailors and said you wanted the denim button stand and collar and sleeve ends merged into the tweed coat to be honest a basic tailor would do a far superior job than what this Greg piece has done.
      I do appreciate reworked pieces a lot and also the inherent ad-hoc aspect of them as there is a visceral quality and honesty to that which is hugely appealing. Pieces by By Walid, Bode, Kapital etc exemplify that, and Greg Lauren is far away from that quality and integrity in my opinion.
      Away from the crude sewing, cutting, basic construction techniques that he doesn't even attempt tbh there is a loose appeal in the match up denim he mixes up with more army jacket, tweed, browns etc which is nice. I do like his kimono style pieces.
      Just all my opinion so do disagree if you care too. I do love your style and channel so sorry for this negative Greg Lauren observation.

    Hello and very nice to meet you. Great to see the passion you put in describing the clothes. This is so appreciated... Greg Lauren is awesome and it seems to fit well on you. As for sizing, if that is not too much to ask, may I ask you how tall you are? Just to get a feeling. I am 183 cms and 82kgs. Thanks again for your cool reviews.

    @Null-941 Před 3 lety +2

    Way too overpriced for that build quality and material. His price tag should aim at Sacai maybe just little bit above it, you know, for the sake of that “beaten/rough/pseudo-avant garde” aesthetic

    • @sylasmalone6126
      @sylasmalone6126 Před 3 lety

      That's what I thought the style and overall design is crazy but just watching this video the craftsmanship doesn't seem to reflect what the retail prices are.

  • @leebishop7591
    @leebishop7591 Před 2 lety +1

    I like Greg's stuff but the price point kills. It's bad enuff saving for a Rick or Yohji or Boris piece. Now I gotta worry about another designer? LOL.

    I bought my first greg piece last summer sale, it was a parka that I managed to buy for 80% off. It is a very nice piece of clothing but I must say that the quality is not as good as it should be considering the retail price of the item. I would still recommended Greg Lauren if you can get it at a discount though.

    • @DavidMoseer
      @DavidMoseer  Před 3 lety

      That sucks! I am pretty happy with the quality on this jacket I have to say but I see your point: for the retail prices the quality must be insanely good!

    • @leodank6904
      @leodank6904 Před 3 lety +1

      @@DavidMoseer I agree that the quality is nice, I just expected more from a piece that retails for 5k+ euros. It unfortunately seems like the prices are set with rich Chinese people in mind (similar to visvim) and thats probably why they are so unreasonably high.

    ive always been really interested in Greg Lauren's pieces but never did pull the trigger though ive been considering it more and more lately. I am 6'2 and typically wear a size XL - would you say size 3-4 would fit depending on the cut? Ive noticed a few of his pieces like some of the flannels are a bit more oversized.
    that jacket is so nice - I think another interesting way to style the sleeves might be buttoning down the denim part of the sleeve and rolling the tweed cuffed back once might look cool if you can do that with how its constructed.

    • @DavidMoseer
      @DavidMoseer  Před 3 lety

      Hi Chris,
      yeah absolutely size 3-4 would fit depending on the cut.. Sleeves are usually pretty long but you should watch out for s2s measurements!

    All this time i didn’t know he was Ralph Lauren’s nephew😑
    Anyways, tweeds look cool! Maybe not for me yet haha but when i become an adult i probably will have at least one!
    Your piece looks very good! Those denim parts look quite odd at first but I think they really blend in well at the end.

      They like overpriced stuff I guess. Amazing pieces but the retail seems to much for what you actually get. A skilled fabric worker or sewer could make pieces like this with vintage garments probably for like a few hundred dollars or less.

      @@sylasmalone6126 Yah true, I remember there was a saying on how Greg is overpriced, and how the pieces could be mch cheaper.
