Hi Egils, I am almost at a loss for words. I have seen so many video claiming to teach dance technique. None comes close to the clarity and patience of yours.
What I especially like that I can actually see what the feet do, and also that you demonstrate the steps with some arm action. Because of it the exercises don't really look like exercises but become beautiful movements in their own right.
+Peter Reber thanks for appreciating our dance exercises. For me it's important to know they are clear and useful. Egils
Truly I believe there is more to this than just dancing. I think it goes much deeper and in my job I see people every day who could benefit from your skill and ideas. Your relaxed approach is very therapeutic. Amazing! Thank you.
So simple and to the point, this is sure to improve my dancing!
+Connie, happy you like our exercises. Have fun and improve dancing 💃
Professional and respectful teaching. I would pay for your videos.
Lilly Wu 👍
i just watched this again and realised it would also be a great exercise for people with neurological problems such as Parkinsons and other conditions. it really impressed me as it would be fun to do as well as helping people.
Foot and Leg Exercises for Ballroom Dancing.
Thank you Egils....
Great video. I think these exercises will really help to develop good motion techniques. Some of my beginners need help finding body shape and frame relative to partner. They look nice in their own, but not always able to maintain balance, rotate head, and frame evenly with partner. Outside partner to closed position to promenade. Love your teaching.
+radrickdavis thanks for comment, hope our videos will help your beginners in some small way. I plan to make video with exercises also for posture and hold.
Thank you Egils.
wellcome 👍
Hello Egils, your foot exercise movements are like Tai Chi but for dancing. I am trying to learn these basic steps first. I have difficulty in coordinating my feet 😆
Glad you enjoyed “tai chi” for dancing! 👍
That will be fantastic.
Thanks, Egils, interesting and useful!
I just tried it in my practice today: it was extremely useful! Thanks again, Egils :-)
I'm glad to hear that you really tried exercises! 👍
i recently started to be interested in waltz and your video of exercises is really informative, im sure to do alot of it at home before i decide on proper dance lessons, thank you :)
Thanks dusieqq for watching this video! Wish you to enjoy these exercises!
@@EgilsSmagris i do! ive been doing those exercises for the first time like an hour ago and i can definitely say that my balance is off on my left leg so now i know where i have to put extra work at.
That’s good, identify and then improve. Wish you to develop your dancing!
Fantastic. Thank you
+Brian, I'm happy to hear from you!

Thanks a lot Egils
+Søren Maigaard, happy you like 👍
WOW, I have searched and searched the Internet for exercises like these and found nothing.
Perfect, I have wanted exercises to develop technique, co-ordination, style and balance. MUCH thanks for this video. Please Please please make more, especially for the Latin dances as Jive and Cha. Exercises to get hip rotation, foot placement, balance, the "hop" in jive and "bounce" in Quickstep, etc.
Thank you so much for these videos!
Question: Do we eventually increase the speed of these exercises as we develop co-ordination and balance, or keep it at the speed you show in the video?
(PS: My name is Mark)
+viewer087 thanks for feedback!! Good to know that you are interested in Exercises - I will put this to my future plans! :)
+Egils Smagris : videos like these from a qualified and experienced International Dancesport adjudicator, how can I go wrong. :)
Mark, i just now read your first comment till end! :) About speed of exercise I would suggest start with very slow tempo and then slightly increase. Exercises usually work best when they are slower than normal movement or if they are faster than normal.
+Egils Smagris Thank-you. Granted, I am not as skilled as you, but I believe (so far) that the speed increase really shouldn't go faster than the official tempo of the music.
Sometimes it can go faster, for example when you prepare yourself for possibility of very fast quickstep in competition, bearing in mind that you can be physically tired at that time in final. You can for purpose train movements to deal with that. But you're right mostly we do slow exercises.
Very very good ...
Thanks Rudi for appreciating this video

Thanks, Brian, you are encouraging me to plan videos also with other Exercises!

Brian, your comment surprised me at first, but then I thought logically if exercise helps to stretch dancer's nerves and muscles and develops coordination, may be it helps also people with serious medical problems.
