It really isn't absolutely necessary. People just say that it keeps it balanced correctly with the vehicle. Myth? Most likely.
So I guess I need some clarification on the part numbers. The Rear drive shaft link you are providing, does that work on both ends of the rear drive shaft? Then you have a link to the Front u joint....same question, does it work on both ends of the front drive shaft?? Or are you saying thats the Front U joint part number for the rear driveshaft (correct part number for the front U joint ON the rear driveshaft where it goes into the transfer case) . Please expand on this so I can ensure I am ordering the correct parts in advance....Thanks!
Rear U Joint works on both ends of rear driveline. Front U Joint works on both ends of front driveline. Same part number covers the rear driveline, same thingvwith the rear U joint
What do you do if you don't have a torch how do I get them out? Dropping my driveline tomorrow cuz I saw those pins n had no clue wth
Buy a small propane torch at the hardware store. The tanks are like $6 and the cheap nozzle is about $20.

Thank you for the feedback and the info to let the views know there are other way and other tool that can be used to do this job. Although those tools are available and may or may not make the job easier, you will definitely want to let the driveline cool off for about a half hour or so before removing the U-joints with one of those tools. Yes most definitely those tools make removing the u joint a lot easier and faster and less chance of damaging especially if you’re working on aluminum driveshaft
I was thinking the same thing. He is spot on using a torch to melt out the plastic but I don't agree with using a hammer in that manner, especially on the drive shaft itself which is aluminum and can be easily damaged. A ball joint tool can be used to remove them and often times you can press the new ones in with a vise.
