    If anyone from Chapman Guitars sees this, consider making the 5 string a 35" scale. It really makes a difference and will set it apart from many other basses! Super excited for these though, almost certainly getting the 5 string!

    Would of loved to of seen a Tele shaped multiscale/ fan fret bass with bartoloni b axis single coils for growl and punch with a dark glass preamp, go alder for a cheap body price with a maple neck, sell for 450 to 600 it would eat up the bass market. A brass nut and a high mass bridge would be sick would make it stand out

  • @A.J.K87
    @A.J.K87 Před 6 lety +3

    Is it me or are the pickups on the fan fret not exactly parallel? It could be the camera angle and the wood patterns playing tricks on my eyes, but it looks like the bridge pickup has a slightly steeper angle than the neck pickup. It looks a little sloppy imo. If what I'm saying is true I do hope for them they'll fix that in the production models.

    • @dumbstupid5065
      @dumbstupid5065 Před 6 lety +3

      Interesting observation, but it doesn't look out of place or in any way distracting to my eyes. Fan frets in general don't look aesthetically correct to me, though, so pickups not being exactly parallel probably wouldn't make much difference.

    • @churchers
      @churchers Před 6 lety +2

      Yeah I think it's to keep in line with the scale of each string, so they actually fan out like the frets. Even though it may look weird, if they were lined up the bridge pickup would actually be skewed in relation to the strings, and of course having the pickup sound uniform across the strings is more important.

    • @A.J.K87
      @A.J.K87 Před 6 lety +3

      I never thought of that. Makes sense. Thanks guys. It still looks wrong to me, but sound is way more important. I agree that fan frets look weird anyway so misaligned pickups are no big deal I guess :)

    • @richardharrold9736
      @richardharrold9736 Před 6 lety

      Probably just a bit of perspective due to camera angle.

    • @jaxoncook3862
      @jaxoncook3862 Před 6 lety

      They follow the same angle as the standard scale, so instead of being two straight single coils like a Jazz Bass the bridge pickup is slightly angled back like a Warwick thumb, the fan fret has the angled pickups to accommodate an even tone with the different scale lengths but still has that Thumb bass angle to the bridge pickup

    • @Felix_479
      @Felix_479 Před 6 lety

      malte365 I’m not sure though. Would love to compare both, i think it could keep up with a dingwall bass. Nevertheless I’m a little bit disappointed, because chapman guitars (and basses) used to be very affordable (at least the models I know) and still would easily be able to keep up with other guitars from different brands that would cost a lot more money. Now this bass is just “another expensive instrument” (sounds quite more bad than it should) to me, kind of lost the special thing that chapman meant to me.

    • @BETAsin
      @BETAsin Před 6 lety

      I have an original korean ml3 and tbh i'm glad they gone up a spec in terms of quality. The originals were good for the money, but only about the same as any other similarly priced guitar. Don't be under any illusions that you are getting a free lunch by buying affordable chapman, you get exactly what you pay for.

    I must admit the price really threw me a bit. The prices that these are pushing now I can "potentially" (I use that term loosely) get a kiesel made to my specs for 1 or 2 hundred more. Also these will have a low resale value.

    • @dpb22
      @dpb22 Před 6 lety +7

      B Thomas - The Keisel won't have any resale value either.

    • @Steve-nq8jc
      @Steve-nq8jc Před 6 lety +1

      Douglas Bell compared to the Chapman it would be interesting to see actually. I think the kiesel would be built to a far higher standard.

    • @dpb22
      @dpb22 Před 6 lety +2

      B Thomas - All I know is I've purchased a ML-1 2015 a few months back and I sold it at a profit because I didn't like the neck shape. Right now Chapman's are popular so the resale is ok. The question is what happens in a few years.

    • @Steve-nq8jc
      @Steve-nq8jc Před 6 lety

      Douglas Bell with the new British Standards if they are good it may lift the brand. I know the new pro range has. But as the market becomes saturated the price will crash. I've had an ML1 ash, Ml2 Classic and a ML1 Hotrod! All were great workhorse guitars. But all sold at a major loss from new. Under half price. The only one I miss is the Hotrod. depending where you are in the world the price does fluctuate. Here in England they come available used alot so prices are around 35-45% of new. Just because a guitar is selling for X price doesn't mean you'll get that. Really depends on the market, how many are available and time of the year. Chapman is hot right now though.

    • @dpb22
      @dpb22 Před 6 lety +1

      B Thomas - I think the market in general is just flooded. Locally MIM strats are selling for $300-350 used which is half price. There are three LP Studios at a local Guitar Center for between $500 - 550 and they are just sitting. Those were $900 new. It's nuts.

Returned for a ESP LTD built in same Korean factory and it was much better quality...but Gibson Gibson is 2/2 defective and theirs Guitars were several times the price, so I blame people that buy over price garbage that needs repaired out of the box and still rate them 5/5.
