yeah theres even an equation in stats for this called conditional probabilty, which you pretty stated. If A then B, since your next coin toss isnt dependemt on your last coin toss, its probability isn't. going to change. Example of one which it would, is the odds you pick up a 7 from a 52 card deck if you just picked up and didnt put back a 6

So when u see that black has come out 10x in a row you immediately think red is the next spin and that’s when most people double there bet in red and guess what Black comes out again lol

Side note: I don't know if you know this, but rock (unlike ki blasts) doesn't get destroyed when the defender sparks, so it can hit the defender right after spark & interrupt whatever they're trying to do. I suspect some of the oki setups Fashow used here were using the rocks to try and defend against/punish wakeup spark. Something to think about

Unless you're talking about RNG in a computer program which has like some kind of pattern in generating numbers, irl if you flip a coin, no matter what you had before, it still depends on how your arm, which muscles, positioned where and how and used how much power in what precise direction etc and many things that we don't, or can't (unless you train for it if it's possible) oversee when flipping a coin. Even if you got heads a million times in a raw, it's still 50/50, just as same if you were flipping it for the first time.
I found this one really interesting when talking to cooworkers about lottery number choices.
I try to explain that the numbers you choose are irrelevant to your chances. Strangely, they tell me that reviewing what numbers come up more often and picking them, helps. So a number that comes up a lot is "more" likely in their mind. But then at the same time, they believe any specific sequence of numbers can only happen a single time and will be "less" likely to happen again.
I find that kind of misunderstanding of randomness to be absolutely fascinating.
They also argued that choosing numbers close to one another sequentially, lowered your odds somehow.
All of this was sparked because I told them if I personally played the lottery, which I don't, I would purposefully try to pick numbers that no other would. Because the only real way to hedge your bets is to decrease the likelihood of having to split a winning pot. So I'd avoid numbers between 1-12 or 1-31, because people love dates. And I'd choose sequential numbers because people think those are somehow less likely. So I'd probably play the largest sequential set of numbers.
Admittedly this doesn't change my odds of winning, but it ever so marginally decreases the chance that if I did win, I'd have to split the pot with someone.

The odds of winning one flip is 50%. The odds of winning 11 flips in a row is 50% to the 11th power. Regardless of the previous evidence. It's a geometric distribution and it's said to have "no memory" because of this fact.

I remember playing dragon ball bodokai 2 and getting krillin and uub, and a 3rd player didn't need to use it. Always loved krillins moves.
Concerning the statistics discussion. This is a simple basic probability problem. You have 11 trials, and you want all 11 trials to be heads. The chance of heads is 50% (1/2 or 0.5). Each trial is counted independently thus you must multiply each successive trial. The end equation is 0.5^11 which equals a little less than 0.0005. You cannot say it is still 50% if the original question is getting 11 heads *in a row*. The event is counted as 11 trails, not a single trial. If the question was, "what is the probability of getting heads after 10 heads in a row?" THEN you can say it is 50% because the event is now a single independent trial which means 0.5^1 which equals 0.5.
TLDR: Statistics can be a very confusing subject which is based on how the question is phrased.

This guy is correct. The likely hood of getting tails on the 11th flip is 50%. However getting tails 11 times in a row is .0005%. Rounded to four decimal places.
Here is the logic.
50% chance for tails on the 11th roll.
There are only two sides to the coin. So every time you flip the coin. You will always have a 1/2 or 50% chance on getting tails. Doesn't matter if you get heads or tails in the first ten rolls. On the 11th flip. You will still have 50% chance to get tails on the 11th flip.
Getting tails on 11 straight coin flips.
So you have 50% chance of getting tails. Let's say you get tails on the first flip. You have 50% chance getting tails on the second flip. You have 50% chance on getting tails on the third flip. So on and so forth. So your chances of getting tails 11 times in a row is (.5=50%) .5*.5*.5*.5*.5*.5*.*5*.5*.5*.5*5=.0004882812

Thing at the start, with the 50/50 with coins, simplified:
If you were to say, flip a coin 10 times and they’re all heads, it doesn’t affect what the 11th flip can and will be, because no matter what, it’s a 50/50 chance to get either heads, or tails no matter how many times you’ve flipped it.
Vyrawll the fan was right. Flipping multiple times would represent a sample. Yes flipping once is a 50/50 but in a sample you’d expect an average. If you’re flipping 20 times and the first ten were heads (as crazy as it might sound) you’d expect tails for the final 10 times because the average should only be 10 heads. That’s what the person is trying to say with the 11th time thing
I R it’s what you’d expect, but the Probability Of each individual flip being a heads or a tails is still just a 50/50.
If you go into if I were to flip 20 heads and they’re all gonna be heads, that’s a different probability than, if I’ve flipped ten heads, then the 11th will be a tails. That 11th is still a 50/50, whereas the aforementioned 20 and all heads prediction is a much slimmer chance.
It’s all in the way the prediction is worded.
You can do two throws in a combo and you can do them back to back even.

actually the probability of a 7 roll is much higher because of the combinations to make 7 are more common 5/2 and 4/3 and 6/1 against say 2 or 12 which only have 1/3 of a chance of 7.
I know nobody is arguing this anymore, but the odds of rolling H,H,H,H,H is the same as rolling H,H,H,H,T. So even statistically the odds of rolling 10 Heads in a row is the same as the odds of rolling 9 Heads in a row THEN rolling a Tails

In regards to the beginning, both ways of thinking are valid. It is technically a 50/50 because it is just a coin flip, but having already gotten 10 heads in a row, your chances of getting another heads ARE significantly lower. So long as you are not following either reasoning as gospel and accept that you cannot actually say for sure what the next flip is, it is a reasonable assumption to believe tails will come up next.
As an aside, getting 10 heads in a row is a 0.0977% chance of happening, and for it to happen one more time would be 0.0488% chance. But it is a 50/50, but statistically, you are inclined to get a tails next.

@@jmcrofts What I was getting at, was not saying either are absolutely true. It is about your frame of mind and how you are choosing to interpret things as a whole. You have people who see each flip as its own event, which is valid because this is true at a basic, rational level. Other people choose to interpret the entire event as one thing, which would mean a chain of flips, which /statistically/ skew chances. Not literally skew them, but statistically. Interpreting the event at a statistical level.
Both are valid ways of thinking, so long as they are not taken as gospel. Think whichever way lets you more comfortably think over the pros and cons of betting on coin flips.

No matter which way you look at it, the odds of a single coin flip being heads is always 50/50. Think of it this way: the odds of getting heads 5 times is 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2 * 1/2. Or another way of writing this is odds=(1/16) * 1/2, 1/16 being the odds of flipping 4 heads in a row. However, if you have already flipped 4 heads in a row and you are about to flip for the 5th heads, the 1/16 chance of flipping 4 heads in a row actually becomes 100% (since it's already happened.) So the odds are (1) * 1/2 = 1/2
@@jmcrofts That explanation makes less sense to me. Getting 5 heads in a row is 1/32, yes. But does you just arbitrarily decide "Alright, so after flipping heads 7 times, these next three flips are all gonna be heads."
That feels like such a weird way to me to interpret a series of chances. The initial 7 flips being all 1/2 because they were individual, but the series that is happening in the same timespan because you arbitrarily decided it would be a series not has a 1/8 chance of happening, without any regards to the other 7 flips, despite the fact that the same logic applies.
Going half and half is, in my opinion, the worst way to interpret logic, because that is effectively cherry picking your believed chances. It makes more sense to interpret it as all 50/50s, or consider it all one growing series and act accordingly.
