Exactly. Don't see anything comparable at the moment.
@@ghost.actual718 as you type on something most likely assempled by foxcon.
🤣Exactly, they even forced Trijicon to actually do something cuz their old RMR sucks for the price nowadays. Holosun prob helped to arm Americans more than many Amerian optic company would ever do.

The thermal performs better than I ever imagined it would.. This thing is going to be a hit
That intro propelled me straight back to 2009. Weird times. Had be rolling though🤣

I think something very important to consider is that not only
"the good guys" have night vision, every time you use your PEQ or MAWL or NGAL etc, you are giving away your position, It is paramount that we start transitioning away from laser aiming modules and towards optics like these as well as clip on alternatives and becoming more proficient in passive aiming
That's a very good point. It would be like using a laser pointer. Everyone can see where it's coming from
im happy that more and more people starts to realize this. the age of active aiming is fading away for sure. NVDs are only getting cheaper and better quality to the point where much more people would have access to them.
Was told last night ar British Army reserves drill night, that on training exercises in future, having white or red lights on at night will be considered an ND
Shooting with an IR laser will likely remain the standard for CQC for the foreseeable future. But for mid to long range its days are numbered. Somebody using a laser or an IR illuminator in an open area is going to get lit up by someone using an optic like this.
@@supremeovernerdOPSEC brother, OPSEC - Chap I know your comment didn't give away tactics but it did just give away an SOP, and it will lead to bad habits of breaking OPSEC if you're not careful mate. The phrase goes "Know your enemy" NOT

At sniper school the instructors take blow torches to the steel targets when shooting thermal. Just some food for thought incase you guys read this.
@24:00 That's what Lucas from T-Rex Arms would say about Holosuns. they don't sell Holosuns just because they are made in China and they wont event give them a chance. I'm glad you guys are here for us civilians and are looking at products that we can afford.
It's not because they're "made in China"- it's because Holosun is a CCP funded Chinese Company called Huanic, Inc., and part of the CCP's Mil-Ind complex. Huanic decided they wanted to steal a part of the western electro-optics market so they invented the name 'Holosun', and cheap U.S. Mo-Fos love them some slave labor exploited stuff.
he is kinda stupid retard, the fun fact is some of his products are made in China too
Being that holosun is a Chinese military organization and we're more or less in a cold war with China, buying or selling Chinese optics is a bad look
Ideology is the poison that bad politicians created
Yeah, T-Rex is a great company, but they’re homeschooled gun snobs. There’s a limited understanding of what is outside their envelope and a very limited world view as a result. They make SPECTACULAR holsters, offer amazing products on their site to round out a deep catalog of products. I won’t bash them in any way, they just look at things from a different perspective, and their social commentaries paint that picture. Much respect to all.
These videos are getting better and better. I love the cinematic skits at the start of the videos. Good job guys. Keep it up
Thanks a ton!
The painted nails haha. You guys put alot of heart in that skit. Hilarious!
Was it Sharpie?!
they even looked chewed on from teen angst and anxiety
Something to consider too, if youre building a budget SHTF setup, you're poor, in college, etc. The end all be all of night fighting, someone with night vision will beat someone without.
So if you cant afford a head setup, binocs, etc, then with the price of this optic and you already have different main optic, then this seems like a good option
Thermals beat all, dont need any illum to see heat. I desperately want a COTI setup, but im a poor 😢
they offer thermal as well warranty and all, I've used them, they're the real deal@@sonofnone116
Imo thermal beats night vision. IR light isn't needed with thermal, and they work far better for detection than NV ever will
@@P90XGetRipped Thermal needs to be coupled with night vision or you end up shooting the wrong people. That happened a lot during the Ukraine civil war before thermal ROE was developed.
PVS 14 mono on non dominant eye and Holoson thermal on weapon.
Wearing nail polish while loading up that mag was a really nice touch. Well done fellas
I also like how the fudd dad is complaining about how the thermals and lights are useless and so the emo son proves him wrong... by hip firing and not using any of the gizmos mounted on his rifle. lol
For a first generation and for the low price point, I’m pretty impressed. Especially for a night with low ambient light.
@@MrLivingRoomyeh unless you already have a full night vision setup this is about as good as it’s going to get without spending thousands
Didn't they say it's digital night vision?
@@Romanus- this is good for close quarters or hog hunting with an AR or PCC.
@@heyarnodigital IR vision is just a video camera sensitive to IR. CMOS chips used in video cameras are naturally sensitive to near IR. Video cameras actually have IR filters built into them, but can still see some IR (point your regular old video camera at your tv remote and you can it flash). A digital "night vision" scope typically has those filters removed for more IR sensitivity while still able to work in the day time. Current digital options still require an active IR light source to work well and still won't compete with analog intensifier tubes, but it is getting better. I think Sionyx Opsin is currently the most sensitive digital that starts to rival analog tubes, but isn't quite there yet. Maybe another generation or two and it'll really start overtaking analog.
Thermal is a different beast. It sees far infrared, i.e. "heat." But, as you've probably noticed, thermal scopes are quite expensive because of the technology needed to make it work. For example, the lens isn't glass (far IR doesn't penetrate glass), so they have to use something else, typically germanium, which isn't cheap. You'll also notice that thermal scope resolutions are quite low and that's because the sensors sensitive to far IR need larger pixels in order to pick up the signature, so resolution is limited by the physical space of the sensor. Typical thermal resolutions are 160x120, up to 640x480, although some claim a 1280x1024 resolution through interpolation of the 640x480 sensor's native resolution.
That isn't a low price. AGM rattler is 1k and has way better "glass" and sensor quality than what holosun is using. Heck even Torry Pines before they went to non-gun related thermals used to sell a 256 sensor which is the exact same the holosun uses but it was only $400.
Congrats to Drew for not getting shot
lmao
Bro i was worried all the time. The background music!😅
and why would he got shot in the first place
@cainmarko335 other dude was supposedly aiming at him with his sbr to test the optic
@@cainmarko335 cuz its like a running joke on their channel that Drew dies all the time
That Thermal set up looks like it might be pretty good for coyote/pig hunting. I'll definitely take a closer look at them.
In thicker brush where line of sight is limited I could see coyotes and pig being a great use for this.
Yea I was thinking of this on a 45 Cmmg banshee. Would be a great little compact. When not being able to lug around the 6.5 grendal and tripod.
I don't understand coyote hunting. If you aren't going to eat it, you shouldn't kill it. The only other time you should something like a coyote is if it is attacking livestock. But too many whack jobs shoot them just to shoot them. It's f'd up.
@@huwhitecavebeast1972 First off I do have livestock. Second you are obviously not from out in the country and have no real understanding of coyotes or their behavior. It's not fun to explain to a 6-year-old that coyotes killed their dog just because they could. This could have a genuine conversation if you hadn't made the decision to be a judgmental POS in the last sentence. So, F**k you very much and kick rocks.
@@huwhitecavebeast1972 there's a reason there's an open season on hogs and coyotes in many states... They are either invasive to that area of very destructive.

I don't know what I was expecting from the intro, but it wasn't that. Damn I love this channel!
I literally have never heard of this channel and subscribed purely off that into, keep it going guys
Same😂
i did as well!!!!
The intro to this video earned a sub from me too.
Ditto!
Haha, thanks man. Glad you enjoyed it.
I had tears coming down my face on that intro. You guys never disappoint.
I think the biggest thing holding me back on the thermal in particular is I know there's better tech in thermal units that makes those optics more useful for their intended purpose. What Holosun is doing with these, especially for the price, is pretty awesome. I just think I'd hold off on them for another generation or two and go with a clip-on for now, but I love where this kind of fusion/overlay technology is going and these products are very impressive for the price points.
Agreed. I’m not about to drop the money on it right now, I have some other things going on in my life. But by the time I get around it, this is going on a build and they’ll probably be on a new gen
Its a day holo and night holo though
God I hope they make a budget set of nods. This is a great start but it’s only use case is being stationary IMO. You can’t be moving around at night just staring through your dot of course so I think it’s application is pretty limited at the moment. If they could produce some decent quality nods and IR set that would be amazing. Have a feeling the government will be targeting night vision in the future so hopefully as many people can get some as possible and with current prices just going up and up it’s just not feasible for most people
Do you know anything that's better for the same price? I've been looking for a thermal to hunt hogs with but can't find anything else this cheap that works.
@@Romanus-this is all digital. They have no production means to make actual nods. It's going to be a while before digital catches up. Theres several videos out there on the best digital nods but the refresh rates are just too low for any tactical use.
Ok bro. That’s one of the best fun intros. No lame skits, just genuinely funny content. Well done yall
Ty for review ! We waited forever on this
The intro is unironically me and I love you for making this
Loved the intro. Takes me back to the late 90's, early 2000's
This has become my new favorite gun channel. You guys are a hoot
These intros are honestly some of the best parts of this channel. You guys are great.
Sadly, being made in China is a bonus these days. I heard no talk of integrated GPS, which means no geofencing shutting down by government, which is prevalent on a lot of high end USA made thermal units including Garmin.
That intro was bananas 😂 God, I love you guys.
300+ detection range? that's great! definetly worth following up
Right? Everywhere I saw it said this would only pick up from 25-maybe 60 yds.
@@Brian-ev5cr My first cheap thermal monocular I can detect a human to about 75 yards. Beyond that I can only pick up blotches of heat source. Which if you know your environment would be useful because you would know something is there. Although I upgraded I still find it handy to maneuver in the dark. Moving is slow but doable.
The thermal version would work for people standing watch in a lot of situations I think. And not terrible expensive.
@@lanejohnson7656yeh I think it’s perfect for a home defense weapon for people with a large property. Paired with some motion censors to alert you that someone or an animal of some kind has entered your property, being able to use the thermal/NV you can quickly identify what is out there and then act accordingly. If it is a self defense scenario you can identify the threat without giving up your location or letting them know you’re aware there’s a threat present. Hopefully holosun comes out with budget nods as if they could pull that off they’d sell a ton of them
Detection range can go even further than that. Another early user reported 1000m. Identification range is different though. That's closer to 300-500m depending on the size/shape of what you're trying to detect. For example, even at that range you can tell the difference between a standing human and an animal, but not between a coyote and a pig. Hope that makes sense. Still, amazing for the price point.

Thank you , best review and info yet.
I see these being most practically useful in an overwatch or area defense scenario. Think the Banghazi night defense scene in 13 Hours. It's definitely a solid first swing for Holosun getting intonthe thermal and IR game and I'm stoked to see what this'll do for the firearms accessory market and can't wait to see their 2nd and 3rd gens for these.
Agree
With digital refresh rates, that's the only real use.
Holy shit these guys need to do 2A SNL skits. That intro was golden.
On the thermal, the AGM Rattler 25-384 is $1800 and far superior. I pair it with an off set rmr, but you could offset a much cheaper red dot and have a much better overall package. Thanks for the content brother! Great videos as always.
I'd probably argue the even cheaper Rattler 19-256 holds up to it for just $1k.
I have the TS-50- 640 well worth the price.
In ways is it far superior? This is also NV tho so I think that has to be considered in terms of value
@Romanus- it's one or the other, it's not both.
Currently debating between the thermal Holosun vs the rattler v2 25-256

Content just keeps getting better. Killer intro. Keep it up gents
The "Chinese" argument is so tired at this point, for the points you made and also the lack of innovation by US companies and the unwillingness to make civilian accessible products. (Most) US companies only serve the Military Industry, and it is a highly corrupt industry. Also, that intro was so fire, I instantly grew bangs.
I agree. Better get these before they get restricted, competition is not allowed.
For an American to use the excuse of "ethics" against a Chinese product, they will have to stop using all their own products first, for all the shit they are doing and supporting others to do.
America is the only one who keeps vetoing against the UN resolution for ceases fire in palestine, when literally rest of the world agrees with the resolution.
Agreed. They make great products that >> push >> similar industries/associated forward...
Seriously. The US just doesn't offer a lot of the same stuff. Just look at the holosun EPS, it's pretty much the only closed emitter red dot of the size, everyone else in the states can't be assed to offer similar
Yeah…if they service civilians with their products they can’t fleece the government. It’s a fact. So these companies seek only govt contracts so they can sell the optics that should cost 1000 to 2000, for 15k. Yeah it’s a scam.
So, you wouldn't recommend this thermal for hog hunting?
You guys had to much fun.

Just watched this after your guys “how to” for rifle painting. These intro’s are hilarious man. Definitely earned my sub, keep em coming!
With everyone running nods nowadays, I would much prefer to have the thermal to shoot with. In an opfor situation, not having to engage threats with lasers or illuminators is a huge advantage. Also, it eliminates the need to passive aim, which is a pain in the neck. Literally.
Great review. Recently picked up a Sight Mark Wraith and am very pleased with it. Looking forward to new tech in thermal/ambient light overlays and lower prices! Ease of access to thermals will create a "must-have" for operators in the field.
Great intro skit! I thought that the LMT vs MCX video had too much shooting footage as filler content (constructive criticism) but this one was very on the ball. Well done! Keep up the good work!
Loved the final thoughts.. especially regarding availability to the civilian market, vs the other guys who favor military sales thru price and policy. Good informative video.
