In this video, we discuss rentier capitalism, especially the roles played by private equity funds like Blackstone, and its impact on physical and social infrastructure. We also discuss the state and political parties' role in confronting rentier capitalism. And finally, we end with a criticism of mainstream literature on rentier capitalism that sometimes presents welfare capitalism as highly productive, from a Global South perspective.

Guys, we want to work full-time on this. If your wallet allows please drop us some support. We prefer the PayPal method since we don't lose half of the money, but you can also give us a super chat. If you are a large donor, we would obviously get in touch with you to give something back if we can. But if you can't no worries. Please like, share, and subscribe. That means a lot already

Fantastic work. The mechanisms and nationally specific features of capitalism and neo- liberalism are such necessay points for illumination.

Even an old woman like me can see the wood for the trees regarding rentier capitalism……… the system is entrenched, has been for over 100 years…… longer. Marx was right.

Love you guys so much. This was a great guest and overview discussion of rentier capitalism. It would be great to have follow up interview with Mr. Christopher's or other guests to further address the question of the States' role in "equalizing" markets/shifting power from private real asset interests. You may have already done so in a recent interview which I may have missed though, so I will check 😊 Thank you again for the work you do and for leading these interviews so well!

Love you too Christina. Comments like these keep us going. Sometime the algorithm doesn't help small channels, but these comments compensate for it.

I hate math and get all confused by statistics -- but even I can understand that this is a BAD thing for people like me. Thanks.

I look at rentier as the reactionary holdover of feudalism protecting the ruling class from the evolution of capitalism toward socialism and then to communism
A coherent evolution of the market can minimize discord, the hardline capitalist/socialist dichotomy pushes for upheaval

Does anyone see the problem not an issue of people investing their money with huge money managers but rather governments stifling competition in the area of housing and infrastructure. And I'd also add over taxing the incomes of the middle and lower classes and not taxing wealth of the asset holders.

Why are these false start intro's so prevalent, perhaps ubiquitous, now?
    It's as if they're obligatory.
