Everyone in the country is an agreement that it should Bellingham with Rice, Foden down the middle, Saka and Gordon out wide. It’s almost as though Southgate is being rebellious and refusing to do what the masses want!

I just saw a headline Sky, "Is this the end of the Alexander-Arnold midfield experiment?". EXPERIMENT? In a major tournament. This just sums Southgate up, he has no idea what he's doing, no idea what his best team his, no idea what his players' best positions are. He's been in the job for over 7 years and still doesn't know this, how do people defend him?

This. 100% this. How the hell are we trialing a RB in centre mid during a major tournament?! This should have been tried months ago during the build up. Southgate is a useless manager.

Nonsense. Foden drifted in the 10 yesterday. He took at least 4 shots. Three were horrible. He selfishly chose not to pass to Kane after drifting through 5 or 6 players. He tried to be the hero and failed. JB is ENG’s best player. Play around him.

@@jackdelacey2505 - excuses. How many chances does JB need to score 1 goal or influence the offense with a goal? 1 or 2. He’s clinical and is in Zen mode. Foden is an awesome player but has a weak mentality like the rest. The proof is in the choices he made. He had more shots than influential or key passes. When you try to play hero ball because you know you had some a horrible 1st game, anxiety takes over. Anxiety then disrupts technique. Hence, why he skied his shots.

The only time England played well this tournament, in the first half of the first game, Southgate criticised the team saying they need to "conserve energy". If you are Xavi, who is going to play tiki taka passes with you if you have a team of JamesMilners as your teammates?

    Maddison Bellingham Foden
    RicoLewis(IFB) Stones White Trent(IFB)
    Ramsdale
Bellingham is the closest player England have in terms of matching the Busquets skill set. Even if you don’t consider him a number 6, he has to be the one because no other players can do the Busquets job as good as he would. Foden, Palmer and Maddison can’t quite do that. Bellingham has played number 6 for Dortmund at times and also in youth football.
Palmer can play the false 9 role like Fabregas did.
RicoLewis and Trent can be the Zinchenko and Cancelo.
Eze and Grealish are probably their most tricky wingers if you want some of Ronaldinho/Neymar magic in your team.
Ramsdale, White and Stones are their most tiki taka capable GK and CBs.
England should hire a manager who has previously played under or worked with Pep. Ex Spanish player and LaMasia graduates are preferable.

G/A is useless on an individual level. It’s exactly your mentality that makes England how poor they are. In their respective clubs, they are the G/A obtainer, benefiting from what their foreign teammates have created for them. So when they play for England, no one knows how to create.
Haaland gets a lot of G/A. It just means that everyone in ManCity are creating for him, instead of creating for each other to have everyone scoring.
The TOTAL number of goals that ManCity scores is not going to be increased because Haaland is there. He just takes away the number of goals his teammates could have scored.
English fans and a lot of casual fans overrate G/A and efficiency. They forget that where do G/A comes from. They are from build up play. If you have a high G/A but you don’t have much build up play contribution, it means that you are just taking the G/A from your teammates, because the TOTAL overall G/A of your TEAM, won’t increase if you don’t add more build up play into it.
ManCity scored 99 league goals the season before Haaland joined. They scored more with playing midfielders as false 9s. The season Haaland joined , they scored 94 league goals with Haaland scoring 37 of them. If you think ManCity would score 136 goals in total after signing Haaland, adding that 37 goals to 99 goals, you are wrong.
