I bought a copy of this lens 2 years ago as a faulty for 25 dollars copy and I remember not being able to find any reviews about this model it is a fine lens
Great video. Thank you
Great review of this nice clean copy of a very beautiful lens
I like the way this one renders as well.
Brian, love your reviews! Keep it up and thank you.
Thanks for the review.
The 24mm f/2 Nikkor is a favorite lens of mine. I love using it in a 24/50/105 or 24/50/135 combo.
Thanks for the talk and I enjoy it very much. I have a small collection of the Nikon Ai-S lenses and this is one of my favourites. Have to admit I don’t use it very often nowadays and I should. Have a great day.
Oh nice!! I've been pondering getting hold of one of these recently, so your timing is perfect! Thanks Brian.
Glad I could help
yes, i have this lens and i love it as well! and i 100% share your perspective, IF(!!!) one REALLY likes it's redering and it's funky traits, then it is a gorgeous lens, and well worth it's money! in any other case, especially for someone simply looking for a good fast wide angle for allround use it actually is a bad choice - when used wide open it will look special and weird!
Just recently got a pristine pre AI 24mm f2.8 in a bundle of 5 other pristine Nikkors. For $25 each... Very nice glass in any generation or version. Sure the later 24mm f2 version with CRC is incrementally superior but the quality and sharpness shows in all versions.
Add an AF adaptor on an IBS camera and you give up nothing. The early MF Nikon primes will be shooting when the much larger plastic AF versions are forgotten.
that is a gorgous price!!
also, like said in the review, for general use the 24/2 is actually inferior in several aspects.
brilliant! very nice lens!
As usual, another very useful and interesting video, entertaining too. Thank you. RS : Canada
Got insanely lucky about 3 months ago and was able to find a bargain bin 24/2 AI-S for $75 at a local shop! It's not a focal length I use super often but I find myself enjoying this way more than the older pre-AI Nikkor 24/2.8 I used to have.
That's a great deal; nicely done!
@@BriansPhotoShow thanks! My copy of the 24/2 does have a dented filter ring so it isn't the cleanest example but so far in both night and daytime photography it hasn't failed me yet!
I got one.... And a D700... I enjoy it too....
I have the 28mm ais and just don’t like that focal length. I think I will pick up a 24mm F2.8 and a 35mm . I shoot the F3hp and have a 55mm micro and 135mm F2 lens. Plus a few 50mm 1.8 and 1.4 lenses. Though i use the 55 way more than the 50’s. I am going to get all the Nikon ais primes from 20mm to the 135 I already have.
Got one out of pure luck. It was attached to a Nikon F70 at a pawn shop in 2007. $30 . They had no clue, it looked like an old kit lens to them.
F70 is long gone, but I'll never get rid of my 24mm f/2. Works great with my D4s.
spent a whole day wth the 2.8 version on my D4 great lens
you started to say how much it was 15 yrs ago....then you stopped and changed the subject...booo
