You should try Caridina Longidigita. It's a tiny filter shrimp from sulawesi, that can breed in freshwater and is not too hard to maintain in terms of water parameters. I think they would make a nice species spotlight, as they are really not well known.

Hi Rachel, I want to write to tell you how fantastic your species spotlights are in helping me pick species for my very first tank. It’s still got a while to cycle but every day I find myself scrolling through the playlist (microdevario kubotai is my number one pick ) and they’re so useful, informative and accessible for a first time aquarist. Thanks from England!

hey Rachel can you do a video on Paratya Australiensis (ghost shrimp/glass shimp)? i found a lot of misinformation about them online as they are actually best kept in cold water tanks rather than tropical. a lot of people have issues keeping them as a result. i'd love to see you do a video to inform other hobbyists of this.

I think I would put these dark shrimp on a light substrate if that is possible. I also saw a wild porous rock that is very light colored and interesting. You would really be able to watch their actions when they don't blend into the substrate and hardscape.

I've been thinking of setting up a Sulawesi "biotope" tank with Marosatherina ladigesi, Oryzias woworae, Nomorhamphus liemi, some species of rabbit snail, and either one of two shrimp species (Caridina cf. spongicola or Caridina dennerli). However looking into shrimp I'm worried they or at least their young would be too heavily preyed upon by the fish even with a lot of rock work and plants for them to hide in. Might just end up looking into some Parathelphusa pantherina.
