    Effectively samurais' armours were heavily decorated with lacquers, and the effect was spectacular. Beautiful mini, also if I don't have any contrast paint, except GW Apothecary White, very useful for painting whites.

    Really good. Always love how colorful Japanese armor is. Its as much art as it is protection.

    Speed painted samurai, that’s what we have all been wainting for since the trip to Japan!

    I mainly use speedpaints, and am very new to painting.
    Thank you for showing off the product I have been using.
    I have learned a lot.

    Welcome back from Japan! These speedpaints look solid (err well, liquid). Was gonna say this scheme goes well with some Warcry Legionnaires! Great job per usual.

    Great as always, now I know how to speed through my ashigaru, and also like yourself, I can’t wait to paint one of my pinkertons in a pink suit (not using contrast), but all the same when the idea came to me I was like yeh, why not.

    Glad you're back, the mini looks great, but man a lot of these paints are either named appropriately or deliciously oddly enough.

    This speed paint samurai looks bangin'! Think these speed paints would also work really well for the bright facings on Napoleonic jackets.

    Looks great, especially for only using speed paints. That skin does stand out to me, seems better than guilliman flesh, will definitely try it out.

    from what I've seen the gold speedpaint looks really good. considering that I don't paint a lot of gold and that the gold details are quite small I might get a bottle just for how easy it is to use.

      I might try finding a couple colours from elsewhere in the range than just the boxed set, since there's a whole lot of the 2.0 I don't have yet. Ultimately it's the same as Contrast in that respect; if you don't mind them not being perfectly accurate, anything close enough is going to be fine once it's on the table.

      @@SonicSledgehammerStudio I painted some WWII japanese with speedpaint 1,0 on a grisaille drybrush , they look decent but quite dull compared to layered ones. I have to refine the process , I'll try using only a white undercoat...

    The figure looks great and the Speedpaint 2.0 paints are something I would like to try myself. I have a question about the shade. I have the Strong Tone and Dark Tone but I only have the Quickshade Mixing Medium. would this work instead of the Speedpaint Medium? Thanks for sharing this.

    • @SonicSledgehammerStudio
      @SonicSledgehammerStudio  Před 9 měsíci

      It should do, I've just used the Speedpaint Medium since I wanted it to have a slightly more loose, flowing consistency. The Quickshade Medium is a little more gloopy, is the best way to put it, but it'll thin the colours in much the same way I imagine. Worth trying it on a spare bit of sprayed plastic first, though!

    Hey Troy. I was one of the morons that pre-ordered Speedpaints 1.0. The reactivation was brutal. I hated them and they are back in the box and collecting dust in my closet. So I am very gun shy of buying SP 2.0. What is your honest opinion on them? Do they reactivate? And how transparent are they? Thank you 🙏 Cheers 🍻

    • @shauntaylor9251
      @shauntaylor9251 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Might be worth contacting AP and see if they'll swap them for V2 as they have ceased producing V1 now it seems

    • @SonicSledgehammerStudio
      @SonicSledgehammerStudio  Před 9 měsíci +2

      I've seen a few reviews that mention the reactivation being a thing of the past or *barely* noticeable in some extreme fringe cases, whereas I've just gone whole hog and bathed the thing in wash and medium and... nothing budged. So I have to figure it's not going to reactivate, or if it is, it's going to take some actual work to make it happen. More than that, I can't really say since I'm just playing with them for the first time, but from this first brush with them they seem pretty good.

      @@SonicSledgehammerStudio From what i've seen the reactivation only really happened when using water thinned paints so any mediums etc would not affect them
