i dont know if anyone mentioned it yet, but M/T tires actually do not do good in the snow. i found out real quick over the years with all the trucks ive owned with different wheel and tire setups. what makes a good snow tire is they hav specialized grooves, channels, and biting edges engineered to dig into snow. The tread pattern is designed to clear away slush. also snow tires use a much softer rubber, which is crucial, especially when temperatures drop below freezing. thats VERY important. hope this helps. i am in CT, we were supposed to get this little storm ya'll got, but it turned into rain for us. same thing tonight, we were suppoed to get more snow this weekend, we still may be getting some, but likely only a dusting at most instead of the 3-5 they originally forecasted. it did get very cold tonight, its been 50s-60s the last few weeks, and tonight is roughly 12 degrees. im kind of up in the air which id prefer, i wouldnt mind plowing one last time, but at the same time im just like "ehhh whatever" lol this was a horrible winter for us, i think we only went out 6 times or somewhere around there. the last time we had to plow was a small "storm" around february 13. horrible winter
I’ve used them for years without issue. What makes the difference is the width. If they’re MT tires and they’re wide, you’re right they’re useless. We run skinny tires and they eat right through like a pizza cutter. The groves you’re talking about are called sipes. What they do is open and close pinching the road.
This is why my parents evacuate upstate NY every spring. This time they're in Aruba and hitting up Scotland on the way home. Sadly, this will be normal. As in spring is Winter. You and I know this is normal because of lake temps, but later and later every year is weird. Last 5 Christmases have been over 80° here in Oklahoma. When i do visit my parents, I'm hitting y'all up and Dave at the track. We gonna take some army vehicles and race, then go down the lines on mapleton Rd. I do miss the off roading down that way.
So much for a green winter I'm across Lake Ontario from the Greater Toronto Area and this storm was pretty much our one and only significant snowfall this winter this late into the season now going into spring it sure is bipolar weather that's for sure.
Planning on heading up your way from MD for the eclipse on the 8th. Hope the weather is good. No snow and clear skies lol. Bucket list for me, always wanted to see a total eclipse.
I have. The same truck, are you having any issues with the torque converter chattering? Apparently its a common thing , its going in to get a new transmission and converter done, also i got the shop to turn off the ods so. It stays an 8 cylinder and doesn’t switch to a 4cylinder because the lifters will go bad, also a common thing with these chevs, be safe out there guys
