  • This is our Quality Control Director going through the standard inspection process for our caskets. We ensure that our customers recieve the best quality product at lowest possible cost. The quality of Chinese made caskets can be just as good if not better than American made caskets and we make sure that it is.

9 out of 10 buyers don't even pay attention to these details. Many have no idea they buy veneered woods either.

Too much emphasis placed on something going into the ground and soon forgotten.

Rather than have the whole lid replaced. Just have them lower the price! I can respect the black walnut, craftsmanship, etc? But it's gonna get messed up where it's going! Whether in the ground with a liner & a vault or above ground in a mausoleum...it's gonna get messed up! Especially when the deceased is embalmed! All that pretty, soft white interior lining is going to be trashed with decomposition & toxic fluids! I know because I've exhumed many of these caskets! I will say the solid wood casket endures much more moisture than any metal- lined contemporary! The metal seperates & corrodes quite rapidly!
I'd highly recommend a thick hardwood casket with a casket liner and placed within a concrete vault for rain distribution.
They stay very well preserved with that extra sealed liner. It has a gas pressure valve release system which doesn't allow for any moisture to leak in. It's pushed out with moisture & gas build up from decomp. A decent embalmed body can last for as long as the seals hold up. You'd be surprised how well preserved a body can appear after 40-50 yrs! Almost as if they were buried in the last year! The interior linen, lace linings & clothing are badly stained, but eveything else is prestine, if it's all done correctly.

If the customer, in my retail experience notices scratches, as in the lower corner, give 'em 10% off and call it good. In 10 years it will be as rotten as it's content. Give me the oven or a wicker basket in and open forest when I go.

An education wakeup call. If a funeral home sells a casket or you purchase one online for the prices you make certain it is up to the price they are asking. I would hate to imagine part of the handle breaking off during movement from place to place. I do care about scratches, lost finish, indentations, fillers etc. Many are right in that once you are laid to rest, it is forgotten....except for the families who would like to know they carried out the deceased wishes. Im not perfect but im not far from it. If you are going to pay for a high end casket you better look for the fine details, otherwise you will be spending for a substandard item, esp. Since many companies overseas make in mass numbers but less quality.
