Never imagined until now that your family would apply for the permanent residents of Japan. We, of course, welcome and appreciate the decision. You do not have to apply for resident visa so often periodically once you get the permanent residents status. Only for those people who stayed in Japan for ten years or more can apply for it (and also with due working experiences in Japan for five year or more). One of the many strengths of the Reuters family is that you have many close relatives as well as much more intimate friends in your neighborhood throughout church activities. I reckon that fact surely makes everyday another good day. We can feel your and your family's firm determination to commit more to Japan even from now on. Thank you!

お互いの国の文化を尊重する。そしてその国の文化を取り入れて生活する。多文化共生はよい事ですね。REUTTER-familyも日本での生活10年になるのですね。今日本に長くお住いの海外の方で、永住権や帰化申請する人が多いと聞きます。REUTTER-familyもこれだけ日本で馴染んで、日本のスタイルに溶け込んでいる事、また地域に貢献されている事を思うと、永住権は取得できると思います。

This is how a residency and citizenship is earned. Japan's got it right and hope it doesn't waver despite the ageing population. Other countries in demand for immigrants should take heed and not renew residency permits without sincere and demonstrated respect and dedication to assimilate to the native culture apart from just the economy.

Sure, you could naturalise, but to most Japanese being Japanese means being ethnically Japanese rather than legally Japanese. I naturalised and am a Japanese citizen, but I still consider myself Canadian, because that's who I am.

I know it is not generally your content, but if you could supply resources or talk more in your videos about how you're applying for permanent residency, I am sure many of us would love to see it.
Once we start the application process, we'll see. There might not be much to talk about - you get your papers together, fill out the forms and apply - then wait (from what I hear).

It would be nice to have permanent residence for Japan. I do have dual permanent residence for the USA and Brazil. My wife does as well. Better than nothing!

Your kids have friends that look American too, it is nice that you have an American community in Japan where you can be part of. It is not easy to be a very small minority, as a Nikkei I know that, Asians in the western world usually are a very tiny % of the population but they know how to stick together, do the same, good luck! Become permanent residents/ apply for permanent residence---keep an eye on your spelling as a native English parent. (Been in Japan 40 years and have raised 2 bilingual kids here.) Good luck with the transition to all the bureaucratic changes.

日本での永住権取得は帰化より難しい😓、と聞いています。申請が上手くいくといいですね。

「日本は税率が高い」←日本人の多くもそう思ってます😓そんな税率が高い日本だけど、パパさんとママさんは高い税金を納めてでも日本を選ぶ最大の理由ってなんだったんですか？
どこに住んでいようと、税金は生活の一部である。 しかし、日本の税金は特に高いと思う！
We are a family of 6, 3 girls and our baby boy, oldest child is 7, youngest 20months. Im already sold to move to Japan. But my wife, needs alot of persuasion. We currently in Perth, Australia. With all the house crisis, youth crime crisis, building industry crisis, cost of living crisis, its very hard to live in Australia. Both of us are about to embark on first uni degree together at BYU (America Uni). So maybe in 7 to 10 years time, as we need time to save up, lookingto make the move. We are LDS members, hence uni at BYU. Uni HECS debt here is crazy, due to inflation, so uni here is not an option. I have lots of questions to ask. Can you home school in Japan? Can you tell us about natural disaster i.e. earth quake, land slide, typhoons, snow storms? Is it really safe with all these natural disasters? Just from a little research into it, it seems like the east coast is susceptible to natural disasters. What is the utilities bills like? Our current water bills is at 1Kilolitre at $1.9530. electricity is 25.817 c/kWh. Our rent is $600 per week whilst on the dole lol we dont get anything more for being students as we are at uni outside of Australia. If we studied in Australia uni, then we would get student payments. But thats ok. We will be debt free by the time we finish our uni at BYU, instead of 30k in debt, and that debt continues to go up dramatically each year, thanks to inflation. Is buying a used car like around 2010 year model a thing? As i have read that Japanese use cars for max 5 years before selling them to car dealers? Im enjoying your videos. Please continue to post up more videos.
