Another thing you could use for the eyes is a material called buckram, you can see out of it but it is hard for others to see though it. Buckram is mainly used for making the eyes of fursuits, yup fursuits.

I use this as a template for making it for my son I think it came out pretty well. I took some liberties to adjust how you did it and I think yours came out better but I couldn't get all the same materials and it's for a almost 7-year-old so perfection wasn't as important but it still looks awesome. Yup! It won't rip or crinkle as easily like a regular bag would! It can also keep its shape if it gets wet in rain :)
