- Kyrie Irving has been one of the NBAs best scorers for the past decade. But in his 13th NBA season there are clear parts of his game that have evolved.

Its been this way for years now i noticed how efficient he became back in Brooklyn. He never lets his ego get in the way of the team or feels a need to have the ball for long periods of time. Averaging just under 27 pts, 6 asts, 5 rebs shooting 48/39/90 with less than 2.5 turnovers for the past 5 years is other worldly
Meh. Still lacks the most important ability : availability. Otherworldly? Stop overrating him. His impact on winning since leaving Cleaveland has been a net negative.
@@VVVY777 there's not another pg with comparable stats at that efficiency outside of Curry. He's been a top 5 PG over the past 5 years at least. So yeah otherworldly
@@VVVY777yu casuals be exposing ya selves wit no shame
Niggas don’t watch and if they do they don’t understand what they watching this been him since bk days
Agreed. I will say he has had nothing but top 5 players by his side which helps with his efficiency. Bron, kd and luka are all historic offensive players in their own right. Outside of his time with the celtics... but even the celtics had a SQUAD.
I've been saying this for years...once he simplifies the game, he becomes a better player...more effective player.
Facts, I’ve always loved the physicality in which he plays. I’ve always said you can’t ever have somebody around his size guarding him not only because of his handle but his strength and the way he plays through contact. The people guarding him have to 6’5 and up in my opinion to even have a chance.
Kyrie has all the gravity in the world with his dribbling ability.
I miss his crazy ways to the rim but he can play with more energy now. It helps with age too
if u watched Cavs full games you'd notice he used to do many useless dribble moves and he used to overdo the jelly layups.
Yupp it started with James Harden in Brooklyn. 50/40/90
Kobe - mj advanced
LBJ - magic advanced
Kyrie - A.I advanced
First two are good but Kyrie doesn’t really play anything like AI at all. AI was all speed and straight line drives off a quick dribble move. Kyrie likes to dance way more.
The that MJ is better than Kobe, LeBron doesn't play anything like Magic Johnson and Kyrie definitely don't play like AI makes you look like a casual 😂😂😂
Kyrie’s mom just got a tattoo of Luka on her back. LeBron’s kids be asking him for pairs of Luka’s signed shoes.
@@african9686 If you think LeBron doesn't play anything like magic, you might be the one who looks like a casual.
@@alod247 huh. A.i quick finesse guard that can finish over anyone.
Kyrie quick finesse guard who can finish over anyone his bag just different hence y I said A.i advanced and he can shoot 3s better
as he gets older hes just getting better and better, smarter, less moovements, better shooter etc
And more and more fragile. His regular season highlights isn't worth the salary he gets. Hasn't been a player that contributes to winning since leaving Cleveland. Has been a huge nothing burger in the Playoffs since then.
The best thing he's learned is to keep his mouth shut about things he knows nothing about and concentrate on his job. The next best thing he's learned is to respect his bosses and not think he's a part owner and not a contracted employee.

He improved the simple play style playing with Durant in Brooklyn . This is EXACTLY how Durant plays. Simple quick and efficient plays to get to a spot. Durant improved as well playing with kyrie , some more polished handles to his already simple and efficient style of play. There are podcast videos of them talking about this.
I just said that to my brother. His 1-2 dribble skip pull up is some pure kd shi
And they've accomplished nothing since then. Well, Kyrie was able to aid in the Mavs' tanking and get Lively, so that's a positive.

For some reason, I thought he was like 34. Seems like he’s been around forever. Glad to hear he’s got a few more good years left.
Barring major injury, he has the skillset to play as long as he wants. & Also, crazy how as he's aged, the injury concerns have decreased.
It’s because he was so good so fast it
Came into the league at 19 or 20
dude gets buckets
People forget Kyrie was a top 10 scorer last year with Luka being #1. Pretty insane
As kyrie gets older he shows he didn’t need to dribble as much as he did when he was younger he’s simplifying his art
Naw he’s older he ain’t got time for all that all the time no more😭
its cause he ain’t got to carry a team no more.. there’s multiple people on his team that can consistently score the ball
@@Cutthroat__ Plus, if all else fails, you got Lively and Gafford there for an easy Lob.

It just sucks to see that the nba wants to move past kyrie. We all know sports have Agendas and one of them is to end Kyrie's prime, less calls, less media, less recognition, push younger players to be better when they aren't near his level. Mavs dont even sell his merchandise, Nike Hates him, the nba won't let Mavs win as long as kyrie is here.
These are great points tbh
Nike hates him had me rolling dead on the floor, bro.
@@chivalrous_chevy1163 Nike has a lot of pull in the nba…
So true
@@mezzb he whined out? They had a trade that had him going to Indiana and he threatened to have season ending surgery if he gets traded there. He literally did nothing wrong in Boston the young players wanted bigger roles and money his 2nd year so he left as a free agent Boston never offered him a contract. Bk what exactly did he do? He missed 4 games during blm riots while having a 90/50/40 season leading the team in games played and got hurt. Then he was against a vaccine mandate that the players never agreed to. The team suspended him never stuck up for his right to play they unethically offered him 250m if he got vaccinated. The next season he was going to lose his bird rights if he didn’t resign before end of the season. The Nets went 18-2 in December and the nets told him they will not resign him even if he wins a chip. So what exactly are you saying the locals don’t like him for? He posted a link to a movie about a theory on lost black history and it was labeled antisemitic because it had 2 sentences referencing a former president’s quote about Hitler in a 6 hour movie. The nba is literally partners with Amazon. There isn’t any conspiracy.. ja morant got into an altercation with a minor and the nba didn’t even cover it. He posted pics with a gun and was suspended less time then kyrie was for a link. Josh Giddey posted a vid of himself saying he hooked up with a minor nba didn’t suspend him because he didn’t commit a crime. What crime did kyrie commit? Nike ended their contract with kyrie then signed Ja morant for millions post fighting a minor. There is no conspiracy. These are bs narratives created about kyrie. Okay he didn’t get vaccinated? The nba literally had the bubble in the worst time of the pandemic because they believed they had the right to make money. But when the nbapa agreed for no vaccine mandate and the state said kyrie can’t play they never once stuck up for his right to make money. They allowed the Nets to suspend him. You are just going off of bs narratives created by the media and nba not by actual facts.
kyrie isn't one of these new ball handlers that tmac was talking about, he doesn't waste dribbles standing in one place. Love that about his game
As a mavs fan, I was almost hoping this would be about his insane defense this year
One of the most underrated players of all time. This mans skills with the ball, having absolutely no weaknesses on offense and being a highly efficient 3 lever scorer with the best handles the game has ever seen should get you more credit. Mans like 1 of the 13 people in the 50-40-90 club too.
I mean a lot of people say he’s the most skilled player ever idk where you’ve been my guy
dude was picked No.1 overall in the NBA draft, millions of people think his handle is the best ever, he’s not even close to being underrated
@@mezzbI definitely don’t think playing with Luka is the best situation for him. Luka is way too ball domiantn
@@aubhreypender3091 Kyrie won a chip with a ball dominant player.
@@RaKnows except if you watch basketball you’d know that Luka is way more ball dominant than LeBron. Kyrie had the ball just as much as LeBron on those Cavs teams and even took more shots
This video is pure quality! Well done @TheKidshere! On one side, as a fan of Kyrie ever since Kob'e decline, any video of him is really a joy to watch. On the other as an active Bball player, this video gave me some moves and tricks to try and work on during my next practice! 🔥👍✌
It's so disrespectful by the league, for the amount of missed fouls called against Uncle.
This is also true for Luka, after his rookie year.
If you really think about it, it's a common denominator in their relationship and is what helps both of them to become the best back court.
From raw talent to finesse like his mentor
He’s always been a finesse player and was never raw. I see what you mean though
@@aubhreypender3091 Compared to how refined his craft is now yes it looked like raw talent xD
As a fan watching countless Kyrie games this is exactly how I feel now. This is elite analysis and breakdown. Great job!
Cool, calm and collected. Adopted some of that from Luca's game and adding some of his own.
Awesome breakdown. I could watch Kyrie play all day. Such a smart ball player
This IS the same Kyrie. Uncanny handles, lethal scorer from anywhere. I seem to remember him being the catalyst for the cavs first championship over 7 years ago. Still one of the most underrated players ever, and probably always will be, because of the giant shadows of the celebrity players of the era
Kyrie is like the new AI, I'm glad he's getting credit now.

Kyrie refined his game better than Iverson did.

Idk if you ever played or played at a high level but your analysis and break down of everything was spot on. Seriously very impressive.
Kyrie's game is INSANE.

My favorite player! Wanted him in LA, my dream was for him to be on the clips. I still feel like Dallas isn’t his home. But I’ll always be happy for ky and watch his games regardless
Kyrie Irving is one of the most talented PGs to ever pick up a basketball. It’s a shame many aren’t appreciating his career as it unfolds
Best point guard ever....
Kyrie Irving #1 then the rest
Isaiah Thomas, kidd, Nash, Stockton, Iverson, pistol pete, magic Johnson, steph curry, G.P, Penny, tim hardaway, rod Strickland, Abdul from Denver, a couple im missing....
But kyrie is my Generation and Allen Iverson..
Pistons point guard is ISIAH Thomas. Isaiah Thomas used to play for the Celtics.
Another thing that is amazing about Kyrie is that he is one of the few players these days that actually does not carry (much). His handles are just so good!
Brilliant video
"notice how quickly he gets the defense to open up their hips"
😏
I said that too he aniciating contact
Good video
I think it's not just age and experience and maturity in his game, but also playing with doncic day in and out that helped kyrie evolve his game. Like this bully ball, using physicality to force defenders into a hopeless spot instead of flashy dribbling
great vid new sub here❤
a small reason why he's shooting middies closer to the basket is probably because of the spacing changing in the league. Most shots are either behind the line or very close to the basket
2:07 Pretty sure that's a travel as his right foot is the gather.
He takes the right step simultaneously as he gathers the ball and then takes 3 steps.
He does indeed cover alot of ground with just 1 dribble though
It's a 0 step as he's taking that step when he's not fully 'stopped dribling'
@@mezzbyou can take as many steps in between your dribble but also he has a gather step into his shot

MyCareer mavs kyrie:🤯🤯
One of the best guards in the NBA, definitely top 5. His efficiency has been insane for the past 4 years but he just needs to stay healthy.
he would've been a beast in the early 2000's
I'm from bklyn and hearing these comments that he changed his style in Brooklyn is crazy lol--He was shaking and crossing cats in bk more than he is now. Especially since he was the closer 4th qtr
I personally think he changed bc he grew up. He understands as great as Luka is, his style is limited-- Luka can't play off the ball, come off screens, spot up shoot, or slash/ move w o the ball. So he's FORCED to complement Luka for his tenure in Dallas to work. He takes pride in being a balanced player and he can do all those things I mentioned. Luka is already a slow paced half court player so Kyrie is forced to be attack straight to the point-- It's not a fast paced style where he can flow better. He has to do these things with LBJ n I think ppl didn't appreciate bc he had to complement LBJ (for the same reasons I mentioned cuz LBJ can't play off the ball well either. He gotta be have the ball n pick n roll)
2nd I think injuries and aging plays a part. Fractured knee cap, icing up, his stop and go style will shorten his shelf life.
I think he’s matured and can accept being a role player rather than the main distributor
He's one of my favorite players ever, but it's funny to me look how much space he covers with just one dribble when he's taking 4-5 steps with that single dribble
This is just beautiful to watch, its like art
I thought this was gonna be dribble to death again 😂 Nice job bro
Ngl I loved to watch Kyrie flashy plays, ridiculous reverse layup, ankle breaker dribble.
But all this stuff don't win games, and as NBA Basketball now becomes more strategic and more fundamentals than flashy plays, considering Euro players taking over the league.
Kyrie doesn't want to get behind and is adapting as a player to the current situation of the league.
He already showed us what he is capable of as Uncle Drew.
Now it's time to see his scoring capability, and so far he is not disappointing.
Much success to Uncle Drew, in case I miss his plays he collect bones, we all have his good old highlights.
Kyrie is really good
Awesome talent. He’s been staying late for Luka-Magic clinics.
The kid strikes again!
The foundation of his game is his handles and footwork! Don't get it twisted
I love watching Kyrie.
Though he is much better now, he lost his unguardable aura he display in 2014-2016
Where literally everyone dont want to guard him anymore because they will be humiliated with his flashy moves.
Yea became smarter he realized he don’t have to over dribble to score no more
This is art
Most skilled offensive player ever
Players also tend to keep their distance from kyrie. Not wanting to get embarrassed. Back in the day players were more aggressive and challenging causing him to dribble dribble dribble
HE LOW KEY PLAYS MORE LIKE KOBE NOW
Was thinking the same thing. Quiet as kept Kobe was the first player to shoot 3s from the triple threat.
ppl forget he won a 3 point contest his first year nd went head to head in multiple 3 point contest w top 3 point shooters we’ve seen in past years like curry nd thompson definitely a super slept on shooter his percentage is even higher contested even if idk exact numbers ik thats a fact bc of previous years number
Cause That's the Set up Stretching the Floor and Bring The Next Defender to Him Creates Half Court Fast break.
He’s elite
That used to be called a travel. It's kinda hard to create 10 ft of separation off a pick with one dribble. Hence the 3 steps and a travle. RLTW 3/75
He started playing like this after he met dev in the lab. Dev gave him some tips and Kyrie became a student of the game learning from people who just love basketball. real ones know
He knew dev long before you seen that video kid
he has glorious love handles.
Kyrie always been HIM
Kyrie beeeennnnnnnn playing like this go back and watch 2016 Finals
He may also have gotten better and more simple and i should say fundamentally, but i just also feel like everyone who guards him is very hesitant to i’ve never seen multiple defenders get so discombobulated off a couple jab steps
Minimizing unnecessary movements can be efficient, he noticed it. As we grow older our stamina isn't the same anymore. Less movement, smart moves are good for him.
Do one on Donovan Mitchell
The exact version of Kyrie Lebron needs right now.
hopefully he always fit, i really want to see him get another ring. he deserved
playing defense on offense. now he's using footwork more than his dribbling skills and he's more protective on the ball than before but he can still do his old play-style thats why defenders doesn't know where to guard him.
1 phrase to explain it all " a million dollar move and a billion dollar finish" 🔥😏
His game is wicked! NYC point God!
Favorite guard ever
The most efficent hes ever been with his movement and decision making was in 2021
Facts. This video seems like they just started analyzing Kyrie.
I love when kyrie starts cooking in the mid range.
He is doing alley up dunk now with his new shoes
Even if you don’t have a dad that played college basketball if you get good enough you develop basketball iq and simplify the game I did this this season and now I’m averaging 18 points a game on 2 quarters of play because my coach lets the bench players play the 2nd and 4th quarter
If Steve Nash had an elite jumper and cut that 'pass first' mentality is what i'm seeing
He came into the league with Nash's balance and control and he adds Luka's slow probe on top of the fact that the defence have to respect his stupid quick drives and programmed counters.
He finally looks like a number 1, and im all for it
(this is ofc when Luka's not on the court, bc 6'9 guard with body motion control is a cheat code)
He ain’t even gettin that much space. He make difficult shots look uncontested
his footwork jab steps and shot fakes looks so similar to the late Kobe Bryant

He played like this in Boston.. in only 32 minutes a game... Tatum and Brown were not ready yet
I agree 100%
imo hes gonna be good if he team up with embiid, and mavs need strong interior
He is not purely Scorer. His decision to play SG and let Harden play PG in Nets kinda backfired for him. He will need to share the ball with another ball handler, sth James and him do well in a way. I hope Doncic can adjust and Kyrie can improve
Yall dont think kyrie is learning Luka's game a little and Luka learns Kyrie's game a little?
Great overall analysis, but was wrong early. The foundation for Kyrie's game has NEVER been 3-point shooting. It's just another thing he does well. The foundation of his game is CLEARLY ballhandling, and his ability to use his left hand for that and finishing. In fact, he's just as likely to take a mid-range shot as he is to take a three, unlike most shoot-first small guards in the NBA. It can be said that the higher volume and accuracy of his threes IS the evolution.
