Why the Confederates had better guns

  • The American Civil War was this country's greatest tragedy: it killed some 600 thousand people, displaced millions and, probably the worst of all, it created a rift in the nation that never really went away.
    The war lasted for nearly five years and devastated much of the southern United States.
    But, if the Union had won the initial battles, the war might have ended in a matter of weeks, when compromises might’ve still been possible.
    That didn’t happen because of a single stubborn lad.

    the CSA would only keep the good stuff. Selma was the only place to actualy manufacture good 3" rifles.

    I have often wondered why the Confederate uniforms colored grey? Was there a reason for this?

      Cheap and most states already had grey as their state militia colors, At least that’s what I remember.

      Mainly cause it was cheap. But camouflage also played a role
