Georgia (Caucasus) Motorcycle Adventure EP2/5 Mestia - Ushguli - Lentekhi - Kutaisi

- In this episode we continue the trip from Mestia to Usghuli, a place frozen in time, part of the UNESCO World Heritage. The road is pretty tough, a lot of mud along the way. We arrive in Usghuli late at night to be greeted by an extraordinary family. We dance and sing into the night with our lovely hosts Giorgi, Marushka and Zauri.
We spend the next day sight-seeing and getting one of the bikes fixed. Chance makes it we meet up with another group of Romanians who are also touring Georgia :)
The morning of the second day finds us trying to load the BMW 1200 into a Mitsubishi Delica. That did not work very well, the Delica is not tall enough so we abandoned the idea. To the rescue comes Ari - he was doing a Jeep tour along the same route as us (towards Lentekhi and Kutaisi). He agreed to ride the BMW and trade places with the owner.
So we rode off on the most beautiful and difficult road so far - Usghuli - Lentekhi. 7 hours later, beaten and bruised but with a smile on everybody’s faces we arrive at what seemed like an improvised gas station in Lentekhi. We have done it!

did Berlin/Budapest/Odessa/Sotschi/Trabzon/Poti/Mestia/Ushguli solo in my bicylcle but in Aug/Sep of 2006. Glad I didn't have to fight the mud. Thanks for the footage!

Great trip! Try standing up when riding more demanding parts of unpaved roads, crossing rivers, climbing steep hills etc. It helps a lot with balancing your bike.

Great video(s). I think my next bike will be v strom 1000 xt. GS is a bit to large, too heavy:-) How did you repair bmw shiftgear?
The GS has a very low center of gravity though, nice bike ;)
They did some welding and improvising, can't remember the cost, it was extremely cheap anyways
Dude i just had one drop at my garage and my handlebar got busted ! what kind of handlebar are you using ? Could you tell us your full accessory list
Wow, guess that was just bad luck :( - I had a fifferent handlebar on my Strom, didn't know what brand it was, bought the bike with it on. Accessory wise I had these on: barkbusters handguards, an aluminium bash plate, Puig windshield and a MadStad bracket (verry happy with it). Other than this it was pretty much stock.

Multumim pentru raspuns. Am ajuns in Tbilisi dar si vremea s-a scimbat in ultimile zile. Ploua si ninge acolo si mai ales pentru ca suntem cu un singur motor nu putem sa riscam (455kg total)
