Sorry to say, but at that price point. NO ONE NEEDS IT. You can record memos with your phone. Having a mini turntable is a gimmick and can't imagine it retaining any cool factor for very long. You're gonna have to do a lot of lying to yourself to justify a $1500 purchase like this.
Technically you don't need anything other than food, water, clothes and a place to sleep.
Anything else is just luxury.

The 15 dollar version on Temu would be a waste of money. Aliexpress is actually more reliable when it comes to niche electronic devices like this. They’ve literally engineered an entire Dreamcast motherboard into a portable housing and reasonably price it at $400 dollars give or take with minor QC issues(usually) when there are people who charge at least 800 dollars to take on similar projects.
I bet the $15 version would be a toy version 😂

For $1500 you can get a great digital audio recorder (around $400), Pro Tools Studio edition ($600), and an Epiphone Les Paul guitar ($500)
For $1500 you could also get someone to act like they care about your useless comparison, lol.

Yeah, especially when the spinning part that's the most complex part is probably just a cheap pancake stepper motor and optical encoder and possibly a rubber belt.
Unless they've got some audiophile voodoo in there, it's definitely not worth $1500.
Even a Sanyo Denki S52502 that's pretty thin is $46.85. $42.01 if you buy 250 of them
If they want cheaper. For a bit more width, a no name Pancake Nema 11 is $27 for a single motor. Probably cheaper in bulk.

@@Birtheater4545they only need to sell a few a month and they'll be fine. The profit on something like this at $1,500 is well over $1,000 and I'm sure they sell a ton of other insanely overpriced e-junk. Probably costs them a grand total of $150-200 to make this, between parts and labor.

$75-$100 is too low in my opinion. I would value this at 200-300 due to the audio fidelity and the build quality. But 1500 is criminal and laughably overpriced. I despise Teenage Engineering for this very reason.

Some people are wealthy enough that $1500 is not meaningfully more expensive than $100. For those people, buying this product makes sense, because despite it being 10x the price of competing products, it is *slightly* better (mostly through it's fun design and very high build quality), and it's rational to buy a product for a meaningless increase in price (which is relative to one's income) if it is slightly better than competitors.

Yeah 1500 dollars for that is criminally overpriced. This is definitely not for the average consumer market. You can buy yourself a commercial license for a good music production workstation like Reaper($215), or a used Music Man ($1200-$1500), over engineered is an appropriate observation.

@@ericbuzzard2041 Well usually in analog recorders, there would be a device to magnetically change the polarity of the magnetic tape inside. Higher polarity means a higher frequency and lower polarity means a lower frequency
