I have a Vanagon and the only road trips Ive made have been to the mechanics shop. Bound for nowhere sounds about right. On the plus side I have met some really great tow truck drivers.
I just got a 1985. Over time I will drop 10 Gs at least but will get it all back if and when I sell it. And yes, not going to give it more than 4 hours of trip time when we take her out
Hi, I really like your conversion of the closet with the sliding doors and the re-use of the old closet door as a shelf. Could you share with me some close-up pictures so I can see how you have done it?
Hey Mac. I love your van Stanley. I am now building my 1966 splitty bus LISBETH (Salander) with a mk4 TDI, upside down Audi transmission, Porsche 951 narrowed rear axle and 19x11 Lobster Claw wheels that just barely fit. What has been most complex so far integrating into this machine is the complete electrical system with 4 airbags, ABS, cruise control and full VCDS diagnostics. I really like your "business side" of your van most especially the Aluminus box, your "garage". I am very strongly considering fabricating the same using a large 480v waterproof 3 phase panel box I have. I am through and through a Vanagon guy but I will make due with this split bus and mirror polished open safari windows until I can get the A/C system fabricated. What a marvelous machine you have! I hope to be on the road with my family later this year. Happy trails, see you out there!
Love your van we have bought a twin this summer just like this and planning to enjoy the road in the next few years with it. You have showcased a few great ideas. Have fun from a Canadian who loves to travel also! Who knows we might meet on the road!
That is so awesome we love finding twins! I am glad that we could help you with your van ideas. So many people did that for us, so we are stoked to return the favor. If we have learned anything at all in our travels, it is that this world is small and that we stand a very large chance of running into you somewhere down the road! So I guess we will see you soon!
It's killing us a (more then a little) that we will not be there this year. But we are trying to stay focused on getting ourselves squared away for next year! We can't wait to get the Sunrader walkthrough done to show everyone! Really hope that we see you soon!
I came over here from watching Live, Work, Wander didn’t know you all had your own channel those losers haven’t put out anything new so here I am. 😆 You have to little beer in your cooler and to much food.
When you have a guests, Don’t you get tired of answering their questions? Where is this?where is that? how I can? how to do? And finally things would be missed placed. Happened to us.I enjoy your videos, keep gone.
Emily! Thank you so much, that is so sweet of you to say! We are stoked too, we have so many ideas so it just felt like it was hight time we make it happen! We are happy to have you along for the drive!
Congrats on the youtube channel!!! Cannot wait to potentially collaborate in the future. Again you are the inspiration to this journey I am on. Can't believe meeting you in Boise has led to 40,000 miles across america. Love the van info.
Sadly, no. Because we had to make the mad dash out to be with family after the hurricane we are not going to make it this year. We are so bummed. Good thing though is that we will get to start on the Sunrader build really soon!
Excellent commentary. We're did you get the "spice cabinet door"? Makes a lot of sense... could you do a short video about the second table in the rear? Would appreciate that. And the sliding doors in the rear cabinet- geniuses! Well done. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
YAYYYY Videos! When I frist saw the "Video tour of" title on your blog, I was expecting the new rig. So, now, you have to make one for that. Nice work with the video! I give some slight consideration every now and then to start making videos myself, but I don't think I want to spend the time/work/creativity that it would take to do it well. Plus, so far, when someone points a camera at me sooting video, I turn into an awkward weirdo.
ps thank you for the compliment, and we totally understand the dilemma about where to spend your time and energy. In the end, only put your focus where you feel 100% that it needs to be and where you feel it will make you happiest!
Loved the video and your rig. Would you be able to provide info on the rear cabinet slider door install? I think that being able to access the cabinet that way would be a huge benefit. Where did you purchase that locking center console? Props to you for that sweet looking table....beautiful mod. Safe travels.
How do you guys lift your roof with the surfboards and the box fully loaded? I have a t4 with a manual pop top with the same rack, board and box setup and it's impossible. I'm also afraid the rear hinges are going to explode:)
Thanks for the video, it is very helpful.. I also have a 1985 Westy weekender in which I installed a fridge, solar panels, etc. but two questions.. Is the newer motor a 1.9L waterboxer? or a Subaru, Zetec? and what about the AC... Do you just use fans? If your plates are from FL then it is hot there.
We have managed to do pretty well on that front. We have a very new engine in our van, it was replaced this past July! We did a ton of work before we hit the road to ensure that things ran smoothly when we were out on the road!
Congrats on your CZcams channel! I follow you guys on Instagram and have turned a few friends onto it as well, your venture into video works perfect and im looking forward to following along! Quick question: what camera are you guys using to record with and what program for editing your video? Also! I hope your family touched by the hurricane are well and pushing past 🙏
Thank you so much for the incredibly kind words, they pretty much melted my heart! I am glad to that you are enjoying the journey enough to tell others about it! Cameras: This video was shot with the sony A7r we love it but its continuous focus setting is pretty slow to react. You can actually see that here in this video. We also shoot with our A6300...that thing is amazing at shooting video and shoots 4k! We use Premier for editing. Reason being that we LIVE in Adobe products day in and day out for our work so Premier is an easy transition for us. Bonus, we already owed it! Thank you so much for thinking of our families. Lives are returning to normal, but the foliage will take years to recover. Just glad everyone is safe and still smiling!
HI i am from Sri Lanka, so in my country, we don't have vw vanagan modal but we have VW transporter t3 modal. please advise me how i can by vanagan original interior parts (SCAND HAND PARTS) for my transporter t3 modal. please help me i can pay for it .
Hey guys! thanks for the video. well done ;) So I have a question for you.. I grew up with various conversions of VW "kombis" ,as we call them in South Africa, and can confidently say i know them quite well, and have recently gone for a 92 Syncro. I work in the yachting industry and the plan is to live in the van on my months off, call it 6months a year. I'd like to travel with it world wide though.. here's the question.. what, where, how is the best ways to do this? I imagine some kind of shipping is involved, but are there companies and avenues you could recommend, or someone that does van life worldwide that you could put me in contact with?
I have a Vanagon and the only road trips Ive made have been to the mechanics shop. Bound for nowhere sounds about right. On the plus side I have met some really great tow truck drivers.
Bob V I will be getting a 1985 Westfalia, I plan to go not far either. Unless you plan to spend north of $20K, you can’t go anywhere
I just got a 1985. Over time I will drop 10 Gs at least but will get it all back if and when I sell it. And yes, not going to give it more than 4 hours of trip time when we take her out
And i start watching here. 😁😁😁😁
That table top is beautiful. Makes such a difference to the whole interior.
Am-az-ing, am-az-ing. Thanks for sharing the beautiful architecture of your beautiful home with us.
VW T3 is my fav all 6 types are fantastic

You had me at 1985 westfalia. Skillet
I came over here from watching Live, Work, Wander didn’t know you all had your own channel those losers haven’t put out anything new so here I am. 😆
You have to little beer in your cooler and to much food.
100% agree on the beer to food ratio. We will work on that and be better from now on ;)
Bound For Nowhere I would hope so 😆
I’m looking at one same colour. Canadian eh. God rest!
Stanley! Great tour guys! I've been wanting to make one of these videos for a while! Love it! Subbed!
-SteelyVan
You totally should do one. I always love a good van tour!
Great video! Thanks guys!
Perfect
All Right!!!
Nice van
You forgot to mention the bathroom and shower? That is an important aspect of living in a van. The most important as a matter of fact.
When you have a guests, Don’t you get tired of answering their questions? Where is this?where is that? how I can? how to do? And finally things would be missed placed. Happened to us.I enjoy your videos, keep gone.
No, because it's apart of welcoming someone into your home. Gotta help them feel comfortable
I was hoping you guys would start up a CZcams channel!! So excited to start going on adventures with you guys! Happy trails!!😉🤙
Emily! Thank you so much, that is so sweet of you to say! We are stoked too, we have so many ideas so it just felt like it was hight time we make it happen! We are happy to have you along for the drive!

It's crazy! Hopefully we can cross paths sometime! Would love to do a collaboration with you. I think we could learn so much from you!
By the way, super stoked about you being on the road! Really looking forward to seeing all your stuff!
I think you both are going to be great at youtube content and definitely look forward to your content as well. Are you all going to be @descend???
Sadly, no. Because we had to make the mad dash out to be with family after the hurricane we are not going to make it this year. We are so bummed. Good thing though is that we will get to start on the Sunrader build really soon!
That's super great!
Your vanagon is the most custom I've seen! Amazing job. Will definitely steal some of those ideas.
curious.
What is your gas mileage like?
Excellent commentary. We're did you get the "spice cabinet door"? Makes a lot of sense... could you do a short video about the second table in the rear? Would appreciate that. And the sliding doors in the rear cabinet- geniuses! Well done. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
nice tour
On the beer note, do you ever worry about drinking while parked overnight?

What?
starting at 4 years ago let's see

Definitely going to do one of the new rig so everyone can see what it's like before the build out!

Wood is attractive, but more dense than many synthetic materials, making them lighter than wood. PS: Is it a SYNCRO?
Классный автобус :)
My God those freckles...those eyes. What was this video about? ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
She's beautiful

Thank you so much. The mod was done by a man in Sacramento called Rhino Designs! He is awesome and ver very fast!

Nice Vanagon Just Subbed ..I have a 85 also
Nice! The Subaru engine really brought us a lot of power! We really have enjoyed it!

We had the Jack Bombay heavy duty struts. They made it quite easy
Awesome van!!!! New sub
Thank you so much!
She has an impressive mustache!
She's beautiful. If she had makeup on she would look like a movie star.
@@ron9269 If you say so. All I could think when I was watching her video was "either get the shaver, or some mustache wax!"
New subscriber 😎 Any tips to a fellow Florida Vanagon owner on staying cool in hot n sunny South Florida?! Safe travels ✌🏼
haha I hate to say it but it is either get in the water or leave Florida. Sadly, they were the only two solutions we came up with
Bound For Nowhere 😂😅🤣 very true!

What wheels did you put the general grabbers on? Can you share a make/model of wheels or a link to the site you found them?
Batteries connected to starter? Did u mean alternator, because I’m unaware of the starters capabilities to charge. Wouldn’t you just burn it out?
Awsome vid,
But if you have a go anywhere vehicle like that maybe next time shoot it somewhere away from noisy roads.
Good luck
What’s the difference between a Vangon camper conversion van and I Westy
Do you still have your Vanagon?
bir gün bende sahip olacağım. sadece bekliyorum
Have you guys had any mechanical problems with your Westfalia by the way its beautiful!
