We have MEL BROOKS to thank for MasterChef

In the late 1980s Mel Brooks had a meeting where he was mocking British food. British director Franc Roddam was in the room and came up with the idea to host a cooking competition to find the best British amateur chef. He took this idea to the BBC and MasterChef was born.
