  • Social media is flooded with CIA propaganda disseminated by former spies. Their lies are dangerous and need to be dealt with.

    CIA now has a large social media presence with multi-million-follower accounts on Twitter, Instagram and Twitter. The agency is using social media as a recruitment tool but another mission of their social media arm is to make the public view the CIA in a positive light. Anytime you are suggested content with a “CIA spy reacts” or an “interview with a former/current CIA operative” you are being enrolled into re-education class.
    This is dangerous. But how do I prove it to you? How do you know when a spy is telling you a lie passed down from the highest ranks in the government? Manipulation only works if you don’t know the whole truth. So allow me to show you the other side of the story.

      That is true, but I also think that's only a small part of the overall problem with governmental surveillance. In this video it showed that after this huge effort to track information on citizens it only resulted in a very small fraction of actual charges being filed, and probably a smaller number being convicted. So I don't think the problem necessarily is being us being deprived of a space in which to make mistakes, it's now that all this data is collected, and policy written, and agencies formed who have access to that data, there's no way our leadership and the ruling class will just not use it out of their respect for the constitution or whatever. The government has quite the vested interest in keeping the way this place is ran exactly the same as it does now, the people at the top who have all the stuff, and the people in the middle and bottom that have a lot less of the stuff. And as history has shown us time and time again, when there is any perceived threat to that order, there is also a threat to the groups who have access to that data and therefore cannot be allowed to propagate. The data they may have access to has the potential to be the information that the current power structure needs in order to survive, that's why privacy is important.

    • @KarlMarcus8468
      @KarlMarcus8468 Před rokem

      I hear you, I do, but I also think boiling down some very complex and nuanced ideas and events into "they just want to keep you in fear so they can keep you in line" doesn't really give much room for us to understand the world in a comprehensive or useful way. Not to mention it mostly ignores the important political landscape now, and during the formation of these governmental bodies like the CIA. I would argue it's more about security, the need for control is created *from* the need to secure the hierarchy. The distinction seems small but I think it's important.
      I do think that basically every time this countries leadership has decided something could be a threat to the status quo it has used propaganda to stoke fear in us to get us on board with some policy change that usually goes against our best interests. If it's in our best interests, meaning the interests of the working class then it's probably clashes with the interests of the rich, owning class. That I think is the lens we should be looking at this through. Without that context it's easy for people to adapt whatever narrative they want which usually just ironically reinforces that status quo all over again. Right wingers have no problem with governmental control, their problem with is *who* the government should be controlling. They are motivated when they believe they are being forced to submit to the government who uses fear to make them get rid of their gas stoves, while at the same time demanding that the government write laws to put people in jail for deciding what they can and cant do with their own bodies. Conservatives conveniently are both the source of, and solution to the fear that they've manufactured and will continue to exploit that in order to keep the current social structure exactly how it is.

They were trying to spin the story by denying the programs, but each time they did, Snowden dropped another piece of intel proving they were lying, cowering them into silence with PR Aikido. Plenty of crime happens for reasons that police is fundamentally incapable of addressing (deteriorating socio-economic conditions, mental health, addiction) and plenty of criminilized activities should not be illegal in the first place (e.g. drug abuse). Thank you for pointing out the fact that mass surveillance is often used against anti-capitalist figures like Martin Luther King. The government criticizes private corporations for asking their users for permission to collect more personal information than what they actually need for their apps to work properly, when one of the main reasons this is a problem is because the government forces the developers to hand over all the information they have upon the agencies' request or place a backdoor on their app so the agencies can collect it themselves whenever they'd like. This is literally the main way the governments collect most of their information because it's the most practical. If it wasn't for that, mass surveillance probably wouldn't be possible, so I find it's really hypocritical of the government to suddenly turn around and criticize this type of data collection. They'll do and say anything to drive attention away from the root of the problem. This may be a bit of a controversial take, but if we want to actually have a chance to solve any of the systemic problems we're currently facing we need privacy advocates and Marxists to join forces.

    I would be ok with the gov violating my privacy if they had better cyber security and did something about about the telecommunications, advertising, and tech companies violating my privacy. What people don't understand is that if you have a spy cam in my home there is no such thing as YOU are the only one who has access to that spy cam because anything is hackable. So I don't want a got damn spy cam in my home because I'm tired of every aspect of my life being mirrored back to me, trolling, through any means necessary(TV, music, stalkers, apps, etc ). Do your job gov.

It just completely blew my mind. May be even it is untrue or true but this incident made me realise where world is heading and how govt sensors activism against it

    It funny how Americans claim they hate fascism, nazism, communism and other similar baddies but when you look at their suburbs, they seem to can't even paint their houses whatever colour they want or they faces charges if they don't have a regulation lawn. Just a funny little detail I'm obsessed with.

    Thank you for this video. I would ask as well if the US intelligence gathering is affecting it's allies and other nations, what might be the repercussions of such hostile actions? Ha the CIA still not answered for its crimes amongst its own citizens? What punishment would be even proper in controlling an arguably vital part of the US gov.
    If the U.S. military is the right arm of the gov, likely the CIA is the left arm. Not an easy part to subdue if it ignores your will.

    A scary note about "Just leave America if you dont like it" - As long as you're a citizen you still pay tax. Yep, this law has destroyed businesses overseas as the American owners had no idea. There is a reason Americans are ripping up their passports\citizenships. If you want to leave you literally need to be un-Americanized.

      CZcams has policies against "sensitive events", "controversial issues" and many other categories that will get your content flagged for demonetization or age restriction. It's making it virtually impossible for independent channels to talk about serious topics and get traction.

      @@TheHatedOne I think his point was that you should be posting non sensitive content on one channel and grow it while posting the sensitive comment on another channel and recommending the sensitive channel through the first one which gets traction so you could get at least some of that traction. idk if this would be any better since I'm guessing you do get traction on some non sensitive videos on this channel and it's less steps if the sensitive content is on the same channel.
