    Pitboss, maybe for our doubtful eskrima enthusiasts out there, if you could show or perform a complete abanico offensive strikes using a blade of your choice on a target, like a watermelon or coconut. Abanico strikes is not only using a stick but a bladed weapon as well, I hope you know how.

    Whip it, whip it good! Btw, this is a great technique to exercise your forearms, & strong forearms are a must for stick, or sword fighting. Anyhow, I'll happily add it to my practice routine.

    Watch the wrist. Abaniko's flow is using the hips and the elbow to generate torque with minimal wrist movement.

    My question is, isn't practicing kali a huge burden on the wrist and on the arm in general. Is there any connection to joint deterioration, arthritis etc. Please let me know if you have an article on the topic. Thanks.

    abanikos lack man stopping power. i am always amused to see how the original movement has been taken out of context. the way you perform it is solely an exercise to strengthen your wrist. the true application is yours to find out. master secret 101.

    BZ U.S.A., I respect your personal preference but you and whoever your Master is probably haven't come across a high level abanico eskrimador yet. Do not conclude that Eskrimadors who are effective in Abanico do not have your common slashing strikes or whatever strikes you reckon is far more better. If abanico users perform it with power and speed similar to your slashing or other strikes you've got, think of how might be our slashing strikes and others. The guy above is simply showing basic training of abanico striking and how to develop it. Maybe visit a Master of Abanico and we are willing to show you and prove your wrong. Forget about pillow fighting in tourneys and padded sticks, and crook referees and judges, and come experience how Eskrima is done in real combat. written by: Maestro Kyle Abella

  • @spartanwarrior1
    @spartanwarrior1 Před 5 lety

    Sorry but i discarded the abaniko a long time ago since it got no manstopping power. And in all fairness, it takes more than abaniko strikes to take me out.
