    Be sure to clean the passage in the upper intake that he took off. My experience is that this is where the worst of the blockage is located.

      Exactly what I was thinking the big Port usually don't fill up, it's the small port in the head that's usually the culprit. I've had to clean mine out twice in the last 5 years. It fills up with carbon.

      @@hhosin 100% correct. my lower (exact part hes cleaning here) allowed carb spray to go all the way through on the 1st spray! my UPPER port on the intake manifold itself was the only part that was clogged! a bit of a misleading or only half of the process video.

    Thanks Brian. Great video. Had a P0401 for about 2 years. Started happening daily, so I finally got around to fixing it. Pulled the intake manifold and found the port was totally blocked, as well as the one inside the manifold. Reamed it out with some aircraft cable on a drill. Worked like a charm. Replaced the EGR valve as well, as it looked pretty bad. Great video, thanks for your help. Wasn't that tough after all.

    Video is great; Tips from my experience: the throttle body was stuck to the plenum. Now you'd think, just pry it away with a screw driver, but there are two gaskets there, with a sandwiched layer about 1/2 inch thick. That mid-layer is screwed to the throttle body inside the assembly (and not the plenum of course), and so you may think you need to leave that one in place when you try to pry the throttle body away - wrong!. Both the mid-layer and throttle body have to be pried away, together. Something I did not see on a couple of videos.

      I cleaned that part twice and it worked for tens of thousands of miles but eventually, I had to do eqvt of roto-rooter on mine to get get the code go away. I did not have the correct cable handy. I fabricated EGR blocking plate and fed 3M induction cleaner through the hole in the plate while the engine was running. I was able to remove the clog and fix the P0401 code.

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  Před 6 lety +1

      fredy Calderon you most likely have a bad idle air control motor. Sometimes you can clean it out with carburetor cleaner. Spry the cleaning in the throttle body.there is a small hole that you need to focus to clean On. You can also like the throttlebody down with a rag and cleaner. You may have a little trouble starting it after performing this just hold the throttle wide open and crank the engine at the same time. Once engine starts release throttle and let idle.

    • @thexflexclan
      @thexflexclan Před 6 lety +1

      How to Automotive thanks but its weird i’ve replace the air control valve clean the tb but the hole you said i haven’t clean it also my idle its so bad like it’s between 700 rpm something like that if i rev thw engine and let off the gas it stall sometimes also is running rich fuel trim way negative when i coming to stop before the rpm drops but now the rpm stays and i hear tue engine like grinding and gotta keep the foot on the gas n brake for preventing to stall

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  Před 6 lety +1

      fredy Calderon it is possible the EGR valve is sticking open. That will cause a rich running condition and make Engine stall. You can also pull the EGR valve off and clean the The Pintel on the valve itself.

      @thexflexclan Před 6 lety +2

      How to Automotive t be honest i cleaned as well but i kinda notice something like the pin was inside and the other day i clean it as well and the pin was a little bit out and it looks like its stuck also driving on highway hi speed the rpm are on 3,500 if i let go the gas pedal they fall to 1,500 or 1,000 i think the egr valve its going bad
