  • My crohn's diagnosis story of how I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease.
Today I am diving in what went on before during and after my diagnosis. What went down? How did I feel? All of that good stuff for Crohn's and Colitis Awareness Week Day 2!
Living life as a chronically ill writer and person in general is hard. Trying to be an author with a chronic illness is even harder. While this content might not be directly related to writing, it is significant. I want to create a space for others to see that we are not perfect authors over here. This is not just an authortube channel! :)
I've been diagnosed for the last 11 years and it is a big part of my life. It is a big part of my writing as well. Though I am mostly a writing channel, I love to talk about things that are important to me and my life.
On December 6, Barrett Laurie and I are hosting a live Q&A and fundraiser for Camp Oasis! We hope you will join us in learning and understanding this disease. As well as donate to helping children with IBD have an even more amazing time in their summers at Camp Oasis.

Morgan thank you for sharing!!! Because it is considered an "invisible" disease!!! I need to "figure out" what I need to do to be healthy!!! I knew God loved me!!! I knew He would work my health situation for his good!!! Taking time off from "everything" : Ministry & Volunteering in (7) Non-Profit Organizations & Counseling & Business Owner!!! My first priority had to be my health!!! I had to implement these four areas to be healthy!!! (1) Go bathroom every 4 or 5 hours a day (2) Drink 90oz of water a day (3) Eat two meals a day (4) Sleep 8 hours straight a night I had to accept my body can only "digest" two meals a day!!! Having heavy breakfast or lunch with 4 or 5 items and a "light" dinner with 3 items before 8PM!!! Setup a monthly "yes or no" food listing: yes-oatmeal, chicken, seafood, yogurt-non diary, pasta, broccoli & brown rice and no- diary, wheat bread, tomatoes, bananas, oranges, fried foods & spicy food.

You’re welcome! Yes, God loves you 100%! I’m glad that you prioritize your health. Sounds like you have a lot figured out on how to keep your body healthy.

I went from wanting to give you a hug to wanting to hug your cousin for giving you that wake-up call. Someone who sees this video will have a much easier journey because of your courage and willingness to be vulnerable and share all this.

You're such an inspiration, Morgan! My father had Crohn's so it's a subject very near and dear to me. It sounds like a long journey, but I'm proud of how far you've come. :)

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that just to get a diagnosis.

Thank you for listening! Get a diagnosis and proper care shouldn’t be as hard as it is. 😓

You have such an inspirational story and I'm sorry you experienced so many unprofessional medical professionals. Sadly, my female friends' experiences with campus doctors is that they were told they were either pregnant or it was nothing. The campus doctors had no idea how to handle legitimate health issues.

Thank you! It’s really awful how doctors treat people, especially women.

Just finished the skit. I’m infuriated. I’m so sorry you were gaslighted by these “medical professionals”.

It’s crazy I can see the similarity of why the first assumption is a eating disorder but your symptoms shouldn’t have been dismissed like that

I’m so sorry I missed this my beautiful friend. I have been in an infusion coma. Definitely pushed too much!
I absolutely loved the skit!! That was brilliant. And also so frustrating because I wanted to scream.

The drug seeking thing hit me in the feels. I was diagnosed in my mid thirties and was a white dude and nobody ever questioned writing me scripts for pain. The discrepancy makes me angry.
Thank you so much for sharing your story. It takes a lot of bravery to share this side of ourselves. But this is how we end the stigma against “talking about it.”
I want to kill the doctor that said you were imagining it and that you brought it on yourself?! What?

    • @BarrettLaurie
      @BarrettLaurie Před 2 lety +1

Preach about the doctors ignoring what’s happening in front of them. 😔
My heart is breaking for when you stopped thinking you were worth it! 💔
I hate that you were taken advantage of. I’ve been there. Probably not exactly the same, but I made a lot of bad choices too. 💜
The insurance fight makes me crazy and mad too!
I’m so glad you had your faith. I’m so grateful for you and your friendship. That come to Jesus moment is the reason you started taking care of yourself and the reason you’re still here to be my new partner in writerly crimes! 💜🤟🏼
The fissures are the beginning of a lot of fistulas. Eeek. I’m so glad you avoided my magic. But Fissures are awful. And oh do I remember the hurting to sit! 😫😢🥺

I hope you got some good rest after the infusion. I'm glad you loved the skit! And thanks again for watching! It felt good talking about all the hard stuff, I can appreciate where I'm at now. I still got a long way to go though mentally (and physically), but I think this video is a good first step!
