He technically could've lived if he killed the warleader but winning after that would be hard unless he found 2 malganis or 2 soul jugglers to drastically increase his damage output.
I have an idea for a new hero. One who's hero power is when you play a triple/golden minion you get 2 discover spells instead of just 1.
