  • In today's video, I pick up this hidden gem of a 1986 Porsche 944. It was last registered in 2006, and very seldom ran during those years. This is part one of a multiple part video series going over repairing, diagnosing, and cleaning up Porsche specific parts.
In the end, this was a super fun car to drive, and was well worth the effort.

Here's a car from an entirely different lane on the channel. In the end, this was a super fun car a WAY more reliable than either of my third gens after getting it running. To be honest, I'd take this car on a trip hands down over a third gen.

that's an honest opinion. (You do not hear those everyday, everywhere...)

I love that you are not just about the american cars. Living in the Netherlands, this porsche was fabricated closer to my home then the average distance in America to a neighbouring state. Awesome work.

I was never able to find that camaro I was searching for, but 2 days ago I was able to take home a 90 Trans am for an absolute steal of a price

I always loved these cars. The Turbo 944, which looked identical to this was a very quick car.

Thanks Dan, appreciate it. The more people that do this the better. Motorheads need MORE places to play.

Nice, I love that used the Tom cruise quote we were talking about. I died laughing when I saw that clip.
Love the work on the track also. Wish it was closer to Bloomington In, I’d help clear and clean that place. Greenlight Motorsports Park!!

It looks like a great car. I would love to pick it up from you when you are ready to let it go to a good home.

The red headed step child of the Porsche family. That car is in pretty nice shape especially considering what you paid for it and they seem like fun little cars, I always wanted to drive one.

OMG the first nice car I was able to purchase myself just before I got out of high school in 1989 after working my butt off during my summers off was an 83 Guards red 944. The car was lots of fun, peppy and handled great! Good luck with getting it back on the road!

I'm all about the 3rd gen content, but I'll be watching the 944 content too. Nice find!

Sweet. There will be one more video on it. Would have been a 30+ min vide if I crammed it all into this one.

There is a guy local to me who LS swapped his 944.. Tedious but doable and even looked proper and not just another LS stuffed in a car.

Check the fuel injectors. They are notorious for sticking after sitting for a bit.

@@Greenlightfilming well. I had one way back when. And my son and I are looking for one for his senior project. We watch a lot of videos, and look for them on line. No luck yet. Hope yours turns out the way you want.

I had a red '87 944 with the 5 speed. That car was far from fast. Mine needed a crank sensor and fuel pump during my ownership. In reality, the 944 is about as much as of a Porsche as a Volkswagon Beetle is, but they do have a small following. I sold mine for 5 grand a few years ago.

Firsty... Nice little find there. FYI the Porsche in Ferris Bueller's Day Off was a 928.

    Plenty of Porche parts around.
