COMMENT: Do you prefer your balls drilled pin up or pin down?
Pin up. I am a power tweener and need all the backend i can get lol.
Really would like to know if you would have moved right and squared up to see how each ball reacted. I don’t feel that circling the lane was a good showing. Sorry if any feel differently I have my thoughts lol great video
“Let’s go Captivate, this is where we activate” 💯
I like the pin up I love the snap
Drilled my DV8 Captiv8 pin up, really like the controllable reaction for me. Speed Dominant aka REV Challenged player. It plays well in the track in addition to having the versatility to move left. Very similar to the Katana Assualt for me...both outstanding so far in 2023!

DV8 Captiv8 didn't have much backend but I wished you moved right and play a straighter line. I think that's where the pin down might outshine the pin up in this situation. all my balls are pin up. I'm rev dominant over speed and always seems to over hook I might give pin down a try. overall great review.
I’ve all but stopped going pin down on symmetrics since weight holes were banned
I like how everyone is doing reviews of the Captiv8 but no one did an Activ8 review
I might do one on my CZcams channel. Activ8 vs Captiv8
2LS doesn't have a pin down per say. However, the low diff/low flare layout is pretty nice when needing to play closer to the friction.
Pin up and pin down are up for interpretation. Using the dual angle layouts, one pin location could be a different pin location for someone else. Why? Because everyone throws it different. For example, 60 x 4 x 50 is going to be a different location of the pin/cg/PSA for me than it will be for anyone else, but it is the same layout just fit to their PAP.
That's why you lay a ball out to a bowlers PAP. The interpretation doesn't make any difference. A 60 degree drill angle for a 5" PAP is still 60 degrees if it's laid out for a 4" PAP. The location of the pin/cg and PSA really is irrelevant. The layout dictates the intention.
@@timanders3151 that 60* angle is the intention. The psa/cg/pin location is changed based on pap.
@@timanders3151 we can talk all day, but you saying 5” pap tells me enough lol. Pap is 2 numbers, for example someone I drill balls for has a pap of 4 1/4 inches over, by 5/16 inches up
that leg placement on that figure on your shirt.. Didn't look like a leg at first glance 😂 😂
Pin up. I have one pin down ball and it is my Cosmos that a pro shop wrecked by drilling it pin down without asking me. I am not high rev.
On low diff syms always pin up. It's designed to be smooth.
The best review done by Gootz IMO
Really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work. Never get rid of the song during repeat ball shot.
I prefer pin up for more general use, and typically use pin down for situations where I have a lot of dry. There are a few houses in my area that are stingy with the oil, so managing how and where your ball uses its energy is more key than it otherwise would be.
Next time you go to get a ball drilled, may I suggest a longer pin layout, and just mention to them you want it to get down the lane really well. Pin down balls typically flare more as this means a shorter pin to pap, which means earlier hook.
@@logantincher7151 Almost all of my pin to PAP distances range between 4.5-6", with the exception of a couple short pin balls. 5" is my norm. I'm a low track bowler, so I need that for the help getting through the heads.
@@hackprefect right, which is why pin down stuff would be earlier for you
Seen a couple comments about not moving right with the pin down ball and I have to agree here. Most people will not be using this ball pin down from that far left on the fresh. Would have been nice to see you move right and get behind it a little bit.
I’m building a 3 ball bag and I am low rev low speed bowler and wondering if I have a hy road now should I get a reactive and urethane and plastic or reactive and urethane to pair with it
I have question what the difference between symmetrical pin down bowling ball and asymmetrical pin down bowling balls? Thanks
Pin down is my favorite drilling I also use some pin up when needed
Great explanation between the two. Pin up here.
Ball was advertised as light to medium pattern but I don't know that this review really shows what it could do in those situations being pin down and a long pattern? I'm rev dominant too but bowl no thumb so my layouts are always way different. Got mine today and will try it out sunday but reviews for this ball have been hard to find. I'd like to see the other big b staffers throw it some too on some different patterns.
I go Pin Up on almost everything, but Pin down on most symmetrical solids or really early reacting solids
Pin up mostly. Have a few pin down balls for situations. Prefer up, and surface change.
Move R w pin under and pick up speed. Need to close angle with it.
i am 20/480 i tend to drill pin downs on anything with a diff over 40.
Gootz lowered his backswing.. really smooth shot
When do we get a JLS video?
Question/s: I'm a few months into learning to bowl past recreational/fun. I've been watching lots of videos over the past few months. I have yet to watch a video where the weight of the ball, the person is using, is stated. That's hundreds of videos and not one has stated ir even given the weight in the video info. Why is this? Especially when reviewing a ball. We all know it is a factor so why not disclose the weight to help the viewer in their decision? ??????????
why not drill the same ball and show the difference.. why throw different balls... that doesn't help us at all
They mention in the beginning of the video they have another video on this using the same ball compared pin up versus pin down.

Pin down is NOT an earlier read. It is longer and smoother.
Depends on the bowler. Usually means a shorter pin, which means more flare. Earlier, smoother or sharper depending on the core/cover/pattern
@Logan Tincher Wrong. Pin down is always less flare because you are drilling into the top of the block. Less flare = longer.
@@cardinalcopium5088 top of the block is the pin, so if your drilling into the top you’d have to drill the pin out. Shorter pin- pin to pap distance, means not nesecarily more hook, but more flare-> earlier. Also depends on surface of the ball
@@cardinalcopium5088 if I sent you a pic of my pin down short pin phaze 2, and the flare of my iq tour that is pin up, at same surface on same lane, the difference is obvious
@@logantincher7151 the IQ tour has a low flare core in comparison to a phaze 2 which is high flaring. Also the differential in a phaze 2 is over twice as much as an IQ tour.
the dreaded ball review mistake, drilling the ball how most people won't. I hate this, its the first hk22 lower teir ball made, I was so excited, and now this review is useless. This could have been the first hk22 low end great ball review.😐
Most people here don't even do a layout and just drill 3 fingers here. I get a lot of "what's a layout" or "idk it just told the proshop guy to drill it"
You can still learn a ton but a Karen will Karen so go on and complain.
