I saw them perform this live and Sara was saying how sad Tegan had been when she wrote this song... :'( But then Tegan said how happy she was to have gotten to that sad place to write this song for us.
Takes me back to being on the train leaving Kingston Ontario in the fall. I was nineteen, had my heart broken by my first love. This song, wow. Hearing it again takes me right back. Beautiful. That experience taught me to appreciate heartbreak. There’s some beauty in it, and this song conveys that very well.
im American, and i love Canadians! and i say who cares what the past was, let us not forget it, but let us LET IT GO. i know, we have made some major mistakes, but i feel attacked when i hear people critisise the place that i live. im sure you would feel the same.
I also fell for someone over the internet. More like, video game lol. I've known him for almost 6 years now, and we still have never met. This song brings back many fond ones, but it was something that never worked out. So I suppose it applies. For the rest of you, never give up, keep hope strong, and keep your love stronger
Damn, my face totally leaked hearing this song, I met a love of mine at 19 and after five years I am leaving that significant person that was once so lovable.
I loved them before I knew they were lesbian. I am straight. I still love them. And like everyone said, you do not have to be gay or lesbian to like their music. And if you do dislike them because of that, then that is too bad for you because you are missing out on great music.
You fell for someone over the net? I did too, I went to America a couple of weeks ago to meet her... now we're getting married. She's coming to England soon. If you want to be with someone enough nothing can stop you.
The British are an honorable people who should be proud of their glory days, when they presided over a world-spanning empire and subjugated natives from India to Iraq. In its heyday, the UK possessed an impressive collection of dominions, colonies, protectorates, mandates and realms. In modern times, the British have been faithful and tireless servants to America, serving as our lapdogs and fighting in wars when we tell them to. Real Americans appreciate the British.
@Mysteryismyname well tegan originally wrote the lyrics as, "when your nineteen" rather than "i was nineteen" so i think because its about feeling nineteen and getting your heart broken all over again, she's sort of saying "when you feel like this, call me" maybe its remembering who she loved when she was nineteen, how she wanted them to call so bad, but they weren't interested.. dude i honestly don't know. nobody does except tegan. but its art, its a beautiful song thats my outlook :]
This is from the spinner interface session. If you find that one you can find the link to download it and some other amazing performances from spinner (i think).
i'm straight and proud! does it make any difference at all? no. stop stating your sexuality and saying how proud you are of it, it doesn't make you seem proud it just makes you seem like you have to shove it in everybodies face. i love tegan and sara because of who they are, their sexuality doesn't affect that.

It's amazing how many emotions a song can bring back.
Shit.
I just love the lines:
"I was nineteen (- call me)"
thier amazing
It's OK.
My friend told me to hear that song, she said it's hilarious.
Yeah, as I already said: It's OK.

does it make any difference at all? no.
stop stating your sexuality and saying how proud you are of it, it doesn't make you seem proud it just makes you seem like you have to shove it in everybodies face.
i love tegan and sara because of who they are, their sexuality doesn't affect that.
I just turned 19 today :D
better then their cd version!
