Today I decided to do the unranked to gm challenge on REAPER as I've wanted to do an Overwatch 2 Guide on Reaper for a long time. However, I have picked the WORST season to do this challenge on as Reaper rn is REALLY bad due to the maps being double sniper and also since people are mainly playing pharah or echo.
However, we did manage to get to gm in the end after about 14 hours. I think I had a winrate of about 66% which was better than what I was expecting tbh. I tried to explain what I was doing during the games and how I play on each map the best I could whilst focusing on trying to get the W. I did get tilted quite a lot especially near the end when I was on a loosing streak. I'd recommend taking a break from the game or playing quick play when you lose 4 in a row.
Overwatch 2 Top 500 wasn't that hard to hit but I have been playing since Overwatch 1. I did start on xbox and switched to PC but altogether I have around 1500 hours and 700 of them have been on Reaper.
Reaper is the reason why I got out of gold/plat hell as you can kinda 1vs5 with him due to his lifesteal. It does get harder obviously the higher you go up but if I can get top 500 anybody can because I'm not the greatest player ever. I legit play like a plat but what I do differently is I try to play with my tank most of the time or I do the funny and get a 5 man or die instantly.

Btw I realise after looking at some comments people wanted me to be clearer on tp spots, positioning and how to use ult etc. So soon i'll have another guide out explaining how to play each map in the current season and how I play them. I'll show where I tp and try explain how i'd use my ult in certain scenarios and much more. So sorry for not explaining these things in this unranked to gm.
If I may ask, can you also make a small list or video on the best/worst maps for reaper? On the video I can infer a little bit based on your reaction to seeing the maps in the beginning, but I think it would be super helpful to see which ones are good, bad, or just okay for reaper :D

@@moyopengu7021 best bet is to find a group to play with. If you can’t do that then you better sweat to the max and solo carry your way out of there. Will be very tough but definitely do able with Reaper

I main genji, but reaper's my secondary whenever the enemy monke is giving me cancer. Love your unranked to GM, and this def helped me. I was never able to find nice Reaper guides or players, so I'm very thankful
You're really entertaining, rapidly becoming one of my fav OW creators. Just some constructive criticism, I wouldn't call this 'Educational'. If you could explain your decisions a bit more, like when to play more defensive v aggressive or how you deal with bad match ups and still get value, what Reaper's bad match ups are, when to save his ult vs risk it. There were a few tips and tricks, but that'd be my personal preference. Maybe I'm wrong, but good content regardless man!

@@ChoiceOW I really enjoyed just watching it as more like a series of going unranked to gm, I don't feel that it always has to be labeled an educational vid, rather I believe it can work great as just a challenge vid series. For example, unranked to gm but a random hero generator picks my dps character for every match. Then you play the whole match as whatever dps that the generator gives you.
The editing out of every single bit of downtime prolly took forever! Thx for the amazing vid!

My favorite character is the reaper guy. he is very powerfull. special move, honestly is one of the best in the game and so he comes equipped with these two revolvers and only takes about 3 or 4 shots to actually execute a kill so it comes really in handy specially when you come from the side.

Love the videos! Just an idea but maybe you could use like a randomiser to pick 2-3 dps characters and allow yourself to switch between them. It would allow you some more flexibility but keep the challenge of not being any dps.
I would highly recommend to disable the upscaling in any fps game as it will introduce input latency so put it to default also the upscaling just sometimes makes the game blurry or the lines kinda weird so I would definitely avoid that

In the beginning where you go through your settings try changing render Scale of automatic and set it on 99 or 101% as this for some reasons enable some features to help the overall flow of the game

I think fsr image sharpening doesn’t do anything unless u have resolution scaling set up (even at 99%). I personally have lit seen a difference but when I turn on render scale it looks really sharp
yeah, render scale does have a big impact but I was just saying what I had on at the time. I agree though

2:50 It's better to put it a couple of frames under your monitors max refresh. Less tearing. I also THINK it might stress the GPU less, since it wont render images your monitor isnt fast enough to display anyways. Unsure of that one
i genuinely did not know some of the spots on some of the maps existed, i’m a support one trick (kiriko main) and i only recently got out of silver about a week and a half ago. just peaked at gold 2 but next season i’m gonna get back to the grind with a fresh state of mind. but learning reaper genuinely seems kinda fun considering i already play an aggressive kiriko with 2 major standout things being my ult does damage and i have to play a lot closer to people than i’d like
I’m a Kiriko support player too because I like playing with aggressive characters like Reaper. So I’d definitely give Reaper a try
If anyone is looking for his play style I believe it’s in the beginning of a team fight you flank and try to waste their cool downs and try to kill their suppers then reset and go back to your team and front line for the rest of the fight.

Kinda, I focus the tank which should hopefully force support cooldowns then I flank the supports

idk if you read this but what do I do into ashe soldier etc. I keep my corners tight but I can't help push with the tank etc and if I flank I get coached etc. got a few secs to responded pls?
Pushing an Ashe is tricky, I try to sneak up on her or dive with my tank if I have a Winston or dva. If you do tp to her then use wraith the second you come out of tp to dodge her coach gun and get closer to her. With soldier it’s the same thing really. Try not to let him see you tp onto him and once you come out of tp, try to kill him. If he’s low and you’re not and he starts running away, use your wraith to chase him as long as its safe to do so. Hopefully that helps a little. I’ve got a reaper guide coming out soon for every hero :)

I spam the space button to jump whilst ulting so they don't headshot me as much
bro we use the same eDPI (I use 2% with 2400) thats a funny coincidence
I do 2 strafe moves in 1 shot instead of you do 1 strafe move in 1 shot, i don't know if it makes sense bdw😂
