    English belongs to India also
We have taken it from the oppressors and adapted it to our cause. It is not foreign to us. No doubt we should be proud of native languages as well, but also of those that came to our subcontinent and we made our own. We took the good and did away with the bad.

For people who can’t learn atleast the 23 official languages, the parliament may understand English here.

Out of 28 states only 9 have hindi as their official language. Why do we need to adopt hindi? Our constitution has not enforced that to us. Our constitution is written in English. And during independence, the decision was taken that all the official works will be done in hindi. If I start talking in Odia, because that's my mother tongue, are you going to understand. Simply no. I know hindi a bit but I'm not fluent with it. Because I didn't have hindi as a subject in my school. But South Indians and North East Indians don't even understand simple hindi. Now you'll tell that we have to learn hindi so before doing that you yourself learn all the other 21 official languages of India then ask us to do that.
