  • Casa particulars are like home stays in Cuba. We travelled Cuba for 3 weeks and stayed with local families the entire way! They are definitely a highlight of travelling here and we found them to be incredibly clean, comfortable and hospitable. Check out this quick video of one of our favourite casas in Havana, Cuba!

Might be going in January. What would be an appropriate tip? Should we tip daily or at the conclusion of my stay?

Do you need a Visa if you have a US Passport? Can you travel to Cuba? I'm hearing is not possible.

Awesome video! Can anyone tell me how is the internet usually in casas particulares? Is a wifi router common in the casas nowadays? I will need to work remotely for 2 weeks from Cuba and I will need at least moderate speed internet

+Avav Bubu It's generally around $20 for the room, not per person. The taxi from the airport to Havana is around 15 CUC. Check out our guide for tons more info: www.goatsontheroad.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-independent-travel-in-cuba/

Do you need to book the Casa Particulares in advanced or can i get to havana and go find one the same day?
Can i do that if i travel to different places? (Specifically Veradero)

You can book them when you arrive sometimes, but as wifi isn't as easy to come by as it is in western countries, we found it easier to book in advance.

Cuba does have great food, but remember you have dollars and Cuba pays their people in another currency that prices the good food out of their budget, but tourists staying in private homes are actually helping cubans bypass the government and live a little better, Enjoy
