Since hearing Fall On Your Knees, something has changed... I am drawn closer, i want to know Jesus and the feeling and need has consumed me completely, I can feel it in every part of me... nothing matters as much as finding Christ to me now. I grew up in Calvary Chapel churches in Southern California and others of its kind,. I have never heard from Jesus... i have always talked without an answer. I lack the words to explain the calm i feel mixed with the hope i feel and strength i feel. i just cant explain it. the best i can describe it is a feeling like i have been set on fire, while being calm and safe. I am drawn to the Eastern Orthodox Church.... I think i am finally finding my way, and i have hope.

Here's some broader context that might be helpful for viewers who don't understand the skull symbolism as Christian:
I was born in a Marxist country that only let one Orthodox Christian church remain open. Many Christians and dissidents were sent to prison camps encircled in barbed wire to die. Bodies were cremated to save space and to destroy evidence. The effect was gargantuan dehumanization.
However, in Orthodox Christianity, cremation is prohibited in almost all situations, because Christ will raise us up from the grave. For example, when monasteries run out of space for new graves, instead of cremating monks, they dig up completely decomposed skeletons and stack their skulls and bones in ossuaries to await the second coming. Sometimes, monasteries display skulls publicly, like as bookends in Mount Athos' libraries.
So, the visual composition of a skull in a crown of barbed wire may directly reflect the visual composition of Christ in a crown of thorns, but it also points directly to the 20th century martyrdom of millions of Christian believers in prison camps encircled in barbed wire AS WELL AS monks who've departed this life and are now waiting for the second coming.
If HolyName used ashes in its graphic design, it would be anti-human. However, HolyName's intact skulls are like all skull imagery in ancient Christian iconography. They remind us of our own mortality, the ones who've gone before us, and of the need to prepare for the second coming of Christ.
I've never had a problem with the skull symbolism personally, but I LOVE that you shared this explanation! I had no idea, and it makes listening to and loving HolyName so much more meaningful for me! Thank you @cleverfreckles!
@@amandavail8790 Oh, you're so welcome. 🙂 I just discovered HolyName and shared it with everyone. I noticed some people commenting below about skulls being pagan or evil. That's understandable if people are only familiar with Halloween decorations, theatrical props, and worse. When my born again dad first walked into an Orthodox Christian church, he saw the skulls at the base of a cross, thought of Halloween, and then thought, "This is really old." +1 for history leading to the embrace of skulls as theological tools.
