Technically speaking he's not brit. Yes his voice actor is british and all, but he's german because he's the reincarnation of Klaus (which is an incredibly german name).
@@lolzilla9317 Shulk is not the reincarnation of klaus/zanza. Shulk was a regular British kid who died after the Monado awakened then klaus/zanza revived him and hid within him.
@@jamiestreet7834 Keep in mind though that shulk looks/sounds exactly like klaus in the flashbacks to before the Xenoblade 1 world was even created so given they are identical it would make sense that shulk was always going to be inhabited by zanza and is in fact a reincarnation of him.
A British speaking Homs. Although since he lived in Colony 9, I suppose he might be considered a Niner or some other weird homage.

I didn't even know that topple durations stack. I thought they just reset the timer on the topple. This is LIFE-CHANGING
Yeah same with daze. I was always timing my shaker edge to work once Reyn’s daze move runs out so this makes me feel really stupid
This can change the future!
Now there's a reason to use topple again
I dont like that the game dont tell these kind of things...
I set up my 3 characters with Topple VI but the status doesn't last that long. I would say the duration is half of what I see in this video. Why is that?

Great vid btw
haha i did that on purpose
@@EnelXC surprised nobody else has seemed to notice lmao
2 even cheesier things:
-Using Demon Slayer on a low-level bunit near Arsene will always topple Arsene, even outside chain attacks.
-If you time it right, you can use Monado Armor so that Daedalus' Laser vision happens while Shulk is casting it but before the buff kicks in - this lets you both cast armor, break the future, and get a talent gauge refill through glorius future (casting Armor's buff before the vision kicks in results in no vision actually happening since chances are the laser won't hit the vision-causing damage threshold).
Lol i thought when he meant cheese i thought he was just gonna use melia, hide behind terrain so daedalus cant act, then spam elementals for forty minutes til it dies
Thanks emile

Aww yes topple locking Also known as curb stomping or "kick them while there down!". This is quite an effective strategy IRL and a Surefire way to continuous score Critical Hits on your opponent.
Enel out here making guides that I wish I had 10 years ago when I first played the Wii version.
You've got me addicted I need daily videos. Character guides please, stop teasing me.
they are coming just as soon as i can max out all the arts on everyone and get specific gems LOL
Enel: "I can turn this into a learning opportunity"
... are you *a parent?* XD
Keep up the Xenoblade guides!!!
I don’t even have Xenoblade definitive edition, but your content is so quality that I watch the videos anyways.
let it be known that i was writing this comment for a while before when i accidentally went back to the previous page. i mean it doesn't really matter i just need someone to share the pain for just a little bit. also it means this comment is a bit shorter than it originally was but whatever
anyways
while you're right that you can kinda just pick and choose from any combination of seven shulk reyn dunban, the usual "best" party for topple locks is seven (controlled), dunban, and reyn. seven's mostly better than shulk because without the m3, they have better party gauge building in general plus you break with air fang, topple them twice, and if you get a continuation, either reapply speed shift or use final cross, and then whale on it with physical arts, rinse and repeat. with the m3 shulk has much better party gauge filling from his crits being guaranteed, so you can use either one you want.
something that's kinda cool is that the 3 out of 4 of the superbosses (daedala, arsene, abassy) have this unique counter to topple where it reduces topple by half, so it lasts for 1.5 seconds instead of the usual 3. for daedala, however, since he's a mechon, he gets toppled for an extra 1.5 seconds, so it evens out. belgazas doesn't have anything fancy like that, just a 2.5k topple spike. so watch out for that.
it's worth noting that every superboss is susceptible to force topple, like starlight kick, final cross, even roly-poly if you're using it for some reason, since they're not immune to it, but they're also all immune to daze.
the reason why final cross fails is that it only topples if its last hit connects. against superbosses though with their level advantage, your ether hit rate is kinda sucky, especially since you can't link melia's enlightenment because no star slots. if the final hit connects then it'll always topple the enemy, regardless of if they're broken or not (unless they're immune to topple).
i don't know if you specifically mentioned it but topple plus gems can be hugely useful for any locking strategy since at max, they'll basically double your effective topple duration for each art. it makes topple locking, especially on arsene and abassy a heckuva lot easier and gives you plenty of room to breathe otherwise. topple up, like you said, is great and i very much recommend it if you're planning to topple lock them, since it'll pretty much double your base damage. use both of them, they're both very good.
great video dude, i can't really add much else since you ran through pretty much all of the important stuff. one last piece of advice i have is to focus on toppling and auras first in chain attacks and then damage, since they're going to obviously be a lot more important to keep them locked down. good luck!

Do you even persona? 🤔
I recommend having a Lazarus-like browser extension that automatically saves partial text.
uh i have no idea what happened but i guess someonw got spoiled? enel's vid literally has seven in it and he talks about them, but sorry guys, that's my bad. i hope i didn't seriously affect anyone's playthrough. edited the comment to be spoiler-free now so it should be good
This is awesome, dude! I remember doing this to them in the original game.
Also, I always loved your Character/Blade guides for XC2, so looking forward to your character guides for this game too!!
No intro. Right to the point. Love it, keep up the great work!
Take a shot every time he says topple
Excellent content, as usual, looking forward to future videos. I'm glad people like you exist that manage to get people into Xenoblade!
Topple locking is op but so fucking fun it’s unfair
Funny how in this game it takes like 3-5 mins to take out a lvl 120 superboss where as in xc2 it takes ~10 seconds
you can get it much lower in this game but you need everything very optimized.
That's because Xenoblade 2's damage numbers can be absolutely INSANE with an optimized party. Enel has a video where he modded the game to remove damage caps and Poppi QT Pi was able to do over 200 MILLION with a single hit of a single special.
You can defeat XC2 superbosses under 1 minute? Well, it took me 15 minutes to defeat Pernicius Benf, and I am... proud?
@@RadiantBeachShulk sure, Popi Gamma (or QTpi) can be a different level of Blade, I had mine equiped with (that item that increases damage if your HP is at 90% or more), and she dealt more than 100k damage in Chains, with 1 hit
The chain link in XC 2 give more chain damage and to trigger it its not random chance like in XC1
My pleads from the first guide were heard
Can’t wait for the character guides, really liking the constant stream of content
Thank Enel. All

Nice guide! Also congrats on 20k subs!
Another great guide man. It would be cool to see a guide on the party members arts and which ones are the best to level up first. Your da man bro
As always thanks for the awesome content!
Haste from Glory Gauntlets are also pretty handy for auto-attacks which can help with party meter acquisition. Even better if you have Double Attack on the weapon.
Dude I’ve just arrived in Alcamoth. Chill with the super bosses.
Nah seriously awesome content man.
Lol im still at fallen arm. Cant wait to get to end again and again
@@mountchoco8174 I just got there an hour ago!
I got to alcamoth yesterday, trying to get all the quests, so im still there. MAN these high entia have a lot of problems, not to mention the father that can lose his children five seconds after you speak to both of them.
@@Shwn-bi1je I just got to Valak Mountain before deciding to turn back to do sidequests (namely Alcamoth quests abs Colony 6). Awesome, wish I had this video the first time round, I'll definitely becoming back to it again later on. Also the comments section is also informative & highly amusing 😄
Really helpful. Keep up the good work!!!
I can’t thank you enough for making this.
I remember back when I was trying to play xenoblade on the 3ds there was almost nothing out there. It just seemed like everybody already knew and they weren’t going to talk about it.
But there was chuggaaconroy...
Man, I remember feeling so badass the first time I beat Avalanche Abaassy, and then people just do him like this...
You can actually kite despotic arsene very well, as his range is not very big. Melia is able to Solo the fight if you time your running away and doing damage in between. I believe the spot I used was the big Rock, where I walked in circles and he couldn't keep up
Avalanche Abaasy: I've fallen! And I can't get up!
These video's helped me understand this game so much more i dont feel like im missing something like with xenoblade 2 where i just didnt understand everything. The only thing i dont quite get is how to optemise chain attack but im also nowere near finished with the game so that isnt a problem yet
Nice topple-lock video. With XC could also easily cheese Superbosses with Melia and ether. What always impressed me as a challenge was the less than lvl 99 character team kills of the XC Superbosses.
If you are up for using a different strategy Melia,Seven and Dunban was my preferred topple locking party. With spear break and starlight kick,Melia can allow you to start topple locking outside of a chain attack. Glorious future linked to melia ensures elemental burst is active for a good chunk of battle.
I beat the level 120 super boss by just playing it slow and safe with sharla (controlled) shulk, and riki. ...it definitely wasn’t as efficient as “cheesing” the boss, but I just made sure to keep everyone’s tension and aura’s up with sharla’s bullets...warned shulk to use monado armour (or sharla’s shield bullet) when there was a vision. ...and just saved the party gauge for revives if anything went wrong. I avoided chain attacks entirely, and a lot of the damage was through Riki’s dots
SO good! ty sir
As an absolute noob at even basic combat strategies, I appreciate your guides, haha. Keep up the great work Enel
Great video! I don’t use this strategy often because I like fighting the harder super bosses legitimately but this is a great guide that can help out with grinding.
This would qualify as legitimate as it's not game breaking, it's using in game mechanix it's not like it's a glitch or anything
This is a legitimate way of fighting and there's no need to grind when you play the game. There are also more effective ways to grind than killing superbosses.
Nice guide, maybe unlike back in the wii days ill finaly defeat all 5! Your helping us all become good!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who misses those damn slower qt circles. Lol love your vids
Thanks for this vid, I wanna try 100%ing this game but the superbosses were kind of intimidating. And even though I've played this game since it came out 8 years ago or so I'm...not the best at the battle system, so I have no confidence in being able to do superbosses without following a guide veeeeery closely. So this vid hit the spot. Again, thank you.
To 100% the game, superbosses are not the difficult part, it's actually not missing quests and some Unique monsters which is harder.
Back then I never use this method because because it too OP. I always challenge myself without using Chain Attack or Topple lock against superbosses. It take a lot of time but it really fun.
It wasn't until watching this video that I realized what the pink spikes around some enemies names means. It means they have a counter spike of some kind doesn't it. That's a really useful visual
Yet it’s in the tutorial of the game, thrown in your face when you arrive in Makna forest. I swear things have not changed since 2011: some people play RPG but don’t read or can’t understand what’s written.
I legitimately don't remember the name spikes in the original, unless that's a graphic that was removed for some reason in the 3DS version
@@BionicLightandShadow The graphics were added in Definitive Edition, yes. Just like how the health bar being in the top center of the screen was added in Definitive Edition. But the mechanic and its explanation were already there in the original games. And the tutorials in Definitive Edition were updated to explain that that's what the spikes around the names mean. And Luxin already deduced that that's what they were for from just looking at the trailers.
I remember beating avalanche abassy without knowing how to topplelock roughly 5 years ago.
Great guide.
I just got to Chapter 12 and I'm loving the game so far.
tks for confirming to me that topple locking is still in the game
Soo. I'm using agility up gems but am still having trouble hitting Blizzard Belgazas.
make sure you have agility on everyone from skill links too. if all else fails get some night vision
@@EnelXC Ok. Will do.
Because of despotic arsene's high agility it took me an hour to beat it for the first time, this was also before I discovered some better strategies than I already had
I've been topple-locking through the whole game it's great. I just slap some night vision and agility on my party and farm monsters 10-20 levels higher than me.
Awesome guide!
Great work Enel! But I have a question for you: would you recommend using a set of gems like "Topple Plus + Double Attack" on characters like Shulk, Seven or Reyn instead of something like "Attack Stability + Attack Plus"? I've always cheesed the game due to the topple lock, but maybe it's more fun to overpower superbosses, rather than toppling them endlessly. Considering that the autoattack bug no longer exists, what would you recommend?
Can't play this yet but hopefully over the summer my friend will get bored of the game after 100%ing it so I'll get my chance. Still, really happy to see the spike in subs, you really do deserve them
Beware! I 100% the game back in 2011, and it's still my GoAT today.
I miss smash and lunch ;P
It looks hilarious in XEN2.
Enel: "Make sure to subscribe to the channel because it really does help out so much"
Reyn: "I know, I know" 0:36
Also thanks for this guide, I have always been interested to see what topple locking was like.
Just wondering, are you gonna do the more memey builds like Dejeweled Shirtless Dunban as well?
I played Xenoblade 2 long before this game, so Fiora being the final party member was the most obvious twist ever, honestly I was more surprised that Reyn wasn't the one who got 'killed' at the beginning of the game, poor guy seemed like a background extra for the entire play-through
On my first playthrough I was surprised it was Fiora killed and not Dunban tbh, but once you get further into Act 1 it becomes painfully obvious through visions and other comments that Fiora's still alive and that Metal face is who he is
@@fathm4623 I actually got the Metalface spoiler from Smash ultimate...
To be fair, I think Reyn's character arc is learning to accept his changing role as Shulk's protector - as Shulk becomes more independent and stronger, Reyn's initial role begins to erode and he needs to learn that it's okay for him to just be a shoulder for Shulk to steady himself on as a supportive friend.
Sure, it's not the most philosophical arc ever, but I think it works.
Great and useful guide like always but I have a question, do you ever plan to speedrun XcX?
it's in a long backlog of things i'd like to eventually do lol
@Vesmir nge if you are talking about X you can do a support mission I believe it's called noctilum nights where you defeat a leviathan it gives you 48 BP so you can carry on farming that
Man, wish I could play X
I mean, I can, but I can't ask for a console right now
For other less essential skill links, would Riki’s “Pretty Stars” and “Amazing Stars” be useful, since they increase strength and reduce cool down by 15% respectively during nighttime, and can work alongside Night Vision Gems?
Are you planning to make another video that shows off high damage with this strat? I think this video does a great job of going over the basics of Topple Locking for each superboss, but it would be cool to showcase the damage potential using Topple Up in conjunction with this, in place of AP Up gems.
i'll eventually try to go for max damage setups once i can get all the necessary preparations done lol
I've seen Reyn hit almost 100k with Magnum Charge/Sword Drive, and I'm only at Valak Mountain
I really love this game I'm at level 33 so far and my team are sharla, shulk, and reyn
Despotic arsene has high agility but it does not matter as much because you can use Dunbans demon slayer to force topple on him by using the weak enemies in the area
Ah yes the classic gg ez no re strat, Good guide as usual. Are you planning on making any vids on future connected at some point?
Thank you for your fine work. It is most helpful. I have a problem with Daedala. I can beat him once in a while but I have trouble keeping him down after I topple him. Then I have to get the party meter up to topple him again. I can usually do that but most times toward the end Shulk can't get his meter up fast enough. Can you tell me what I am mssing?
Just a random question i had, auto attack damage is relevant in all types of damage calculation right? Mainly asking about ether arts
This guide is amazing, however I am still struggling to take down Ancient Daedala. I'm playing the classic Wii version, and in it the boss has an ether field around it that quickly damages you even while it's toppled. Also, do you explain the tension mechanic anywhere? Because I'm still struggling to understand it. Thank you for the help!
thanks to this i now feel very powerful but also very dirty
maybe i’m just bad but i feel like (without topple locking) the super bosses in this game are much harder than 2
i’m just talking about the base game btw, not challenge mode or dlc or anything like that.
now with topple locking is a different story
They are without topple locking yeah
Does having the master art books from time attack make a huge difference or would it be better to just get the advanced ones?
What skill trees and links do you recommend for the shulk dunban reyn combo
Enel can you post a guide for the best setup with fiora shulk and dunban?
Man I've played this game wrong for so long. No wonder I died so much. I'm amazed I ever beat the game!
I remember accidently topple locking mumkhar during the entire fight
I find Riki useful in topple locking because he has happy happy which very quickly refills party gauge so you can reset the topple counter. Plus he can force topple with roly poly.
And then with all the chain attacks I just spam final cross with fiora. Reyn’s useful for dazing, re-toppling, and damage
Oh and can’t forget using lots of initial tension gems on fiora so she can almost instantly use final cross
can you upload some screenshots of the locations of like where the superbosses are and where to go after you finish main game and stuff. thats stuff i know i need but cant find (on discord)
I 100%'d this game on both the Wii and the Dolphin Emulator (forced 1080p this game looks gorgeous on PC). I always used Melia for topple lock. She made it very very easy as she doesn't require a break art. IDK. Never had a problem using her. Maybe it's different for the Switch version.
I struggle to topple lock still on them damned aura bosses.
I know it's my own timing and fault but the 2nd most way I die is doing big ass damage on aura to have it reflect back and one shot me xD the most common way I die is ofc falling...for some reason fall damage is my true personal final boss.
One funny strategy that showcases how absurd topple locking is involves Demon Slayer, Dunban's final art. It forces topple on any enemy in a fight if it finished off an enemy. So what you can do is have Dunban in the lead, max out your party gauge, lure a weaker enemy, weaken it so it is almost dead, attack the big scary enemy you actually want to fight, switch over to the weaker enemy, then start a chain attack. Now you can kill the weaker enemy with Demon slayer, and the stronger enemy is now toppled. This works on any enemy (EDIT: that you can topple), so you can theoretically punch way above your weight with this tactic.
This is how I got the Rudra early. You have to kill these lvl 83 Feris in Satorl Marsh and I was around lvl 69. I couldn't hit the Feris even with Night Vision 4 gems on my party, so I cheesed it with this Demon Slayer strategy.
Good strategy, this game allows you lots of variety in combat already, there is no true one way to fight, just use the funniest one for you.
All you need to do is to max out your level to 99, max out all your arts, max out all your gems. Equip just the right arts and then your set.
But it sort of surprised me he hasn't sort his arts. Personally I usually sort Dunbans break -> topple chain next to each other etc.
About the AP gems, what's the best way to grind AP after you get them? Is it the same spot you used in your SP farming video (the birds in fallen arm)?
nah use sp0iders in tephra cave, got over 3 million on characters this way trying to get the 5K enemies killed achievement lol....probably didn't even need the ap up gems
just got seven, but kinda lost what arts she should use, any tips?
6:28 Yes I learned the game by fighting Marcus so many times and now I kill the other superbosses buy doing nothing after 1 chain attack
Love your guides
Could you make a video for a viable "inner peace" team where nobody has armour but can dodgetank for days?
dodge tanking is easier with armor and agility than being naked, plus gems are just really great in general
That skill crossed with melias unadorned beauty is really useful for getting through the game when on dunban due to aggro up and it giving him more agility than gems can provide, but in the post game he will get absolutely slapped by enemy ether arts and melt or get debuffed/spiked to death so its best to go back to wearing armour in the late game for slots
@@DivineRainor Back in 2012, I never understood what people were talking about with Dunban more efficient naked. As my first playthrough was a 100 % one, I never was in a situation were Dunban naked was more useful than him wearing armors, he was always far worse.
@@0okaze its literally just due to the aggro/agility. When crossed with melias unadorned beauty you get +50% agility and plus 20% to all stats and +25% aggro and can be gotten from eryth sea. This is overal way more stats and aggro up than gems and armour can provide at that point in the game and dunban ends up with so much agility that hes practically untouchable for that point. It does however drop off later in the game when gems get stronger and ether damage becomes more lethal
is xenoblade chronicles an RPG? their not really my type of games but this game looks so fun and i love all your vids on it, should i get the definitive edition for switch?
it's an RPG yeah. I personally love this series to death so i'd always recommend buying this game AND Xc2.
Enel thanks. definitely gonna be the next game i get on switch 😁
You shouldn't decide if you like a game or not based on the gameplay type, you can just happen to like it even if you are not used to RPGs, for example
I've been farming Blizzard Belgazus for AP up gems, but for my past 3 attempts I just haven't gotten any visions. He'll kill Fiora with his opening attack, but I never get a vision for it so I can't raise tension for the chain attacks. Any idea why this is happening?
I HAD to click on the video when I saw the thumbnail. Topple locking is B U S T E D lol
Hey Enel. My built on the superbosses are making them quit the battles are their own & causing me to restart it! Yes the superbosses are quitting the fight because my attacks are locking them up so bad that its bugging them.
I think having agility glitch past 50% is causing it. I know it maxes out on 50% but I have Melia have 3 wind elements regardless of having max agility. Then have auto gems on Melia Bind VI, Weapon P VI, Slow.
Riki Debuff VI, Weapon P VI, Phy DD Vi
Flora Weapon P VI, Debuff VI, Para VI.
But yeah I don't know if anyone has ran into this with superbosses quiting the fights on them. Anyway I'll post the fight on Twitter to see if anyone knows or if this has been done already.
What if topples stacked in Xenoblade 2 though, chain attacks and fusion combos would be insane
Please make a riki guide...i know he sounds really basic but I really want to know how to effectively use him. Thanks
King
I could have used this last year, thanks king.
Edit: and what superboss should I tackle first? (After Final Marcus)
whichever one you want really, abaasy is the hardest out of all of these pretty easily, the other 4 are pretty simple
Daedala for the Night Vision cylinders
Is topple locking possible in the original or 3DS versions?
I have a question. Why I have lower statistics than yours for all characters, if I have exactly the same equipment and the same gems?
How do auras work in regards to chain attacks. Are their timers still ticking or are you still reaping the rewards of the aura but the timer is stopped/ slow during a chain attack?
Also can Melia force topple super bosses with her kick?
auras are paused in chains so they'll stay up. Melia can do that but it isn't as reliable as other methods.
