"The cars handle like they're on ice" actually refers to a ~2013-2014 review of the game, because at the time the tire model was extremely basic and the cars did handle like they were on ice. Been an age-old meme since then =)

The tire model is still very weak. It needs revamping and it will probably make beamng the ultimate track sim.
I must say that even if Italy is one of the vanilla maps, it’s still my favourite
And I think that not only for me, but to everyone who lives near or in southern Europe will result them extremely familiar and also a nice place to see and stay because we are already familiar with the landscape
And even if I live in Spain, I must say there is not a huge difference between Tuscany and Catalonia or Valencia, that makes me to enjoy the looks of the map even more because they remember me to one of my favourite places
Definitely my favorite map. I hope Italy gets a remaster

This map is very fun to play since it has a bit of everything done right, yes it feels like the map is old in a sense. There is a guy on the subreddit of beamng doing his vision of a remake of italy, changing stuff here and there, wont be dev quality but good enough

I am Italian and playing this map is something wonderful, it is very faithful to the Italian territory, there are a lot of details that are not at all obvious such as billboards, road signs which are very faithful to the Italian territory, which is not to be taken for granted, and in addition certain areas recall my land, Liguria. I LOVE THIS GAME

I've been playing this map since it was released and 97% of the game hours are just on this map, I love this map and being Italian it's even nicer to drive on it because it makes you feel at home somehow, anyway some changes no one talked about (from what I saw on youtube no one mentioned these changes) almost every update something changed on the map like trees and vegetation. I hope that in 0.30 there will be a remake of the map and knowing the devs it will be even more beautiful (sorry if my English is not perfect but I'm using a translator so don't set me on fire for that)
Tbh, I'd like to see a racetrack in the map of Italy since the country has a long racing tradition. I believe a cross between the Autodromo Nazionale Monza (with its legendary banked oval) and the fictional Lago Maggiore from GT7 (it's my favourite track amongst all of them in that game) would be ace! Now we gotta see how they're gonna do it.

Me and a couple other People are gonna be hosting a rally Championship, and i made and mapped the stages and theres so much gravel roads in Italy that i got 7 stages on gravel and 3 stages on tarmac, that rally will be awesome

I love this map, I do have to say that I don't think the map needs a remake this soon, it's looking great as it is and with the updates the devs have given it. It would be great but I would understand if they were focusing on something else for now.

hold on!!! how come there's no giant Germany map with a big nurburgring size track!? BeamNG is German too, so hopefully they make that someday

The fact that bmg put the civetta easter egg as the map got put out means that they expanded on the bolide on to the Italy map. Cool👍
the castle still renovating is acutally a reference to italy, as everywhere in the map there are road work and things to finish, and as an italian, it's proven that whe are to lazy to finish our jobs, (i'm to lazy to check for grammar mistakes)

i once translated the letters on the statue but i dont remember and they are probably once said by fictional enzo ferrari im sure it was saying something diffrent about speed i remember developers could have changed the text on there
For the Italy “remaster” if they do plan on doing one, they need to just do something with the islands off the coast, kind of like what they did in wcusa. If they do that and refine the main map a bit then I think Italy will be an almost perfect map, idk what else would make Italy the best map in BeamNG.

I think a racetrack would be awful on Italy. We already got a racetrack on west coast usa and that sucks up half the map. The suburbs is litterly 1 street and you can cross the city in like 1/2 minutes. It would be way nicer if race tracks stayed seperate or were off the main map, like how the highway continues on Jonhson Valley.

This map needs some upgrades like working traffic lights. WCUSA already has plenty, so how hard is it to put in working Euro style traffic lights?
Also some of the road markings make no sense especially in Norte.
Other than that it's a pretty good map.

I think the BeamNG devs should add a German map that combines the Autobahn and the Nürburgring in one map, that is kinda similar in size to Italy.
That would definitely make sense as BeamNG is a German game after all

As an italian, I don't like the italy map in Beam NG. The map represents too much what people outside Italy might think italy is, but thats just small cities outside towns and doesn't represent Italy that much. It just feels like they should add a main big urban area and maybe surround that with those small cities instead of focusing the map just on the small cities the devs might have visited while they were in holiday as those are not really what us italian see most of the time
The problem is, BeamNG maps still aren't that big. The devs are good at making them feel larger than they actually are, but making very large maps either requires janky workarounds or is the province of modders (usually with a corresponding decrease in things like visual quality). If they tried to add a big city, it would eat half the map, unless they just compressed it way too much as on WCUSA.
cars still handle like they are on ice. in modern car 150km/h on the highway shouldn't be a handling issue...yet it is.

I really like Italy and the amount of detail but the castle and some buildings are low on details, especially if you leave your car an walk around you recognize the low degree of detail of the buildings, especially the castle on the top pf the mountain.

In my opinion civetta bolide is not that bad/hard to control
But
That new civetta is absolute trash
It could be that the surfaces of the Italy map are more slippery than on other maps, but it might also be an issue with the floating point since the map is huge.
