Thank you, Evan, for being inspired by Ella's moccasins to tell the story of her and Jim and their unjust, untimely ends. I grieve along with you over the murders of Jim Averill and Ella Watson and am disappointed along with you that their murderers were never brought to justice. I appreciate George Hufsmith for his well-researched and well-written book about Jim and Ella's lives before the lynchings and about the wide-ranging coverup that took place in the wake of the crimes. I believe it would have been a privilege and a delight for an ordinary individual like myself to have known both Ella and Jim.
There were some independent Wyoming newspapers in this era that were not controlled by livestock interests. But the Cheyenne papers in almost all cases supported the activities of the cattlemen.
I started my journey in St.Louis and like most of my heroes I moved West at a young age and ended up in Casper. Not too many places in Wyoming that I haven’t seen, hunted or fished. That was a long time ago and my life has brought me back to Missouri. I sure do miss my ol Wyoming home and hopefully my feet can touch it again before my last journey begins.
Your stories are always very interesting, Evan. They also bring to light many unknown facts and tidbits of Wyoming and United States history. They are always welcomed and appreciated!
Wonderful account of history, keep it up. Real life is more interesting than movies and few movies capture how it might have been. Good reminder for good folks to stand against powerful groups that seek to terrorize and rule over a thing.
One of my Great Uncles was involved in the Johnson County Range War on the side of the Settlers. Lester Allen. He had either a sister or an Aunt that married Jack Langrishe of Deadwood South Dakota fame. His sister was my Great Grandmother whom I met when she was at least 95 and I was 9 or 10 in 1964 or '65. My Mom's family are very interesting.
I like firearms history as well BUT this was ever bit as interesting as the history of a pistol or rifle. Evan is always interesting to listen and learn from.

Hey, that's an interesting story.
Personally, I don't care if it's about firearms or not.
Thank you. I plan to do some swords, bayonets, and knives in future videos.
Not a firearm, not interested..please don't deviate from weapons.
How about swords? Bayonets? I have more firearms on the list, but plan on some knives and other edged weapons in the future. Sorry to disappoint you.

If you smelled my shoes, you’d be more scared of them than a gun😂
