I don't have kids yet. But anyway I always keep a rosary on my purse. To church I carry a mantilla, a Misal for Traditional Mass, money, a plastic bottle for holy water to bring home. By the way I love your channel. You are awesome!
I remember those little Saint Joseph books 💙 the illustrations are so innocent and cute.
I just found your channel and I'm so glad I did!! I've been searching for a Catholic mommy channel. I have a 14 month old so I'm looking forward to listening to your insight ☺
I am glad you found my channel too! I was having a hard time finding Catholic Mommy channels too and felt God was calling to do this:) I love that age of 14 months!
My dear, I just got a cold and you know what? I am in a CZcams Marathon of your videos!!!!! Really you are so sweet : God Bless your family!!!!!
I hope you get better soon! But I am glad you are liking the videos!
I'm on a Lenten marathon! 😜 I could watch all the Catholic moms.
We got really lucky and have a super easy toddler who almost never misbehaves (and I use that term loosely because she's just that easy going!). But part of that is we give her the freedom to doodle in a Bible coloring book, to collect the pencils and collection envelopes, to sit and stand and lie down on the kneeler, etc. we do let her have teddy Graham's which she never gets at other times and that works really well for us, although we are slowly transitioning to not snacking and waiting for the donut after Mass. this was a helpful video!
My kids are teens and pay attention during mass but we just had a baby last year and love these ideas for when my Thomas gets bigger
I'm so glad to have found your channel! I have 3 kids 4,2,and a 9month old. We do cheerios and quiet toys but encourage participation for the 4 year old. It's hard keeping them quiet at times but consistency has helped. Me and my husband have always wanted them to be with us and they are getting what correct behavior in church is like. They usually get something special if they were extra good.
Oh my gosh, you are my new best friend on CZcams! Haha. You remind me so much of myself! love this video!! In our Mass Bag we keep a set of laminated holy cards that are all attached to a ring. The young ones love flipping through those and looking at the saints! I also printed onto paper icons which I then pasted onto the surface of several wooden tongue depressor sticks. After cutting them apart with a Xacto knife, I then covered them in clear packing tape and put at the bottom of each stick either a number or a letter from the alphabet. As our son puts together the image puzzle by arranging the wooden sticks, he can use the numbers or letters to put them in numerical or alphabetical order. So they're self-checking, essentially!! Thanks for sharing your ideas. Like I said, you are my new BFF on here...my new favorite CZcamsr!!
That is great! I'm always up for new BFF's :) Glad you like the channel! I love all your ideas for the Church bag great ideas! Thanks for sharing!
My oldest daughter started religion classes in 1st grade. She went through the First communion this past year which was her second year. My middle child starts first year next year. First year is rosary, second year is the first communion and confession. I thought it would be interesting to find things to made my youngest a little quieter in church
I remember those days with the little ones in mass. My kids are all grown up now and play music at mass! We are blessed. I just subscribed and enjoy your videos!
love that they play music at mass!
My daughter is a little over one so I bring her stuffed octopus and her sippy. She sits next to me or in arms in the congregation as close as possible to the front. She’s called the Monsignor “Papa” which made me laugh.
Very inspiring! aaaaaand I like the bag!
I hope you feel better ❤
Our church does have a children's Mass. They go down and they have a children's message of the readings.
We bring quiet toys, but our parish has these great little Magnificat board books that we can borrow and return after Mass! The kids of the parish love them :)
My church has busy bags with stuff like that
This is so helpful!! I need to get those sewing things! I've seen them in the dollar area at Target. Also need to get that Boogie Board, just found it on Amazon. I have learned not to take snacks. They are messy, loud and if you run out it's not pretty.
Pray the Holy Rosary.
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Amen 🙏🏼
Oh man- we have tried everything. We moved to very big parish and were spoiled in our small community churches before I think. Our parish has children's liturgy which our oldest goes to when he wants to but other than that they boys stay with us.
This is the first parish where there is a crying room and we did use it at first but found the kids were learning that they could be louder in there so we moved out.
We don't bring much to Mass- a few picture books and a chewable rosary for the toddler and try to sit at the front up in the balcony. Kids can see more but I don't have to walk past 50 pews in the walk of shame if one starts having a tantrum ;)
Thanks for the ideas! My boys hate colouring but stickers are all the rage :)
Lol "the walk of shame" I think we have all been there with our kids at church! I love the sticker idea we will have to add that in to the bag.
loved the video! What a brilliant idea to have this kind of bag! I've never heard about them before. in my local church they have colouring pages for kiddies. I still have loads of them mini books from my childhood. I'll make sure to pop them into a bag for my babies when they get bigger. 👍🏻
Love this! Good idea with the marbles.
Love your bag...I had one for my daughter and grandaughter...my grandson has the fish crackers added to his...if he has listened until communion he gets the fish at closing hymns...in Canada we have catholic stores to buy the books and colouring books in...great reasons for the bag...some parents wait until school so their children listen...I love the learning process before...god bless
How funny I know it was two years ago that you added this video but right now i I have a 5 year old a 4 a 14 month and pregnant lol I don't take my kids anything usually we struggle it out with them they are getting better but my 14 month old is the one I battle with she's exploring her voice and when it's quite during the homily she thinks it's funny to hear her echo.
What a great video! This is great information you're sharing!
Thanks! Glad you liked it:)
i have nieces! I will defitnely try this out whenever I go to Mass with them :)
loving your channel , and I don't even have kids :)
Awe thanks! I'm glad you like the channel!
So as a Protestant with a lot of little ones - I figured out how to get them occupied in church services but once I took them to mass, all bets off. Coloring seems like it’s disrespectful, things falling on the ground seems to be too loud, I can’t seem to pay attention. Just everything I read is contradictory- children are welcome yet expected to be quiet, well behaved ect. And now with masks I can’t silently communicate to the little ones easily anymore so it makes it worse.
I completely understand what you are saying it is really heard to have the kids quiet as mass. Picture books like bible for kids have helped my kids be quiet at mass. The struggle is real! Do you have a cry room? We have had that at some churches and that has always been helpful.
What a great idea! I love the books!
Thank you! Those books are awesome:)
Thank you so much for this video! I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old, and it's tough keeping their little hands occupied during mass. I actually just found and purchased some printable mass cards for them so they can kind-of follow along with what Father is saying. I'm also ordering those books and a rosary based on your suggestions, so thank you!! Off to view some of your other videos. Congrats on your new baby girl! (BTW, I'm "happyscrappysam" on IG :) )
I'm so glad you liked my video:) love the idea of having printable mass cards!
I have a 5 yrs and a soon 3 yrs. I have also tried to have good things in a bag for them. saintsbooklet like yours, a Rosary-coloring book, crayons, and have also tried to come up with some Montessori-inspired quiet things to do. something similar as those sewing Cards. Tried different things over time. Sometimes worked out well. Often not. My 5 yrs were very still when she was like 2 yrs. But very hard to have in Mass when 3-4 yrs. My 3-yrs have been very much ”baby” and wanted to be in my lap, nursing. Now she climbes a LOT...and they run out to a playroom and back...not easy. Good inspiration there how you do it with your 5-yrs. Will try something like that! She loves Jesus and Mary and talks about spirital things a lot. So good time to teach her more about how to behave in Mass. They both know that Jesus is there. My 3-yrs often says: ”Jesus is here (points on her heart) and in the Mass. ❤️😊🙏
Thankyou for such a great video
Glad you liked it!
I think those St Joseph picture books have been the same price for about 40 years! I noticed them in my Catholic book store recently and they still only cost a couple of dollars ❤️
I recommend everyone watch Gabi after hours' video about taking children to Mass. He is so kind and patient and understanding. And he doesn't believe in dumbing down the Mass, even for very little children.
Sad that my children are grown up, I would have made a good use of your advices. They are 16, 12 and 8. I remember how difficult was going to mass with them, it was very chaotic, but I miss it so much :(
You can go with me :)
Could you do one of what you take to mass and use?
How do you make sure they don't bang the hard material items on the pew? My 18 month old will throw things or hit them on the hard pew to make noise. He likes the echo :)
Love the video! What kind of bag is that? Seems like it would be perfect for me & my toddlers needs!
I got it at Marshalls last fall not sure of the brand name:)
What type of bag do u have I love it thanks for sharing many blessings
Super
Awesome cath mom. Your church bag must be heavy. All worth it.
Where did you get your bag I love it
Congratulations
Where can we get some of these things. like the sewing cards and the boogie drawing boards? Love the sewing cards.
The sewing card was at the Target dollar section a while ago but I think Melissa and Doug makes something similar so I would check both of them on amazon:)
LindyTN dollar tree!
We bring diapers, wipes, snacks, crayons, coloring books or sticker books.
