Hans did not receive an invitation because other players higher rated and more prestigious than him take precedence over him. It is not necessary fair, but that is just standard procedure.

Yes, the hotel room incident occurred during the Sinquefield Cup. I am not quite certain what circumstances allowed for Hans to be invited to the GCT that year. In any case, I was correct generally, but Hans was not included for a different reason that I had previously stated. The reason was that Hans damaged property, gave non-interviews, and failed to meet contractual obligations, resulting in him not being invited to any STL events until he has proved his conduct has been amended.
