Big Ant like to not tell anyone about anything - delays, missing features, when game breaking stuff will get patched.
We want nothing more than a genuinely great rugby game. Augustin Pichot highlighted of its importance when he was campaigning to become president of World Rugby and the jobs for the boys lot weren’t interested so long as their mate was still in charge. A great rugby game could be enormous for rugby as a whole and we as a fanbase have been starved, although the bones of a good game were there in Rugby 22

@OscarOSullivan Yeah it did, but the gameplay on Rugby 22 was definitely not awful, a part from the running mechanics they were awful.
As an Irishman I can't wait to see what life is like after the quarters.

Personally I'd prefer one really great game than another rushed one that's shit. If we get a new one and we're still playing it 16 yrs from now nobody will even remember it was delayed.

@@alliedatheistalliance6776 I agree. But I'd add that BigAnt set the expectations. They told us the release dates, not us. Nobody is upset it's taking time, we're upset they told us how much more time and those numbers were clearly drawn out of a hat.

This is so cool to see some actual stuff from behind the scenes. Been following the game since first announcement. Cant wait to get our hands on the final game, and even get to see squidge in the crowd!!!

Class. So good to see the guy behind it, to see he’s a rugby fan, and that he seems really serious about getting it right. People have waiting over 15 years for a good rugby game, another 6m isn’t the end of the world if it makes it successful.

It sounds like they are trying to make the game too big. Just focus on making the gameplay good and fun, eve if it's a small amount of teams at first. Then add the rest of the teams with updates. I have a feeling we will have all the teams and then terrible, clumsy gameplay.

Agreed. The gameplay is so much more important than whether you can play as a minor nation or not.
People will keep playing and buying the game if it doesn't have eg. Spain in it. They won't if eg. the breakdowns don't work realistically.
I agree to a point, but I have to say I love the effort they putting into this game.
I suspect this is also the kind of task that you would like to get done in one go and not have to go on the road again 6 months after release to get the models for the other teams.
Still it feels like a lot of work for not that much added fun from a gameplay standpoint.
Especially because Big Ants original biggest strength was their creation tools which helped get around the licensing issues

Gameplay so much more important than teams. You can just patch and update teams and make them DLC etc.

I’m so glad they confirmed they would have Edinburgh in there.
I am excited and supportive. But surely the decision to include 140 nations is not worth the time, effort and money. In realistic terms 50 would be more than enough. Just my opinion. Best of luck to the team completing the game.

Seen some of the pictures of the grounds they have been going around, honestly I love the effort they are putting into this game.

It really looks like everything is going to be different this time without it being a repeat of last time. Only issue is we don’t know when the release date is, but you can tell loads of passion and heart is being poured into this! Thanks Squidge! I hope you get payed loads of cash for this!
Ross Symonds has done brilliantly with the cricket games producing the only half-decent thing since 2007. Really pumped for this!
Problem is after 17 years they still producing only a half decent game.. the face scans are not always the best...community can created faces far better without cameras

oh how i dream of the day a decent playable rugby game. i do love theyre trying. happy to wait that little bit longer if it means the game has signs of being what us fans expect.
Having lots of teams, official licensing, good graphics and player likeness are all good but very, very secondary to the gameplay.
The last few rugby games I played were horrendous with Clunky mechanics and really didn’t play anything like a real game of rugby.
Gameplay is what they need to deliver on. Fingers crossed.

I hope they add the EPCR and the Super Rugby Pacific aswell as licensed national teams
Nothing would be more iconic than if for the All Blacks you actually had the Haka and for the Boks you had amaGwijo(Xhosa war cry) when they exit the tunnels…rugby is personal and emotional especially in national teams. That’d be an amazing inclusion for as many teams as possible.

Big Ant studios need to kick rocks man. Need to give it to another studio that will give us a proper fun rugby game.

- interesting POV cutscene, I wonder if there is a player career mode (love it in NBA 2k games)
- Rugby 22 on my PC things it needs to push the GPU harder than RDR2 or Cyberpunk. I genuinely hope they didn't put too many resources into "ALL the teams" and high-detail player models, at the expense of performance
Then there are a few pet peeves I have with Rugby 22, but those are minor overall
Looks like they're doing a great job with the licences. But I hope there will be big improvements in gameplay too
As an American rugby fan and an avide gamer I can’t wait to see this game come to light. Here I’m the states we have rugby but not at the scale of Europe. Would love love love love to see it become more accessible.
I wonder if it would help to have several crews gathering imagery simultaneously - surely the capital burn rate must be significant!

Love this, the last game I bought was rugby challenge 3 and before that rugby 11, i stopped buying them cause there was nothing worse than wanting to play as my favourite players but instead got Joe blogs 😅😂
If I was Big Ant Studio's with such a small team, I would rather make a Rugby game and plan for it to have a lofe cycle of 2 or 3 years with updated kits etc etc, untill they atleast have a team that can complete yearly games

Since they can't release a yearly or even bi anual release I think this model could work for them.

I would love a career mode like the way it is in fifa like youth team or under 20s and you can bring them up to the 1st team or like pro clubs but in rugby if that makes sense
Surely it would’ve been a better strategy to release a complete world cup game with just RWC, all the teams, solid gameplay & no other modes & then release other comps and modes progressively or as DLC?!

Me too but all that stuff is important for a lot of gamers, just look at how many whinge and moan, so I get it that they want to make it as good as they can.
Absolutely. Nobody looks back at RWC 2011 or Jonah Lomu 2008 because they had good graphics. As long as the game play is fun then the rest is secondary

I would gladly take a game where the gameplay feels natural and flows well than one that goes all over the world scanning player faces. Rugby's biggest issue in video games is that most of the games have never gotten the mechanics of the sport right, with the exception of maybe Rugby 08 and Jonah Lomu Rugby.
Still no gameplay extract, traditionally for any games the 3Cs and vertical slice is the first thing you show

okay, so you're telling me that, for example, my friends Claudia Peña, Nadina Cisa, Claudia Cano from Las Leonas, will be in a videogame... that's awesome, they're people I've played with and against hahaha
This will be massive for Rugby and I genuinely think it could help turn the tide on the struggles the game is experiencing. FIFA played such a huge part in me getting into football and helped me learn a lot about clubs and players, and I think this has the potential to do the same. The fantasy element certainly can play a part too, and I think any career mode aspect would be a key part in it. Great to see them going out of their way to include obscure rugby nations too.

They need to be able to manage the introduction of changes better. Great having lofty goals but there should have been a cut off for what was being included in the 2024 game so a 2024 game could be released. The additional improvements come as updates or in the 2026 version
I reallly just want an updated rugby 08. What do I mean by that? A licenced World Cup top 20 teams, licenced clubs from NH URC, Top14, Euro Cup, AND I REALLLY WANT SUPERPACIFIC CUp. If we can get the SH clubs in then this will complete me in life.
I also want to be able to edit all teams and for it to save.
Having post game stats. Same as league, career etc stats you can see throughout a season.

I feel like they’ll get all the World Cup teams so the big ones like England and South Africa and the smaller ones like Namibia and Portugal. Maybe even some countries that missed out like USA and Canada.
The international team? Seems likely. He said they're doing 140 nations so they'll surely get everyone from the world cup at a minimum. I imagine the 2023 World Cup will be a playable mode (like '07 was in Rugby 08)
Club teams? I wouldn't be too hopeful. Sounds like the focus is on the bigger tournaments.

I think that they also need to have an option like fifa ultimate team so they will have more money to develope future rugby games who will get better as quality. I know it's like gambling but I can't see otherwise for a small software house
Would it not be easier to pay someone with the equipment in the different countries to go round and do this and send it all back to a central hub. Would save money on the travel and would mean a massive job becomes significantly easier

South Africa realistiis Overall 96 best team in the world and New zealand at 93, but these guys seem very far fetched and too good to be true this game wont be worth it.
All I ask is not to spam buttons at each ruck, or time things when pushing in a scrum. I liked the way it was played in Rugby 06/08.
- That similar engine with slightly heavier feeling players/ slower players
- Much more animations
- Robust career system with regens

If rugby 24 doesn't add a team of the season 99 overall rated Will Owen card that I can sink a lot of money into micro transactions to get for my fantasy team, then I don't want it installed on my playstation. I'm a simple man that knows a quality player when he sees it
We just want a fun game with complete campaign seasons and visual accuracy.
