    You sold me at "gotta get this bugger-bear right in there". Nice to hear good instruction from a good ole boy.

    The little screw that holds the rubber in backed out on mine. Saved me a lot of time and money, thank you!

    This little czcams.com/users/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.

    Thank you so much for this video, it certainly helped. We had replaced the rubber gasket but was never told about the seats. Had to pull back out and replaced the seats. Found parts at Ace Hardware like you said, now no more running water when it is supposed to be turned off.

    My landlord is refusing to fix our shower because “it’s too old and they don’t make parts for it anymore”. But I see she’s probably wrong!

      Go to Ace Hardware for most of the parts you need , you may have to get stems from a plumbing supplier

    AWESOME video. First time American Standard handle removal. What's the handle removal tool named? (The first tool you used in this video after the screw driver.) Couldn't make out the name you called it when you pointed it out in your Plumbers toolbox. I will need to buy one ASAP. Hopefully a local plumbing supplier has them. Thank you for your time!

    Same EXACT thing happened to me. I thought I would get away with a washer but NOOOOOOOOOOO. I ended up going to a plumbing supply and it was a little more than 30 bucks

    • @dustyguy
      @dustyguy  Před rokem

      I can surely believe that. These are some old faucets that a person can't find parts anymore. When you do they're expensive

    Are all American Standard shower valves compatible with each other ?
    Thanks, Gerry from San Diego,CA

    • @dustyguy
      @dustyguy  Před 7 lety

      No. Take the stem and parts to Ace Hardware or a local plumbing supply to get the correct parts.

      At 2:38 the nut that holds the seat in place is loose, tighten it up some more . If you have it tight then you may have 2 washers on the seat nut and it not bottoming out. let me know if that works

    What is the part number for the new valve and seat?

    • @dustyguy
      @dustyguy  Před 3 lety +2

      valve and seat s-965-4 and s-953-3 . Take the old ones with you, there are a few different ones. This is at Ace Hardware and if they don't have it they can order it

    • @dustyguy

      lowes or home depot or any plumbing supply store buy a good one, some handles are on tight.

    My cold water side is leaking so I replaced the whole valve and the seat but for some reason my faucet still leaking. Anyone has a solution?

    • @dustyguy
      @dustyguy  Před 5 lety

      Most of the time it's the hot water side. replace the rubber washer and see if that changes it. or turn off the water to the hot water heater and see if thats stops the leak.

    You leave out information like do you have the thing all the way open or do you have it all the way closed when you screw it in. Open !

    • @dustyguy
      @dustyguy  Před 3 lety

      should be open when installing it back into the valve. I'll make that clear on the next video. Thanks for the information

    dusty guy
    At 3;28 in your video, you pull another part out of the wall stem. That's also a part of the valve ??

    • @dustyguy
      @dustyguy  Před 6 lety

      That is the seat that is part of the stem. If you purchase the stem you will also receive the seat also. or at some plumbing stores you can purchase just the seat. Beware there is a right turn and a left turn
