    My FAV shakey head is the 1/8 oz Buckeye Lures Spot Remover Pro Model.
    I rig it with a Rzr Shad and jerk it. It has the most erratic action you'll EVER see. The flat face and the jointed swimbait combo make it dart unpredictably, in every which way you can imagine, going up and falling down, when you give it a quick rip.

    Two things I have to say about shaky heads. First off fish whatever weight your comfortable throwing if you’re new. Second of all is don’t be scared to pitch it. Throw it around stumps,logs,rock,weeds,Ect. It kills it in any conditions. Even muddy water it can destroy alot of other baits.

    I asked this question on another Intuitive Angling posts and apologize if an answer was given and I didn't see it, but I'm going to ask it again here. Do you use scent on the worm after you've "massaged it" with your hand prior to rigging? All the research I've done on the question of how well fish smell suggests that they have incredible olfactory senses and that human scent is a detractor. And if you've been handling gasoline for your boat and other potential "smelly" substances, it's even worse. Shaky heads are fished almost in place and fish obviously can have time to smell the bait before striking. I'm curious whether Randy has ever considered this and what are his thoughts?

    Hello sir! I'm a huge fan from Philippines! You're the first pro I've watched since I started fishing about 2 years ago. I have a question: So I only fish a single, deep, pressured reservoir here in my country because there's only two bodies of water with bass here. All the fisherman use a texas rigged zoom mag2 and a dropshot to catch fish. I also use it bec I seldom fish and I don't want to get skunked whenever I fish. But I really want to use other lures just cause I feel the said rigs are kinda mainstream. Can you recommend other techniques to catch these finicky fish?

  • @caseydangar1193
    @caseydangar1193 Před 3 lety

    Screw lock shaky heads are better all around in my opinion. And this is the first time I've ever seen anyone bring the point through and expose the hook on a shaky head. Keep the hook just barely under the skin and it takes such a small amount of force for it to break through. That way its totally weedless. Where I fish you would be getting hung up and picking grass and junk off your bait all day. But if you just absolutely for some reason want to expose the hook through the lure just text pose the hook. Can not thing of any reason to be having the hook totally exposed on a shaky head or any work for that matter.

  • @joeyhewitt7724
    @joeyhewitt7724 Před 3 lety

    Randy, on lakes like Santee Cooper, what factors determine when I should be fishing large baits with bulk vs small finesse techniques?
    I missed my club tournament yesterday due to quarantine. Moultrie was 63-65 degree temps and Marion was mid 50s. Both lakes were very muddy. Of course spawning ponds had better looking water. My Dad is one-dimensional and throws zoom 6-inch u-tale year around. He always struggles on Santee Cooper. I convinced to throw a 6 inch senko yesterday. He caught a 6 lber and lost 2 other big ones.
    So the decision to put the big bait down and go with a finesse application...does that vary based on the water clarity, size of the fish, cold fronts, or is it something that could be determined by the fish’s mood swing that day?

    • @randyblaukatintuitive
      @randyblaukatintuitive  Před 3 lety +1

      A lot of it depends on the type of lake in the time of year Santee Cooper is a lot different because it’s not much of a rocky lake With typical man made lake at structures. As far as the Shakey head goes, I would probably use it around the cypress trees in the post spawn in the summer. This time of year I’ll be finishing a big jig around those trees
