Being born in 1970 I trully feel blessed for experiencing so many changes in life. We went from BW TVs to color, from CRTs to plasma to lcd to led to Oled, from VHS to dvd to bluray to streaming. I have my entire music collection on a usb stick in my car and can add any song from the comfort of my house, I went from amiga to ps1 and so on to now game on my tablet and my pc. If I need anything from repair instructions to ordering food or paying bills I can do online. And I feel blessed because kids today didn't live through those transitions and can't fully appreciate the time they're living in.
I feel blessed to have grown up without the pressure of social media, with space and time for my own thoughts -- and to have have my young crazy years before AIDs, to have known early heroes of the civil rights movement, to have seen America come to its senses and end the Vietnam war, to have had a good job straight out of college and no debt and buy a home, and start my adult life with OPTIMISM, but there you are. To each his own
I'm a 1970 baby too
My parents bought me some Silly Putty once.... 😢
The one about the Dads having to eat the end pieces of the sliced bread KILLED ME lol
In the 80s we all got along no matter your race, color, religion etc the best of times lots of fun and freedom
LOL, no?
Yes, good times
That's a lie. I'm 48 and grew up in a blue collar town. We had race wars in middle school and the lunchroom was segregated by the students by neighborhoods, which were also segregated.
@Budget_Prepper Sounds like the history of blue states.
I think there was more acceptance of differences, but I wouldn't say we all got along. I grew up in a racially and ethnically diverse area, like the United Nations lol but I was also followed home from school one day by two boys shouting racial epithets. Go figure.
4:36 You had me at "Tetris blocks have names and here they are". Who the hell knew ????
The 80 s were the best. So dangerous but we didn't care as long as we had fun. Coming home for supper, gone off by ourselves no supervision.....😅😂❤ I still have that ancient alarm clock, works great...
I agree the 80's were great but not for those reasons...😂
As a kid born in the 60s was sometimes totally awesome. So very different from the way kids are growing up now.
5:28 - That "ancient artifact" still wakes me up, more than 30 years after it was given to me by some supplier.
I have mine from 1985 and it works perfect,I keep it in my home office! Since 1985 the memories we had!
I’m still using that clock. It’s been over 30 years. Works like a charm.
5:31 I use my 30 yo clock radio every day. Half the buttons dont work anymore but the clock and alarm still work. So Im driving it till the wheels fall off.
WOW!!, 😲 AMazing !!!
LOL Same!! 💯
I have, and use, that Exact Clock Radio..... gave me a good laugh.
5:32
Holy crap the sound of that alarm when you don't want to get up.
Ether way, you were no longer tired. Lol
Nostalgic about the 80s and 90s. Puhleeze. I got out of the Army in 1975.
Who wants to talk nostalgia?
I graduated high school in '75
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be!
I was born 1975 😁
Guess the wifi is good at the retirement home.
I was born in 1960 😅
Square dancing in 4th grade wears you out and then you don’t bother the teachers so much. Square dancing in HS is great to meet girls you’d never get to meet otherwise. 👍
I remember learning Square Dancing around about 4th grade - 65 years later and I'm still a Square Dance caller LOL
my "ancient artifact from a more civilized time" is still functioning perfectly thank you very much.
Seeing Dj Jazzy Jeff get tossed out by Uncle Phil on Fresh Prince. That hit my nostalgia.
Ho!! Pizza Hut🍕 and a 🍺 root beer 1978. Listening to a LP purchased at Tower Records. That was called living high on the hog. And i miss it...
And the pan was hotter than a microwaved pizza roll.
Willie Nelson on the Muppets was spot on!! I didn't know you could "program" those car radios until I was like 17 and read the manual for my car out of boredom one day. My parents always had them set and never changed them.
Dude, we did a LOT of square dancing in school. Started in K and went right up through high school. And I wasn't in an area of the country you'd expect that from...
Viennetta! In our house we literally had to measure each slice to make sure that no-one got a bigger piece than anyone else. Otherwise there’d be a scrap 🥊🥊
Vienetta was so awesome. I grew up poor, so having one was absolute heaven
@@bothanjedirogue I think they are still a treat even now.
1:09 the most wonderous experience I had in a shop like that was while queueing at the information desk, the person being served asking "You know that singer?", the attendant and the rest of the queue taking literally a couple of seconds to register that that was the whole question and then, in sync, everybody looking at each other with the glance that specifically reads "seriously?" while trying hard not to LOL.
Loved this! I'm so jonesing right now for the simpler times back then. Thanks!
Same! I miss those days. Kids today don’t know what’s good. lol, I guess I’m gettin old.
We have 2 of those "ancient artifacts" in our home right now and use both of them daily. We were taught to square dance in the 3rd grade. (St Rose of Lima)
Sister of that< picture. Some of these made me almost cry .....please do a 60's to 70's we didn't have all the gadgets, but the freedom mixed with responsibility was awesome!!!! And please do a pic of Captain Kangaroo 🦘.... Here in Nashville TN, it was wonderful!!! But now, I live in a senior tower in the same area, and it SUCKS!! Yes, I' m a pissed off 68 year old ...but my memories are wonderful ❤❤❤❤❤
Columbia House!!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I almost got caught up with the Columbia House 12 TAPES for a penny. 🤣
@@nkotbsouth i have a while wall from floor to ceiling of VHS tapes i got from Columbia House-and a VCR that still works to play them! 🤣
@@xMister.Misterx 👍🏽🤣
Someone actually tp d the school at the end of my junior year. Next year, found a whole roll during fire drill
I see the clock is still stuck on 12:00!
If they had shown a VCR it would have been too.
1:22 Title says "Safety Regulations in the 80's," but the pic was taken in 1965. Huh?
By 1980 every chairlift had a safety bar.
I knew those clothes looked too dated even for the 80s!😮
I was born in 76 so I remember the GOOD ole days quite well ❤❤❤
I was today years old when I learned that the Tetris blocks have names.
Wish I was as young as you.
But the square dancing? I did, but the question “why” remains 40 years later!
About 5 yr ago I (35) was volunteering and a new guy came in, he is 4 yrs younger than me. I was organizing the office where we had a lot of out dated crap and I came across a floppy disk (last time i used one was in college about 17-ish and couldn't afford a USB until my friend gave me her 128mb one that year). I looked at him and dead pan asked him what it was and he smiled and said it was a floppy disk. I waited 10 seconds until he realized that I was 4 yrs older and I knew what it was.
Back then you couldn't wait to see what happened next! Now we just sit around waiting for the end
It's funny to see people talk like 20 years ago was a long time ago. For some of us, 1982 feels like last week.
Twenty years ago was 2004. 1982 was 42 years ago.
I just subscribed and this is the very FIRST video i have watched from your channel 🤣
The Vienetta one was as true in Australia, as America - it was 🌟fancy🌟 So you knew it had been a good day when Mum bought that...
4:09
Priceless!!!
I number of times I do this is showing my age.. but lovin it
Damn those deep dish pizzas.
The clock radio….Sony had a cool model but was the name Dream Machine, or Sleep Machine?
I STILL remember my and my best friend's phone number . That was back when we didn't have to dial the area code. I am 61.
That “80s safety regulation” one has such a beautiful view.
Back at the end of the sixties, my fourth form( 10 th grade, I think,) learned American square dancing, and we're in England!
I was born in ‘87 so I guess technically I’m more of a 90’s kid. A lot of these brought back memories though. The emoji markers brought a smile to my face. The chair lift as well. Reminded me of a trip my family took to Tennessee. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. 😊
I dont see the lie in ANYTHING that was said here. My 9 year old had the UNMITIGATED GALL to ask me "old phones had CORDS in them?" I almost took her ipad, phone, wifi access AND emotional support frog from her
Springsteen, Madonna
Way before Nirvana there was
U2, and Blondie
Music still on MTV
Her two kids, in high school
They tell her that she's uncool.
Cause she's still preoccupied
With 19,
1985
Madonna is still going ... must be almost Joe Biden level old by now.
@@AdLockhorst-bf8pz Have you seen what she looks like now? It's frightening.
@@Chris-dm1je I have 🤢 and, worse, saw her Eurovision song contest appearance... except that I didn't because I heard it and my ears started to bleed. As s result of which my glasses fell off.
czcams.com/video/PCxgi9WzaM8/video.htmlsi=-MvnNKG-RQt9f1uV
But *you have been warned,* okay?!
@AdLockhorst-bf8pz Holy crap. I _had_ to look, didn't I? Sychophantic, vomit inducing introduction from a pair of plastic muppets, over the top pretentious setting* and then that strangulated voice and poncey eye patch crap. At least she still had one of her original faces at that time.
* Actually, if it had been a decent singer and song, that setup would have looked great. Sisters of Mercy "Dominion", Meatloaf, "The Monster is Loose", The Dixie Cups "Chapel of Love".
The luxury of Viennetta ice cream cake also hit hard in my country.
Brilliant 🤣
4:20 lmfao I love this one
I remember so many of these things 😂.
That desk was a baby boomer bomb shelter first.
3.21 I didn't know Hall and Oates were fruit cakes. 😢
My whole life is a lie. 😫
9:10 only Willie Nelson could look normal??? Which one is Willie 🤪
5:34 I think I have that in my garage to listen to msic!
3:34 I think I still have that set!!!!!
Ah the 80’s where parents never took care of their kids but the kids have to take care their parents. Ah dumb times 😂
7:49 🤣
I still make my sandwich with chips inside.❤
5:23. Neither do I.....
12:43. What's the sacrifice? The end crusts are the best bits of a loaf of bread!
I don't get the first one either. The sacrifice with the sandwich is ends of bread, minimal meat, and minimal cheese. The only ends of bread I like are on French bread.
I didn't get it either, but apparently it's Jazzy Jeff getting thrown out by Uncle Phil in the Fresh Prince of Belair 😊
@@glorm As I said, the end crusts are the best bits, and personally, the less cheese the better! If the sandwich could be made in a room, or better yet a building, which has never contained cheese, I would be happy...
@@christopherdean1326 I agree with you on the cheese stuff.
The end pieces are the worst. At my house, they are usually fed to the dogs or the squirrels and birds.
Do you also prefer the corner brownies? I like the middle ones (no crust, just soft delicious brownie delight). 😋
Born in 1979..I do remember very well ❤
5:27 - Whaddya mean? I still HAVE one of them in my bedroom!
I want that intro song to be played at my funeral some day.
12:14 I’m a professional horror specialist and Justin Long is incredible! I can confirm in my experience that he is one of the unluckiest actors in horror cinema history. Jeepers Creepers, Tusk, Drag Me to Hell (which fortunately he’s fine but is totally mentally scarred)
my grandparents never slipped me money like a drug dealer but I can relate because I'm dependent on drugs
Did anyone else have to bounce balls on a parachute while 'Another One Bites the Dust' blasted from the 2' long radio/ cassette player, or run around beneath the parachute after square dancing?
American Werewolf in London. Saw it in theaters when I was 12.
Well, the first fifteen minutes anyway.... 😂😂😂
I lasted until the last 15 minutes. Kinda weak to watch all the jump scares & gore just to bail when she makes it to the entrance of the alley but I was grabbed by my stepbrother as he ran out & I figured I could always blame him.
holy shit the blocks have names
Awwwww memories 🥰🥰
Duck and cover is really misunderstood. Well i should say nuclear explosions are misunderstood. Yes, if you're in the initial blast zone you're dead. But, if not you have to worry about the shockwave, hence get under the desk and then afterwards you had 15 minutes to before you had to worry about radiation.
Kids still use abbreviations from the 9 pad days.
You cant beat a cheese and ham heel end toastie
1:23 that one scares me just looking at it. 😬 9:55 honestly, I wonder if it still works. ?
9:49 Bonus points if you can sing the theme song!
Pizza hut still is a delicacy
Pizza Hut pan fried pizza was NEVER a delicacy. They were Stodge to fill your belly. Nothing more.
What happened to Viennetta? Is it still available somewhere?
11:21 I feel this hits harder when you live anywhere else in the world outside the American west of west.
Right up there with cursive writing.
What a sad childhood you must have had when calling memes nostalgic.
Pizza Hut also taste was better back in the day, everything was they changed recipes several times since the 1980's this includes every fast food outlet. YES it is 100% different, sure some are similar but it tastes like a company trying to copy.
I'd love to go back to the 80s!!! Much better times than the shit today!!! 😢
Aussie country born 1970's - rope swing on river 1st B/W TV Countdown recording songs off radio on cassette tapes holding Pause button My best music & the best #2#3
Some kids where so P@@R there mother cut holes in there Pockets so they'd have something to play with xd
Just to be clear, Pizza Hut pan pizzas always sucked.
The 80s? The sign clearly says 1965.
Damn I'm old lol
The Taco Bell is just like Walmart lets make everything bland and brown please throwback at least once
😂😂😂 gen x bomb shelter!
Fuckin 80s was the best ever
McDonald's had waaay better Happy Meal toys in the 80s..the Fast Mac's (Little Race cars, with the McDonald's charcters) Muppet Babies charcters..& I have to admit, I would've liked the McDonald's Food..that turned into 🦕 dinosaurs..kinda, neat..and the Nintendo Tetris Blocks have names?? 🤔-Learn something new everyday..🎮
Pizza Hut was NEVER a culinary delicacy…….
Tbh, I don't know what I'm looking at in most of these. 😆
I'll show you 😊
You're either too young or too old.
Fk I'm getting old...
Guess that 12 year old didn't have the alcoholic gene. I remember being five or six when pops would let me sip from his Busch beer, then say, "Don't tell your mother." It tasted great and Seagram's 7 to kill a chest cold.. Wasn't fazed. Didn't stop drinking until I was 42 eight years ago.🤪
0:53 I still remember several phone numbers, too bad the people they belonged too are long since dead. 🪦
1:51 Went to PH every weekend, and I now have every collectible Pepsi glass from 1973. Aahh memories. 🍕
5:30 Hey that’s a picture of my nightstand now. 😳
