500Mw radios only have a practical range of 2 miles. The exaggeration by manufacturers is bordering on fraud.

Switch to digital modes. Clearer audio for much longer. DMR is the easiest way to go.

if this radio is F R S G M R S the G m r s side will get you 30 miles with a F C C license
tune you radio to a tower and give the FCC 35.00 dollars that put's you on are systum

thay fall under the rule of the F C C
These vids really need to be honest about the range. 20+ miles? Don't make me laugh, maybe if you're standing on a mountaintop and trying to reach someone on the next top, so you don't have anything in between. Other than that, about 2 miles is the most, often less.
The 2 miles, is the range of all radios ? Please, can you suggest a good one, I want to get one for emergencies.
if you radio has both f r s and g m r s then you can program you radio to gmrs tower
and received you f c c license you are good to go
all radio's on the market to day are F R S first rated at 2 watts out and 2 mile or line of site regulated by the F C C rules short range

OR, you could just get a walkie talkie app for your phone...yes, they exist. Also, virtually all walkie talkie radios have had the ability to use your earphone as a microphone for over 20 years.
yeah right, until you get in the middle of South Dakota or in the mountains of PA, where phones DO NOT WORK.
Unlike and unsubscribe for me. They totally ignored how many of them had VOX (voice activated hands free feature) only mentioned it in one of the ten yet some of the others have it already. BIG MISS, no excuse for such blunder in reviewing these products. Hands free is a HUGE feature people want to know if its included or not. DO BETTER.
HE more than likely did not read the book that comes with all radios.
