I think I’m a hybrid of Completionist + nostalgia snob + explorer. I think the most niche sub snob I am is Metroidvania SNOB + pixel art SNOB. I am also 35 so take young rusher gamers!!! You're crazy. I blame final fantasy for making me a completionist. Hate missing ultimate weapons. Always afraid I'm going to miss the best weapon in a game somewhere.

FF7 Rebirth must be a nightmare for you then because it's so massive and there's so much to do

I'm definitely a rusher at first. I burn through the main story as fast as I can then if I liked the game when I next revist it I'll take my time focusing on the side content over the main story.

I think a games story is a big initial draw for a lot of gamers :)

Great video! It came just in time for my free day and I love the way you both interact! I consider myself a hybrid between the explorer and the hard moder, but Id never look down on someone for playing with a different style. Live and let live, life's already hard enough for us to try to tell others how to have fun!
Thanks for this video, keep up the good work!!🎉

Depends on the game. I like to suffer and make others suffer come play Ark survival evolved 😂

Turn-based combat was never a technical limitation, it's because early RPGs were all based on core mechanics created by Dungeons & Dragons. In TTRPGs, everything is turn-based, and games that seek to replicate that experience won't want active battles. Both styles have their place, but both are actual legitimate design choices.
Also, I think it can be said that games from the 8 and 16 bit eras were objectively better, if only because there weren't as many lowest-common-denomenator productions. I do play modern games (EVE Online and Against the Storm are my mains right now), but there's no denying that at least the biggest companies focus far too much on aesthetics and not enough on the meat of games; this is proven by the fact that, if you really look into it, the average RPG length hasn't changed all that much since Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. Other than some outliers, most of these games can be finished in 40-60 hours. Imagine a game designed with the old school love of the art and retro quality that uses all the extra space to make the entire game longer; imagine a main story that takes 150 hours to complete, that's the time it takes to fully 100% Final Fantasy XIII! Or imagine a Metroidvania that is the size of Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Super Metroid, and Axiom Verge combined! I'd pay double price for such a game that uses all the extra space for the game rather than visuals and orchestral music. 16 bits, massive game, I want it.

Ever played Octopath Traveler? That's the closest game I know to what you have described. 8 different main characters and main stories, massive world with lots to do, HD-2D graphics, great turn based combat, unique mechanics and has a retro feel.
And Sea of Stars maybe 🤔 - Heather

35yo hardmode explorer snob here, I like hard games because they often reward you for playing on higher difficulty settings and you need to use all the mechanics the offers. I also like skill based games like Destiny 2 where even though I am a competent player, if I run into a top player I won't stand a chance and over time you feel accomplished as you get better yourself. I admit, I don't like easy moders, but that's only in coop mode when after the first bit of damaged received they want to immediately lower the difficulty. I'd had the "the toxic troll" to the list ... annoying every other person for their own pleasure but once pushed themselves they are the first to shout and yell that its unfair. A variant of the keyboard warrior. Also "the coach" People who guide others through the game and get as much enjoyment from seeing other succeed as succeeding themselves. Another variant of snob could be the "Loadout snob" People who kick you from a party for not having the optimal Meta weapons, specs and items.

Haha yeah, those are some great additions! Easy moders have no business playing coop 😂 - Heather
