I love your horizontal sander...can you tell me where you found the plans...or is it your own creation?!

      rrojahn, thanks for watching!
That sander is a collection of ideas all condensed into a "prototype". It's been working so well, I've not gotten to building a new more finished version. I should, but I haven't.
The sander does about 3 things. It has the top flat sanding surface that I used in this video. It also has a round disc sander on one end of the drum shaft. Then there is a table that inserts below the drum so I can do finish thickness sanding.
It may be a 1/2 hp motor, I don't recall. If/when I build again, I'll use a 1 HP motor as this motor can be bogged down a bit when using the thickness sander feature.
Here's more video footage of the sander in action, both the top sander and the thickness sander:

Look up "v drum sander" there are a few YT video of people building similar sanders.
Also, check the YT channel "Broncos and Guitars", he built something similar too.

Sorry I don't have plans to share, hope this info points you in the right direction.

So let's see if I am figuring this right. The case is 131/2" wide and 12" tall. So I can cut t h top to 13 1/2 inches and the sides 1 inch longer 13" because they fit into the top finger joints? I am trying to not mess up, but I am sure I will when cutting the joints.

      Correction 1 1/2 inch.

      Gary, thanks for watching!
I don't recall if I shared a link to the plans I started with or not - it's been some time.
Here's the link just in case:

Messing up is okay, maybe not preferred, but it's where I learn the most.
If you haven't cut this style finger joints before, you may want to practice on some off-cut pieces of the material you plan to use for the cabinet.
Depending on how you plan to finish the cabinet, you could get away with making butt-joints rather then the tedious finger joints. Just a thought.
Go slow, measure often, have fun and laugh when the cut is on the wrong side of the line.
That one gets me all the time.
Good luck with your project, BE VERY SAFE, and take care!

Can you post the link for the cabinet plans?

    • @theNextProject
      @theNextProject  Před 3 lety

Anthony, if you google "5F1 cabinet plans" you'll find a ton of random ideas, plans, and some nonsense.
Here's a link to a few items that may be of help:
      www.dropbox.com/sh/m2lbx0fcv1gf0a2/AABqbQxCm__wRbMK4K51p6VXa?dl=0
You may have to copy and paste that URL, as I don't think it will be a working link in this message, but maybe.
Also, check out all the amp building info at Rob Robinette's website:
      robrobinette.com/Amp_Stuff.htm
Also, go to TDPRI.com, a telecaster forum, there you will find a bunch more info, builds, community support, some helpful troubleshooting... a lot of great people there all enjoying this type of project. Some of the group have built multiple amps, then hot-rodded them.
I started with NO knowledge, but some basic ability (cut lumber, sand, paint), but not any real electronics know-how. I was very, very cautious as electricity can KILL!
Oh, another great place to get up to speed, is Uncle Doug's CZcams channel.
He's a retired school teacher, and does a great job of introducing the knowledge used in amp build and repair. It seemed very overwhelming to me initially, but I just watched, and re-watched... kinda like being in school again, but it was/is something that I wanted to learn at this point in my life.
      czcams.com/channels/uR4hQTXkG_KxozLxwPzEjQ.html
There is a ton more info out there.
If you want to build an amp, and have NO knowledge (like me), start slow. Study, read, read, read... then start gathering parts, and read, read and read some more.
Good luck with whatever project you undertake, and be cautious and careful.
Let me know how your project goes, take care!

the Next Project thanks for your generous help! The link works too. I am a subscriber to Uncle Doug (good to know I’m not the only one watching lol) and I follow the TELE forum too. I think I’m going to try to house a 10” speaker. Do you think your cab would accommodate a 10” speaker? Thanks again for you tremendous sharing!

@@anthonysilva5312 hmm, you may need. Little bigger cabinet for a 10" speaker. I built the 8" and it is comfortably cramped, so I'd guess a 10" would need a shoehorn, but...?
The TDPRI forum could answer that question better. Good luck w your build.
