I may be wrong but i think it is slightly different. If you are not spotted while/after firing, it resets in ~3 secs. If you are spotted, the 20 sec clock starts ticking. If you get unspotted (smoke) then fine If you reappear out of smoke within that 20 sec, you visibility blooms again to max, for the rest of the 20 sec duration. Note the timer keeps ticking.
Don't forget the Ty and that Guy podcast talking about the series episodes and film production in general. The background and reasoning for the series is excellent!
He says it wasn't a throw, but if that Akizuki just went for the cap and NOT shot at the Goliath, which let the Goliath reset the A cap, it could have been a different story.
Maybe, but if you look at minimap during the cyclone Akizuki was spotted by Goliath and was too close to run north. They had to run West quite a bit to be out of Goliath danger. Of course firing wasn't the smartest thing to do, but it wasn't exactly throw (He probably thought he would be un spotted soon - there is an island and he was unlucky that goliath basically had guns on A). So while it was a mistake, I wouldn't call it a throw.
Leviathan Wakes is an excellent book, and the Expanse is genuinely insanely good - 100% recommend it! The books really flesh out the story over the TV series!
The set up was really good for this one and it really did come down to the wire. It just goes to show how hard it is to estimate how a ship is travelling for torp hits sometimes.
Jingles need to feature more WoWS videos featuring the Akizuki (The ship) with co-commentary by Akizuki (The cat) with guest starring an Akizuki figurine.

I just finished watching season six and have to say the entire TV show was fantastic but i was a little bit disappointed as it felt like they just cut it short and left it unfinished!! But with your audible add i now know i need to get the books so i can get some closure and understanding!! 🙂

at around 12mins, i think he didnt use his damage control incase of fire, the poms secondaries could have gotten a lucky fire due to short damage control duration, in which case the bloom in concealment range with an unfortunate fire would be certain death.
i once won a gun fight in a shima vs gearing so gunning in an IJN DD is not the worst thing to do, you just need the right circumstances to pull it off
